I love the cheese board, I had not been in a while but I just want to rave about how amazing their Tuna Salad Sandwhich is. They have such fresh ingredients and they are fast so you can get in and out quickly for lunch! I like that you go up the counter to order and you can sit and find a table. This place is really cute and small, it really gives a good feel to the midtown area. I would reccomend for lunch!

First time trying this place and it did not disappoint! I love the way the place is set up — you order at the front counter, take your seat and your food is brought out to you before you know it. I had a inca quinoa chicken salad — on point & very filling! My girlfriend had the«trio» — grilled cheese sandwich, soup & salad — AMAZING! We both loved our meals and they came out super fast! We’ll definitely be back here soon. Highly recommend :]

I placed a phone order a week ago and was very pleased by the customer service I received when I picked up my order. The food was good

Yummy! Everything on the menu looked fantastic, I had a hard time choosing. Portions were huge, which was great. Lots of food for your money. Quick and friendly service. The cashier said it can get pretty packed, but we came on a day where seating was not a problem. Will definitely be back the next time I am in Reno!

This place is pretty good, it’s a nice place for lunch, a cute little midtown shop. The soups are fantastic — if they have the Seafood Bisque(which pops up as a Daily Special every once and while) you MUST try it. Best soup I’ve ever had.

Meh. I got a chicken sandwich with Swiss on it and it was just so bland. I also don’t like how it’s not really a restaurant. I could’ve made that $ 13 sandwich at home

The Cheese Board is locally owned and operated restaurant located on California Avenue, near downtown in Reno. Love this place! Perfect choice for a lunch spot with a significant other, friend, or for a business meeting. The selections are made fresh with what seems to be high quality ingredients. Lunch is extremely busy so get there before noon to get a table!

Delicious! Grilled sandwiches are light & crisp. Just enough butter to be grilled but not greasy. Savory soups and quaint atmosphere. The service was friendly and welcoming too. Can’t wait to go back!

Yay, another fantastic spot to study that I can add to my faves. They’ve got all the requisite elements to make for a good solo study date… wifi, coffee, great food, wine, a few sweets, free parking. I will certainly be back! And it was a great place to meet up with a few other people. You order as you enter, so you don’t have to deal with all the problems of splitting the bill afterward. Now to the food… I ordered the grilled cheese(I forget the name but it had multiple cheeses in it). This was quite good, but even more amazing when ordered with the butternut squash soup. Holy moly, this was a fantastic soup! So rich and smooth, I may come back just for that next time! And made for great grilled cheese dipping medium. The quinoa side salad that came with it was quite unique as well. It had dried berries, among other things, which made it stand out. I also tried some of the orzo salad, which I didn’t realize I would enjoy as much as I did. The quiche was pretty good(sorry, not quite Hi Point quality quiche though– but I’d still get it again). I sampled the other soup– I think it was chicken pasta with lemon soup. That would be the perfect soup to heal an upset stomach… I may come back for a to-go order of that when such future events arise. I really enjoyed the iced tea bar. It was fun to sample a variety of teas and select the one I wanted without having to commit to a particular drink before trying it! When I arrived at 11:30, there was plenty of parking in the lot, but when I left around 12:30, there were vultures waiting for me to pull out. Not sure the likelihood of nearby street parking is though. In the restaurant itself, there were quite a few tables. Even when it seemed like there were a lot of people dining, there were still empty tables. I have also heard they cater. If I ever need it, this sound like an excellent option. Everything I tried was enjoyable and I will definitely be back!

I love cheese and I have an affinity for snooty places that sell cheese and goofy salads and sandwiches. This place never disappoints. I was in a rush and wanted something to just nosh on during the day so I went with the Cheese Plate. It was filled with all sorts of little treats. There was so much that I ate parts of it for 2 days after. The service is steady however you are treated better if you know the servers and order takers. Maybe it’s because I wasn’t dressed«right». The ordering process seems a little chaotic at lunch time but it is worth the wait. They also have really lovely packaging. If you like Lemon Bars then this place is a must. Tastes like they use Meyer Lemons and it’s just scrumptious.

Stumbled upon this place by accident. Love the ambiance and food there. Fresh light portions that are very flavorful. I just had soup and salad but can’t wait to come back and see what else they have to offer.

