This was my first time earing at the Tamerak Steak House. I avoided going there because I was told that you had to by all your side etc separate. I was pleasantly surprised when that want the case. The food was great. Only reason I gave then 4 stars is because we order the Valentine’s special blue cheese steak and gave us the bone in rib eye. It was a more expensive item. They completely made it up to us by comping out dessert and offering a glass of wine.

This is an excellent steakhouse and seafood restaurant. The chef’s expertise, when it comes to cooking to your preference, from rare to well-done is perfection. In my opinion, the seasoning, texture and flavor are unsurpassed and I am a finicky eater when it comes to freshness and flavor. I will have to upload pictures at a later time. Bön appetite!

I love the atmosphere, the service was great! Most importantly the food was very good! The Lobster Bisque was amazing! We ordered the crab cake and the escargot for appetizers(totally filled us up). The crab cake is a very generous size with lots of tender crab. The filet and the cowboy ribeye were both excellent. It is a pricey restaurant but it was a very nice experience. For the month of January 2016 they have a coupon on their website for $ 26 off two entrees! That basically covers one whole entrée(the 6oz filet was $ 28). Very good food!

Can go to Wal-Mart, buy a steak, and make it 5 times better at home than this place. My 13 yr old daughter has more skill than these so called COOKS… no joke

This is one of those old fashioned Steakhouses, where they still prepare sauces, and other items at the table. And it’s a little pricey, but it’s one of the few restaurants that still include starch and vegetables, and salad with the entrée. Tables are spaced out nicely so you are not crowded. I ordered the Petite Fillet. medium rare. It was cooked to perfection. My daughter ordered the fish special — I personally thought the Halibut was a little overdone, but everything else was excellent. We forgot about the veggies being included and ordered creamed spinach. Which was great. made with fresh spinach. And they make the best cheese rolls… asked if we can ordered them to go… unfortunately, you can not. So once again, we took home dinner for the next day. Definitely would come back, although it’s a little out of the way when you live downtown and you have really great Steakhouses in the Silver Legacy and the Eldorado.(Also, both pretty pricey.)

Tim was an amazing server and all our food was delicious! We are locals and live in the area; we are so happy to have a wonderful steakhouse on this side of town. We will definitely be back!

First time at the steakhouse. Friend ordered Steak Diane which was ok but my steak was overcooked and room temperture. Took forever for service that nite. Veggies were kinda tastless,. A bit pricey. Maybe they have growing pains.

Our first experience here was several months ago, where four of us all ordered steak and lobster to our delight. It was a positive experience, and enough to request that we visit them again for dinner on my birthday this past Monday. My wife booked reservations, and remarked that this visit was for my birthday in the comments. There was no opportunity to request a booth online, so we felt the comment section would do the trick. When we arrived we were greeted by a 30-something hostess who seemed a bit dismissive. She soon seated us at a table near the entrance, even though I asked her about seating us at one of two empty booths. She remarked that these were reserved, and that we would have to wait 30 minutes if we wanted one. We accepted the table and only minutes later a third booth was cleaned and ready. I asked for the hostess to return and explain the policy, to which she replied it was necessary that we call to reserve a booth. Her attitude and answer immediately soured the remainder of our evening. Our server was Daniel, who is a nice gentleman that promptly served us throughout the evening. is shared two specials with us this Monday evening, which my wife and I were pleased to accept. The food was quickly served thereafter, and everything was to our liking. I had the filet and halibut, and my wife had the salmon. During the course of our visit we observed at least one booth remained empty the entire time. We also noticed a couple waiting in the bar for nearly a half hour before they were seated at one of the vacant booths. It was very disappointing to see the booths treated with a false level of pretense, as if we should be paying more for the privilege to sit in them. Instead, we sat center to plenty of foot traffic. Ultimately we left dissatisfied with the hostess and her lack of interest in satisfying guest requests. We won’t be back again, because there are plenty of steak houses in Reno that know how valuable their guests are and treat them accordingly.

Service was terrific by our waiter. My guess is service at this restaurant depends upon the waiter you get as I see in other reviews some did not fair well. The halibut portion and steak cut were excellent, but the taste was just a bit bland. We did not like the sliced potatoes(tasteless) — good old fashioned mashed potatoes would have been better. Maybe a new chef that has a bit more creativity that would take the meals over the top and equal the price. Lots of nice little touches such as the coffee and lemon hand towel. It feels like someone has the vision for a nice steakhouse –linens, tableware, upscale to go boxes and bags, etc — just need to get food quality up to 4 star level.

