Went to see the 2 Chainz show to attend this venue for the first time over a week ago. I am still upset about how me and my friend were treated by one of the employees. I was completely unaware that there was a special section for drinking. We bought beers on the other side with pool tables and the guard let us walk through to the floor without saying a word. So we are just trying to enjoy the show and this girl comes over making a scene by saying«OHHELLNO, YOUTWONEEDTOGO» and I kindly asked what the issue was, and she was like«YOUNEEDTOCOMEWITHMENOW». Without explanation she grabs our arms and makes a scene dragging us to the 21+ section. She explains to him«THESEBITCHESWEREDRINKINGONTHEFLOOR» and I was just appalled, it’s one thing to be stern, but it’s another thing to be completely rude and out of line. I look to the guard and say«Is she serious, I apologize for breaking the rules but I had no idea that there was this rule and i intend to follow it from here on out» and he says rudely«she gets paid to do that sooooooo» I couldn’t believe two employees in a row didn’t give a shit about us. So at this point I am infuriated, I ask to speak to a manager at the bar and it ended up being the owner. She didn’t seem too concerned that we were upset or wanted our business(she also had an attitude), and said«she’s just crazy like that, but I’ll talk to her» … Any business I know would handle the situation right then and there… I will never go there again and the service was terrible anyways.

Holy poor ventilation Batman. Being a non-smoker definitely has its disadvantage if you’re in the bar and it’s packed with smokers. The booze selection is real nice, but taking cash only is a bummer. Yes there’s an ATM, but if you’re like me and not a fan of being charged more to take money out, you’re effed. The room where concerts are held is adequate. Last night was my first time back there in well over a year. The sound was good, but the lights definitely lack in showing who’s on stage. I wish these guys luck. I don’t think I’ll be going back anytime soon, unless they work on the ventilation for the bar.

I usually enjoy this place but tonight I did not. The open mic was fun. The bartender and 1⁄3 owner was rather mean and thought it would be ok to pour a Guinness incorrectly. I should add they are a cash only bar. The morose female behind the bar who appeared to hate her job unpleasantly let me know. They have 2 pool tables, and I think is A cool location for shows. I would give this place a 4 star when any other bartender is working, I have faith in that!

I’ve walked into Jub Jub’s in the past, and immediately walked right out. Nothing to talk about, nothing to write about, just a dark, dingy bar off Wells. Well after this last visit, my opinion has totally changed. I’m not sure how recently it happened, but Jub Jub’s bought the space next door, and in my mind I now think of them more as a live music and performance venue and less of just a bar. I would never have known any of this had we not been invited to see a show there on Valentine’s Day. This new venue is really cool with exposed brick walls, theatrical lighting, and two stages in the horizontally oriented space. The«theater» is separate from the bar next door, with it’s own entrance around the corner, which is great for crowd control and ticketing. We saw«Hazards of Love», a rock opera based on the music of The Decemberists. The show was awesome, and essentially was about star crossed lovers. A mythical male faun creature, similar to Mr. Tumnus, fell in love with a human girl. The wretched maternal figure was none to pleased with this, and did her best to put an end to it by sending an evil human to capture and enslave the girl. In the end, the faun and the girl gave their lives simply so they could be together in love. It was a wonderful story for Valentine’s Day and the set and costumes gave it a great fantasy feel. What really set it off though was the music, all coming from a live band set on the stage at the back of the room, who were all dressed in steampunky costumes. The musicians were incredibly talented, and the singers voices added incredible life and color to each character and scene in the show. After seeing this performance, I’m excited to see what else they bring to the venue. Before I thought Jub Jub’s was a dive known for loud heavy metal, but this totally changed my view. Having another place for community theater and other performance events is exactly what we need and I’ll be watching their schedule to see what’s next!