This place is lovely! I often enjoy lunch here with my girlfriends! My favorites include the tuna sandwich, the chicken salad, and the smoked turkey. But I always wait and see what’s on special for the day! Their quiche is heaven, and my girlfriend swears that their soups are the best in town! The service is quick and the staff is friendly! It can be tough to get a seat during lunch hour, so plan accordingly.

A lucky random find! We weren’t looking for casino food. Something classy, fun, lighthearted, and yummy. We found it! What I like to call«Panera Style», walk in, look at a menu, order, grab your drink(unless it was wine), and right as you sit down, your buzzer goes off. We started with the cheese and cracker plate which was delicious. A wedge of gorgonzola cheese, aged gouda and creamy port salut served with red grapes, dried fruit, toasted almond, ancho chili jam, crostini and crackers with balsamic reduction. I continued on with the Ceasar Salad… which I would give a 7/10…but I am a Ceasar snob, so that ranks well. All others were very pleased with their soups and sammies. We did get a bottle of wine as well, which was priced extremely well. I’d go there before I went to BevMo.

I can’t believe I have driving by this place for 14 years and failed to check it out. I made it a point to try all the Reno Bites places this year. Cheese Board is another great spot. Usually just open for lunches and I noticed for the summer they did early dinners. We stopped in just before noon on a Friday, good timing. It starts to get really busy at noon. Order at the counter and pay, food is prepared to order and brought to the table. Large selection of sandwiches and salads. They even had quite a nice wine selection. I tried the Reno Bites special slider, great flavor in the hamburger with lots of toppings. And a salad that was guiltless combination with the burger. The grilled chicken sandwich also had wonderful flavor and was very filling. Both meals under $ 10 each. I will definitely be returning, there’s a great menu that needs further eating, and some wine to sip.

This is a quaint, yet very hip café with some seemingly amazing food. There are two lines for ordering to keep everyone moving smoothly, whether you desired«to go» or «for here». We chose to dine in and snagged the last orzo pasta salad with chicken, which was big enough to share between our two not so big appetites at the time. To be more specific, the salad was served over organic baby spinach with grilled marinated chicken breast, sun dried tomatoes, fresh rosemary, scallions, chopped parsley, garlic, lemon, toasted walnuts and crumbled feta cheese with balsamic vinaigrette. The flavors were fresh and delightful and I would not hesitate in the least to get this salad again. I can see why this is a very popular place for lunch and I would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting a tasty bite in the midtown area. They also do catering for businesses and offer wine by the glass or by the bottle to savor at home.

I’m probably not going to add much the the array of reviews already put up here, but we went partly with the intent to add a review to our stack of Unilocal reviews to catch up on, so here goes! My wife and I had been by a number of times to try out the cheese board, I think she had even had lunch here years and years ago. But I was never really interested in expensive lunches with spoiled housewives or overpaid suits doing the business lunch. I don’t know if my assessment was correct back then, but it sure doesn’t apply now. They place was packed with what seemed to be working people catching a shot at a longer lunch. Sure there was an over stuffed shirt here or there, but the atmosphere was more«big city» vibe than anything. The ordering process was pretty simple. You look at the board you order either from the«to go» line or the«for here» line. We opted«for here» because it was just a nice lazy chill day with my wife. Man I love those. Anyway we ordered up some chicken pasta salad thing and headed to our table with our number in hand. A few minutes later our salad arrived and Wow! Yes, I said wow. The size of it was just right for a hungry luncher or for two grazers to nibble at over conversation. And a conversation is what we had… a little peek. «I remember when this place was not even in our price range. Back then I ate still ate too much fast food.» «Yeah sometimes it seems your price point has moved up but not always for the better.» «In my defense the price point here probably hasn’t grown as much as the fast food price point. I mean, 15 years ago the price of this salad was probably $ 8 and now it’s $ 12. 50% increase in price isn’t that bad. Considering the price of a Combo meal 15 years ago was no more than $ 3.50 and now it’s like $ 8!!» «Good point. Here eat these olives.» Any way I do find it refreshing that this place gives such a great value for such a great product! I really liked the beverage bar that they had too. Even if I didn’t partake, it was still pretty cool to have so many choices to drink. It may be a year or more before we get back… not because it’s bad, but just because we have so many more places to add to the« Unilocal» stack.