I was pleasantly surprised when we went to eat here just because it was close to home and wanted to play some slots. When you go it is a must to order the ceaser salad, they make the dressing fresh right in front of you at the table. The steak was excellent and not overpriced at all. We didn’t order it but the table next to us had a flaming dessert that looked fun and very tasty. The ambiance here is nothing as you would expect inside the Tamarack Junction, it is very swanky feeling without the swanky prices. I would highly recommend this little hidden gem to all.

The Prime Rib was one of the tastiest I’ve ever had. Cooked to perfection and accompanied by the absolutely best scalloped potatoes on this planet and well cooked and seasoned mixed vegetables. I was totally pleased with my meal. Now, the rest of the story… The service was barely adequate and certainly not on par with the cuisine. The table seating, at least to me, was not particularly comfortable and the ambiance fairly sterile. The real spoiler, however, was the super-annoying blast of smoke and heat from the neighbor’s Flambé. I exaggerate not; smoke so bad that two of my table mates immediately suffered runny eyes and one a sneezing fit. The heat blast I felt from my seat probably twelve feet away, was amazing. The jury is still out on the question of our return.

This place is really starting to go down hill. Beef is still okay but I had the salmon and that was a mistake. To compare the fish to cardboard is an insult to cardboard! I sent it back and had the seabass… that took 15 min and the waiter made sure to charge me for the higher priced seabass. No offer of a free desert to make up. He did say to remind him next time we are in about the meal and he will get us a desert… what a guy! Besides the poor food, service was slow and restaurant wasn’t busy. When waiter finally took our order he quizzed my wife on how she wanted her prime rib… she said medium rare. But that wasn’t enough, he said did she want true medium rare or more medium? Huh??? Finally she just pointed to the cooking description on the menu and said…“like that.“ What a bummer, this place used to be good.

Went here for Valentine’s Day, as it was a last minute opportunity, and this place was seating at 8:55 pm Short walk across the gaming floor to enter the closed door/filtered air environment of the restaurant which was thankfully not smokey. Friendly staff. Tired interior, screams old casino. Great bread. Very good mushroom soup, small portion. Great steak Diane, made table-side Steak au poivre was fair, a bit over cooked and tough. My wife left over ½ of it. Berry dessert, also at the table-side, was large and tasty. Could use a little crunch. Share it. $ 20 corkage fee. Overall, will try this again, in a while.

We ate dinner here last night for the first time to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had been told that this was a very good steakhouse. We ordered the Ceasars salad prepared tableside. The dressing was very heavy on vinegar and there was no hard boiled egg. The cheese was some shredded bag cheese. All in all the salad had too much dressing and the vinegar really overwhelmed. When our main course arrived both filets were cooked well done, they were ordered medium. They had burnt ends and were very dry. As an added insult they were room temperature. Our mashed potatoes were warm, dry and in the shape of an ice cream scoop. The broccolini was dry and over done or had been sitting for some time. After having eaten at some of the other top end steakhouses in Reno this was a great disappointment especially when this place is priced at the same level as the much better steakhouses.

Great place for dinner. Very upscale, place to get dressed nice. Food is very high quality. Very quality meat. The service is wonderful. They make you feel welcome. Every drink is filled, they don’t linger. Food comes out quickly and cooked to perfection. Make sure to save room for dessert, bananas foster made table side! Before dinner, you can sit in the lounge, where it has low lighting, and a great drink menu. Definitely worth checking out if you are looking for a nicer place to have a sit down dinner.

Service was great, we didn’t have a reservation got right in. Décor excellent and very clean. Service wonderful Bread was wonderful, butter was not butter, it was margarine. Salad GOOD Prime Rib was tough Broccoli was cold and tasteless. Black color carrots where not cook all the way. Potatoes to perfection. Would I go again? No not for 30.00 on up per person.

Very nice Resturant! We threw my father in laws surprise 60th birthday party here! They were so helpful and great! Everyone’s drinks were full, dinner was amazing, and the service was right on. Any request anyone had was delivered. We REALLY enjoyed it and have been back several times.

It was good– a little pricey. It’s small and quaint The service was attentive without being there too much Salad was large and had a nice variety of mixed greens and julienne veggies. My top sirloin had flavor but not quite right for me. My hubby’s ribeye had better flavor. Loved the scalloped potatoes Best of all — meal was served on a HOT plate. Hotter than the plates you get at Mexican restaurants

