I am a 20+ year vegetarian. I usually shop at save-mart after my regular shopping place is closed. I shop at many of the locations and always have a great shopping experience. The employees are always friendly and the service is quick. But at the keystone. Location there is a checker named Carrey and she is the rudest bitch in the world. Everyone else is phenomenal so don’t let her ruin your good time. Just choose a different lane if it’s open. Ps-I spoke with the assistant store mgr today and this wasn’t her first complaint. Please shop here because everyone is nice(at all locations) except her.

Closest supermarket to my home, so I go often. Have good sales. And once a week they have a meat special where you get selected meats 5 for $ 5/each. You have to buy 5 for the price, but it’s usually a good deal. But if I buy that much meat, it would imply that I’m actually going to stay home and cook. I used to do that… not so much anymore. If I eat at home, I’ll have less to Unilocal about. LOL Usually not fond of their produce…(sorry I go to Raley’s a few blocks away for produce). During the summer months, I try to hit one of the many Farmer’s Markets for fresh produce. Store staff has always been helpful and friendly. Store is clean, which is critical for food shopping.

The people who were patronizing the store today were a very large group of burning man«burners». This only happens about this time of year in late August. Anyway, since it was too crowded(I couldn’t get to the meat section as there were a crowd of carts there) to get in and out when shopping for a few items so I went to Raley’s where it’s a little more expensive. There were very few burners there and I was in and out In minutes. Mostly though, in other times of the year, they have good prices and sales. The market is frequented by those needing a grocery store in downtown Reno In the casino corridor, 4th Street, and other residential areas nearby. The customer service is a bit lacking as if they’re just working there to get a paycheck.(Especially the lady with the very dark hair and goth style eye make-up who is at least 40). We will be back though regardless as we usually save $ 5-$ 10 over shopping three rather than at Raley’s.

This store is in a prime spot for everyone in Reno to visit. People come walking, crawling, biking, and driving into the keystone location. The store itself is clean and organized. The employees are friendly and helpful. The prices are affordable and items are easy to locate. I stop in here for a couple items usually at a time. It’s right by the exits which give it easy access. I like going here for certain sale items because the deals can be quite good. Keep an eye out for the clearance section over by the medicine aisle too! They sometimes mark down alcohol or food over there too. I stop here and shoot because savemart hires individuals with disabilities. I like supporting businesses who have joined the movement of inclusion!

So we needed flowers for an event and we decided to stop by Save Mart because it was right at the outskirts of Reno. Going inside, it reminded me of an Albertsons or a Vons, except way more dirtier :( Prices are about the same or on par with LA prices. They had Arizona Black and White and Peach Arizona(99 cents BOGO) which was a great deal and things I hadn’t seen before ;o maybe i’m just out of the loop… They have self check out but decided to go to a cashier and that’s when you could see they have gambling machines INTHESTORE. WHAT. Nevada why…

Not my first choice of places to go for food, but since I have a mailbox at the UPS Store next door I will occasionally wander in here for one or two quick things. Dirty outside and inside, always random tweakers and panhandlers outside wanting freebies. Doesn’t matter what time of day or night, there they are.(By the way, I’d be real leery of coming in here after dark. I get the willies.) One one occasion, I was SWORNAT by an employee when I said I couldn’t find something, and she acted like she was doing me a HUGE favor by dropping her broom and walking me over to the next aisle where the item I was looking for was.(«J**** C*******! It’s not that hard to find!!!») On another occasion, I was roughly chewed out for wanting cash back from one of the self checkstands.(«You should always go through the regular line: they are set up for cash better!!! Don’t ever go through self check for cash again!!») Then why is the self-check programmed that way if you don’t want people to get cash back from it? Mostly, I go here for occasional over the counter medicine, Protein bars, and the odd other item or two. I would never do my regular shopping here(mostly because I live way across town), and if I didn’t have a mailbox next door, I’d likely never go in here. My advice: If you’re in this neighborhood and need groceries, stick with Raley’s a block north, or go over to the Safeway down the road. Oh, and I mentioned this in a review of the UPS Store, but the car park is rather oddly designed with weird traffic flows, so be careful coming in and out. Also, people tend to jaywalk against the light at Keystone and 5th, so look out for them. I’ve also seen bicyclists riding the wrong way up Keystone here on a few occasions.(Why don’t they get tickets?)

I have shopped here once a week since 2006, and I love this store. The employees are real people, and they don’t talk to you like they’re reading from a script like the robots at some other stores. They get to know their customers, and they make a difference in the elderly’s lives by looking them in the eye, calling them by name, and chatting them up in line. Once, when I was there, I witnessed an employee pay for an elderly gentlemen’s order out of her own pocket when his food stamps wouldn’t cover it. You just don’t find that level of genuine kindness and compassion in every place.

I go here all the time. I like it. Nothing sexy about this grocery store, but it’s got everything I need, good prices, and a good location

I’ll give this Save Mart location an extra star in comparison to the one on Plumb(see separate review,) but it’s ONLY because they have a few self check-out kiosks, and I haven’t seen nearly as many weirdos in here. The staff seems a tad nicer too. It seems like this whole franchise is shady. Lazy employees for the most part, high prices for items that are supposedly on sale, and stale bakery items. Open from 6 am — midnight. In this area of town, it’s still a bit cheaper than the Raley’s on 7th and Keystone, but you can get a lot of identical dry items, snacks, drinks, and even a few frozen items, at CVS right across the street from that Raley’s location for a much better value.

While i will agree with many of the other reviews that this store is below par. You can find some amazing deals on meat if you time it right. Some great spare ribs and tritip for unbeatable prices. Just be weary of the expiration date.

We stopped in on our way to our hotel to stock up on snacks and alcohol. It was not a very clean place, but they were stocked with what we needed. The cashier was friendly.

This is a piss poor store and you MUSTLOOK very careful or your Oscar Meyer Ham Sandwich meat might have an odd shade of green. The once in every 900 years sales they have on certain things MIGHT be worth a visit if you’re in the area but considering that’s almost an entire millennium I really don’t think it’s worth the trouble. (GREEN ham sandwich meat — oh yes I DIDSEEIT)

This is one nasty store. I can’t think of anything good about it. I used to shop here when it was Albertson’s and thought it was ok, but as soon as it became«SaveMart» I noticed that the quality of meat an produce have dropped considerably and the prices are higher. I pretty much shop in Safeway now– I just can’t handle such a crappy store as this and I hope that someone from corporate reads this and gets the message

Lakewood G. is pretty much right about the things wrong with this SaveMart. It anchors a cool little strip mall located in an iffy neighborhood. SaveMart should step up to the plate to keep its shoppers feeling safer. Since this is one of the closer stores to me, I occasionally shop here when I’m already shopping in this neighborhood. It was a much better store when it was Albertson’s. Now you actually wonder who’s been drooling on the produce. I don’t buy produce here, unless it’s something you’re going to peel, like an orange or bananas, and it’s okay if its bagged salad or potatoes. I haven’t had the rude employee experience Lakewood describes, but the deli items are an inferior quality and the last time I was there, I worried about the person behind the counter breathing on my food. I’d skip it. Prices might be a shade less than Raley’s, but not enough to make suffering the unclean, unsafe feeling of the store worthwhile. The same atmosphere can be found in a Wal-Mart grocery store where you will spend significantly less money.
