I’ve lived in Nevada a long time. The one thing you know is gamblers get a free drink. So to my surprise I get charged for my drink, when we ask the bartender says«that’s only a casino thing» not to mention the screaming patrons. This place should not even be considered a stop for anyone looking for a chill place. 4 dollar short well beverages…

We try to visit a new dive bar every time we visit Reno. On this visit we decided to check out Lucke’s and were glad we did. The bartender was friendly as well as the old timer locals. Only drawback was only having Budweiser and Coors on tap but they did have a moderate selection of microbrews and other beers in bottles.

I left out some crucial details in my first review due to chemical alteration, and my current state of chemical alteration is making me feel compelled to add some amendations. Unilocal doesn’t think that’s a word, but I disagree. I digress. Lucke’s is a typical unpretentious, unrefined Reno joint. People are warm, and friendly. Especially the warm part. The bartenders and patrons are very friendly, and unpretentious. You will not feel uncomfortable. You will not feel pretentious, but maybe you will. That part is mostly on you. I guarantee you will feel warm and friendly. Seriously, this place is worth a look. Multiple looks. Multiple looks per week if you feel so inclined.

Not bad. Been there a couple of times. The staff and patrons both are friendly. This was a much-welcome breath of fresh air as compared with a certain other bar a couple of blocks north on the same side of the street. It’s definitely worth another visit.

I won’t even frequent the place until they replace that nasty, disgusting American Flag on the side of their building. I have called many times and requested they put up a new flag. I alerted the Veterans Adminstration and they also asked them to replace the flag. We went so far as to drop off brand new flags on two separate occassions, to no avail. I cannot for the life of me figure out why ANYONE would support a place, especially ONWELLSAVENUE, without the patriotism that comes with proper flag etiguette. If they are not going to fly the Flag properly, they should take it down altogether!

This venerable business has been here since the late 1940’s and is largely unchanged. Once called Lucky Pete’s, this bar has been owned by Rodeo supporter, organizer and legend Mike Lucke. In the late 1970’s this bar drew a rough crowd, from iron workers fisticuffs to hard edged blue bollar bores, the 1980’s brought more of a white powder crowd and an influx of influential Reno businessmen. Today, it is a classic locals bars with patrons who have been coming here for 30 plus years. Its friendly. fun, sports centric and two old pool tables that have seen some of the best shooters in town. Terrific place!