I wish I could make something interesting out of my review of this place. It’s a nice locally owned steakhouse that seems to be trying to keep some tradition in the steakhouse dining department. They offer table side service of a number of things I noticed Steak Diane as well as Bananas Foster and Cherries Jubilee. Everything has a classic Tiffany glass sort of feel. Yet the high ceilings and the openness really upgrade the space beyond just a casino establishment. The actual restaurant is located in the center of the casino but looks like a bungalow with it’s own set of glass doors and excellent ventilation system. Our night started on the phone. We called to inquire if their Early Bird Special from February was still going to be available in March and they said yes. When we arrived they were waiting for us and ready to serve. The service was higher end but not fine dining. Our waiter Aaron was very friendly and you could tell he cared to make the meal something special. His team did a good job of moving us through our meal. Even with a last second addition of an appetizer. My wife ordered the Sirloin(26.) off the regular menu and I ordered the Prime Rib off of the Early Bird Special Menu(25.). My prime rib came with a salad but I took the(2.) upcharge for the wedge salad. Not positive the upcharge is worth it but my salad was good. Nothing amazing but good. It also came with a side of mashed potatoes carrots and asparagus. While I didn’t have the asparagus I wasn’t really fond of the mashed potatoes or the carrots. But my Prime Rib was just perfection. Not too salty not over or undercooked just a nice red piece of meat. So even though the sides were pedestrian and meh, the Prime Rib was a star. My wife on the otherhand didn’t fair as well in the meat department, but you can read her review for that experience. Ly S. is her name. The appetizer we ordered was Carpaccio and it was good and personally would have been even better with just a tad more lemon, and maybe some bigger capers? I know I know picky picky picky. But the slices of beef were thick and very satisfying. The bread that they offered was warm. And instead of just plopping bread down on the table, they brought you a piece at a time to let you have it warm and not cooled on the table. Overall the experience wasn’t as upgraded as the prices and ambiance suggested, but it was still an A-OK experience with room to grow. Oh I almost forgot, the star of the evening was actually the Lava Cake. Well executed. Just sublime. We will return and give them another go, I’m not sure maybe the cook was newer or was having a sort of off night. Also they had some cocktails that looked really interesting as well.

If I could do half stars, this would be more of a 3.5 rating. But, I’ll round it up to four this time. I really like the setting of this steakhouse. It’s mostly red and taupe colors, accessorized by dark browns. And the walls are decorated with various pics of Lake Tahoe at sunset, and I find them beautiful and pleasant for a dinner experience. I was craving red meat, and the hubby saw that they have an «Early Bird» special on Mondays, so we ventured here. The maitre’d welcomed us as soon as we entered. The host seated us at a table, where our waiter greeted us by introducing himself and taking our drink order. We chose to keep it simple with iced water. We started with the beef carpaccio, which was sliced a bit thicker than how I know it to traditionally be. The capers and the greens gave it some additional flavor, though it seemed to be lacking in what should’ve been a lemon juice kick. For our second course, the hubby partook of their wedge salad with blue cheese dressing, though our waiter informed us that theirs usually comes with a balsamic dressing. I had their soup du jour, steak and potato soup, which was something new to me. While it seemed pretty good, it was a bit more salty than I like my food, but figure it’s to be expected when eating out. For the main course, I ordered the«baseball» top sirloin 10oz steak. I requested medium, as Aaron informed me that they tend to cook on the rarer side. Imagine my surprise when the plate arrived, and my steak was nearly well done, hardly any pink inside. I took a bite, and it was chewy and definitely not the way I like to enjoy my meat. I waited for Aaron to come check on us, and he noticed the mistake immediately, and apologized profusely. I requested that it be taken back to the chef and remade, which he did without hesitation. In the meantime, I took a bite of my hubby’s prime rib, dipped in au jus and creamed horseradish. The prime rib is not my favorite pick of meat, but his was cooked perfectly, and the bite was really delicious. His side of mashed potatoes wasn’t perfect, but still quite edible, along with baby carrots and asparagus. I didn’t mind waiting for my meal to be recooked since I was already starting to feel full on the carpaccio and soup. Aaron continued to stop by without seeming like he was trying too hard. Eventually, my plate reappeared, brought out by the maitre’d and it definitely had more pink, though it still wasn’t as much as I preferred. I took a bite and I was able to enjoy it. My meal was accompanied by potatoes au gratin, along with the baby carrots and asparagus. Overall, it was a good dinner. I appreciated the effort to make it right and to make the evening a positive experience. We finished with Godiva Chocolate Lava Cake for dessert, along with a cup of decaf coffee. I liked that the coffee came with a tray loaded with little blocks of cream, sugar, chocolate stirs, and chocolate shavings. I took a few bites to satisfy my sweet tooth, finished the ice cream, knowing that wouldn’t make it home, and boxed the rest for later. I would be willing to venture this restaurant again, if nothing else but than to feel like I’m dining at sunset on Lake Tahoe. Oh, and the three cheese bread was excellent. And I would be more than happy to request Aaron as my server.
