Reno Mazda

We purchased a Certified 2015 Mazda 6 GT here and while the purchase of the vehicle was good, the service after the fact was non-​existent.
Since we had two SUVs and our kids had their own cars it became apparent that we should keep one SUV and replace the other with something different. It was my wife’s primary car that we decided to get rid of. We went to a bunch of dealerships and tried several cars but after exploring the Mazda 6 we decided to pick it up.
Our salesperson was friendly and fairly low pressure, once we decided on a vehicle we were handed off to a finance person. Unfortunately this is where I get frustrated. Out came the 4 square that dealers so frequently use that is meaningless. I had let them know what the max I was willing to spend and that was that. It was as simple as them saying yes or no but they insisted on using their 4 square even though I asked them not to. Finally after 45 minutes they agreed to the price (this could have been accomplished in 2 minutes). One issue we had was that there was only 1 key fob. The salesperson said he’d get the key from the previous owner or have one made there — my mistake was not getting that in writing.
After the transaction was complete we took the car home. I followed up with the salesperson the next day to ask about the status of the other key & fob and he told me he’d find out and get back to me. I followed up a few more times but either didn’t hear back or was told «I haven’t heard back from the previous owner». Finally getting frustrated I asked what my other options were. I was told that I’d need to spend ~$ 300 to get a replacement key/​fob and have it programmed and cut.
Frustrated I did a little research. Turns out for $ 80 you can buy a Mazda Fob and blank key from other dealers. I managed to get this and Reno Mazda agreed to cut the key and program the fob at no cost. We dropped it off on a saturday and apparently it took 6 hours to do this — they also never bothered to call us to tell us it was done.
‘The Dolan Difference’ doesn’t appear to be anything more than rhetoric. Unfortunately like so many other dealerships it’s getting the sale and once that’s done the customer service goes out the window.

I am so disappointed and frustrated. I went to Reno Mazda to get an alignment and had an appointment set for Thursday. I took time off work and everything to drop off the car. The service advisor called me back and said they couldn’t get me in and direct quote «We don’t want to rush the job and have your tires wear unevenly»…Wouldn’t you never want to do a quick rushed job and have a customers tires wear unevenly? So I told them to keep the vehicle and I’d pick it up on the weekend. I get a call and I installed the top hat in the wrong orientation. They wanted $ 250 to fix it, I understand they need to charge for labor but it’s literally a 10 minute fix taking off the wheel and loosen 3 bolts. The service advisor also mentioned that my camber bolt was installed incorrectly and couldn’t explain why. He said «I wasn’t underneath the car so I can’t tell you. So then I said I would pick it up and fix it really quick and return the vehicle so they could finish the job… that wasn’t the case. I had to pay for the full alignment and pay for another alignment if I wanted to finish the job. Frustrated already I left and proceeded onto the freeway to get home and I heard something hit the underside of my vehicle. I get home to correct the stated issues above and I see that the nut that holds my suspension to the knuckle was gone and my camber bolt nut nearly fell off as well… this is completely unsafe and could have caused a huge wreck. These bolts call for 129 ft lbs of TQ. I am so un-​happy and have a immobile car and no alignment. I have to wait til Monday to speak to the service manager.

Just traded my old Mazda 3 for a KIA Sorrento today. Vinnie was our product specialist and he felt like an old friend by the time we drove out with our new treasure. He was so accommodating and helped us with all of our needs down to the smallest details. David was our financial guy and also made our experience run smoothly and efficiently. The whole team worked together beautifully. Obvious professionals who have been well trained and feel well taken care of by their company. No competition here as no one works on commission. Only a firm commitment as a team to do a good job… very impressed. Won’t go anywhere else!

I bought my new car from Reno Mazda a while back. They were helpful throughout the test drive and purchase process. Now I take it back for routine service and couldn’t be happier. It’s clean and comfortable in the waiting area. The bathrooms are clean and warm. The service reps always have the vehicle done in half the time that they allotted. I highly suggest Reno Mazda for service whether you buy one of their awesome vehicles or something else.