Our reason for being at Jub Jub’s was simple. My wife wanted to go to a performance here so we went. One of her friends was a performer in a «rock opera» type of performance. So most of our experience is with the performance space. This show was set up in an non-traditional way so I can’t put a lot of effort into reviewing the space for performance. I can only say that it seems like it would be a killer space for a band to play at. The bar was a bit cluttered but things moved quickly and the prices seemed to be from affordable to normal Reno prices. I think they had some basic drinks available at the bar in the performance space and then a more extensive bar in the regular area across the hall. We only had waters so can’t really say much about the drinks other than they looked really good. Not just a bunch of ice and a splash of alcohol. The sound in the place was great! The only issues I heard were more from the sound guy than from the actual space itself. Parking sucks. It’s just a small amount then you have to find something on the surrounding streets. Which is no biggie but can complicate things a bit if you are coming on a rainy or wet night. Good sized Men’s bathroom. Many bars have gross tiny restrooms this one was just basic and fine. The worst part of the evening was the smoke. As far as I can tell no food is served, so smoking is pretty much freely done in the bar and about the building. The performance space didn’t seem to have any smokers though. Not sure if this was an edict from the performers or if this is normal for all performance spaces. Either way, I will probably not go back to Jub Jub’s because of the smoking issue. Even though the smokers stayed quarantined, their smoke still permeated the whole space. I know it’s not a popular view to take, but I just don’t get smokers in general. When person«A» smokes every person(B-Z) around person«A» experiences their activity as a participant. It’s like if I went into a restaurant with a bad case of loud stinky farts. Blammo every few seconds. Oh I need to fart outside? Ok I’ll do that… mind if I stand RIGHTATTHEDOOR take a break and blast a few juicy ones right where everyone is coming in? You have a problem with that? Anyway I digress and apologize to all my smoking friends. Just frustrates me when I have to go home smelling like smoke and with a headache just because I want to see a cool show.

This place is cool! Came here last night for a local production — Hazards of Love. The venue was nice and big, very cool, but the acoustics were just okay. I suppose that is to be expected in a parlor and not a concert hall. The layout was neat though with 2 stage areas, a big bar and a large open space for seating. Drinks being sold in the venue area seemed to be a little pricey($ 10 for a corona and an icky, before tip), but hey, it may have just been the«show» price. The actual bar area seemed to be hopping with locals. It was very smokey, so that may be an issue for some, but overall it was a cool little divey bar. Would be a fun place to grab a beer.

Came here with the hubby to see«Hazards of Love» a tribute to the Decemberists’ album of the same name. I found it to be an interesting venue for a dance performance, with a couple of stages and open floor. I didn’t go by the bar area, but my hubby went there to grab us a couple of bottles of Aquafina water. The seating arrangement doesn’t exactly allow for full view of the stage and its performers, but we could see enough to stay with the gist of the story. It was a new and different experience. Just might come back for something else, and I will remember to come in from the entrance facing Wells Ave, as the other side involves walking through a smoky bar and patio area, and I just don’t do well with smoke. The little bit that seemed to be in the audience area was enough to bring on a headache, and I’m just not a fan of that.

Jub Jubs is a second home to me. Besides knowing many of my fellow patrons from other bars or scenes, it being a Burner friendly way station and an official ECV watering hole, it’s a fun effing bar! They host local art shows(lots of the stuff on the walls is for sale) and are an established venue. Since taking over the adjoining showroom, they have been able to expand their ability to do big shows and are venturing into other stage shows like independent plays. Great music most nights of the week including one of the longest running and only late night open mic(blazing mics) that I TOTALLY have nothing to do with every week ;). The Wheel of Jubstice is fun too — a roulette style drink generator for $ 3. And don’t forget the house specialty — $ 1 Monkey Juice, straight from the patron monkey himself. Always different — always tasty — they will fuck you up!

Great place. I always enjoy the down-to-earth vibe coming from the bartenders and staff. Cool stage set up and occasional good shows. Cheap, cheap drinks! The patrons aren’t pretentious like some other places. A hidden gem, for sure.

Truly one of the best music venues in town. Jub Jub’s has a bit of a warehouse-like feel — just a big, unpretentious building with a stage, pool tables, and some old school arcade games. In just a year or two, it’s gone from a bar that was trying to decide whether to host shows, to one of the première indie venues in the city. It didn’t hurt them that most of the Zephyr’s crowd migrated over when that bar closed down earlier this year. I’ve always thought the best way to support an art or music scene is to just give artists and musicians a place to hang out and perform, and then stay out of their way and let them do it. Jub Jub’s is where that happens, now.

one of my favorite bars in Reno. If you dont know where it is, its a bit hard but they have good shows there and their drinks are reasonably priced.

This is a fun bar with a young crowd, and a lot to do – even for guys like me who had to quit drinking. Pool, darts, online juke box, live entertainment, lots of affordable drinks, air conditioning, clean bathrooms, and good fun.
