St. Rose is a beautiful modern-ish 1200-seat Catholic church, in a fantastic setting(and lots of parking). Although the initial coordination was a bit awkward(to be expected when you cold-call a church and say«hi, we’re not parishioners, but your church looked very nice on the web, so we’d like to get married there»), it improved considerably after our first in-person meeting. The wedding coordinator, Jane, was ultra-helpful — she loaned us copies of other couples’ wedding programs, as well as the little Catholic wedding planning book. Also, the church allowed us to set up decorations the night before the ceremony, so there wasn’t quite so much running around the day-of. Father Tom, the priest who married us, was absolutely amazing. He made a real effort to get to know us, and his homily kept everyone riveted(a number of people said it was the most memorable ceremony they’d ever been to). He’s no longer based in Reno(I believe he’s in Elko), however, so I can’t comment on the current priest. Minus one star because the acoustics are a little weird, and a few people said it was hard for them to hear everything.
