Janie Konakis, MD

If you’re looking for a kind, caring and wonderful doctor… move on. Seriously, Janie Konakis was all that and more. But she has moved on from those who cannot or will not pay a yearly premium in order to make an appointment with her just in case the need arises. Pay upwards of $ 500 to subscribe to a doctor on the chance you might need to make an appointment? This is where we are today. I called for an appointment with this doctor who I had seen for years only to find out that she had dropped me like a hot potato to move to another group that I could not afford. More power to you if you can afford to pay a doctor for services not rendered. I thought Janie Konakis was pretty great for many years and am now sorry I recommended her to so many. Good luck with your new income Janie.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Konakis for 12 years. She is a kind, caring, and intelligent doctor. One of the things I value most in doctor-​patient relationships is my autonomy. With Dr. Konakis, I had just that. She didn’t tell me what to do, she worked with me to find a solution we were both comfortable with. I recently moved to Vegas and, as such, had to change doctors. The doctor I have here is okay, but he’s nothing like she is. I miss her terribly.
Two things I didn’t like: the wait to see her could be weeks, unless something was really wrong (I.e. not just a check up). Not her fault, she’s popular. Second, some of her office staff were frustrating. One of the receptionists is kind of mean, and it was difficult to get message to the doctor if you spoke with certain people. But those are really minor things, and completely worth dealing with.

When I was new to Reno I ended up in a Renown Urgent Care because I didn’t have an established doctor. I asked the nurse there for her recommendation and Dr. Konakis was one of the names she circled. I’ve now been going to her for 4+ years and am always very happy with her. She is always so patient with my list of questions I walk in with and when I’m done with my list, she always asks if I have any more questions. She is thorough and proactive and I would recommend her to my closest friends and family.

Janie is awesome. I had to switch doctors because my other is an ass. So, after doing research online, I decided to try Janie. Best decision ever! The initial «new patient» interview was a 3 mth wait, but once you’re established you have no problem getting right in. It’s worth the wait! She talks to you. She listens. She’s exactly whom I was searching for for my new dr.

Dr. Konakis has been my primary physician since high school. She is very knowledgeable and actually listens to you. You will never feel rushed when you see her during your appointment. She is one of the few female M.D.‘s in town.
You should be warned that she is quite popular so an appointment with her might be hard to attain last minute.
