The Grand Re Opening party on March 28th was a great way to show the new Beers they have on tap and try some of the newest pizzas that have been creating. The gentleman in charge of making these new pizzas, Eric I believe is his name, is doing a great job. The one that had me and my Wife the most excited was the Caprese pizza. I believe it was a special that night, but it is my hope they put it on the menu full time. Words will not do it justice, you will have to go there and try it yourself in my opinion. In regards to service, I have never seen the place so busy and despite the crowd the service was great. I have read reviews over time about how the staff is hit or miss, I have had great service the last few times I have been there and expect the service to stay great or keep improving. I am a member of Somersett and am so happy to see exciting life within roundabout 2. I hope more folks come check out the Grape and the Grain and even call ahead to get a music schedule. When they have live music the place really gets goin’. I hope this new management succeeds and the Owner listens to the great employees and management they now have. I really see potential for this place going forward. Check it out!

We were going every week in the beginning of 2014 for more than ½ the year we only live about 6 miles. The drinks and the unique pizza were awesome every time. Then all of a sudden it all went down hill, the pizza was returned several times one time we never even got the pizza and one time it was ½ right on the ingredients on one of their specials. We went back several times because we had loved it so much, but you cant just keep throwing away money. Please get back to where you were.

The last time I went in the beer was flat and the pizza was doughy. Asked to speak to a manager and no one was around. Disappointed

I hate leaving bad reviews, but after an attempt at sushi went south we decided let’s give them a try. I’ve wanted to try the blue cheese chips since 775 closed. Sit at the bar, one bartender running the place, ok I’ll cut some slack. 15 minutes in we get to order drinks, she pulls bottle of tequila down, that is where it sits for 15 minutes. Comes back does a few more things, then disappears, 5 minutes later informs me they have no sour mix, what else would I like. Order a different drink, then order chips with blue cheese, bacon and balsamic reduction. They can’t put balsamic reduction on the chips but they can put it on the side… Hmmmm ok fine, silly policy but whatever. 15 minutes later(55 minutes in now) she brings us a basket of chips(looks at me and says I’m not happy how these look, what can I do to fix it, ok at least she offered) chips don’t look fresh or hot as menu states, there is cubed white chicken on them and a side of ranch dressing… No they don’t look right, that’s not what I ordered! I say I asked for bacon not chicken, blue cheese not ranch and I forgot they are out of balsamic. So basically the only item right was chips, which were still not really right. She offered to get me a salad, well I was looking at the caprese but no balsamic. Needless to say we finished drinks and went home. Not worth the drive up there to give another chance

My husband and I have been here MANY times over the last few years and it has had it’s up and downs. However, even in the downs, it’s was good! The service wasn’t always on par but lately, it’s been great! I really like the pizza out of the brick oven and the salads are great to share! The only thing I miss is their huge selection of wine! But either way, I like it and I’ll keep coming back!

All crust very little toppings. Very disappointed. Especially when you are paying over $ 20.00 for a large veggie pizza. Won’t be back.

Take a packed bar loaded with football fans watching a former schoolmate for most(49ers QB Colin Kapernick) in the biggest game of the season being served by one over-worked bartender. That was the latest G&G experience. The place is a far cry from what it once was,

The Grape and The Grain is a nice little place. You walk in, seat yourself and start looking at a menu. It looks like they just have a bartender who also waits on customers and a chef. Simple and easy, but you can tell there is a little feeling of forgetfulness when the place fills up. Ours was very attentive and courteous though even if he was busy. You can order off The Grape and The Grain menu as well as from the place next door, Babe Matteri’s. Both menus look fun so we ordered the coconut prawns and spinach and artichoke dip from Babe Matteri’s and the Tiger’s Blood pizza from Grape. The artichoke dip is amazing! The prawns, all three of them, are good, but definitely not worth 4 dollars a shrimp. The pizza was awesome as well. Very interesting pizza ingredient wise, but yummy. The negative is that with only one person working, when my drink got empty, I ordered, then after 15 minutes I just went up to the bar to get a refill. So that was a bit of a bummer. In the end, food is pretty tasty. Beers on tap are a plus as they have some different things available. I suggest sitting at the bar for the fastest and best service during the night. Prices are fair, maybe a couple bucks high on some stuff, but really it should be expected if you go out to eat to spend a little more. It looks like a fun place to sit, hang out, have some pizza, watch a game and relax.

We were in for beer and a pizza, on a busy weeknight a little while back. Seated at the bar, we ordered our beers and the pizza straightaway. Enjoying our beers and conversation, we realized that others around us had received their food, and that about 45 minutes had passed. Inquired about the pizza, and were told our order had been«lost». So we reordered, but by this time, our top 2 crust choices had«run out», so we had to have the«cracker» crust. In all fairness, the pizza was quite good, when it finally arrived another 30 minutes later. We did have a portion of the bill removed due to this. We did go in for beer and snacks at other times, and since this is a neighborhood bar, the servers are bound to have favorites. But there have been times that we were met with downright indifference, as well as times it has taken one of us to gesture to get someone’s attention after sitting for greater than 5 minutes, 3 feet away. The aspect of service, and communication between staff needs to be improved, in my opinion. So as cozy as this place is, it’s off our list of places to bend an elbow.

I keep trying this place and seem to be more and more disappointed each time. We live right up the road, we have walked here when it’s warm, brought the dog, sat on the patio and had a beer = perfect. Want to watch a game and have dinner? Fail. Whether it be March Madness or football playoffs, this place does not plan accordingly. They don’t open early for games, offer any specials or stay well staffed for known events. Tonight? Wilted lettuce salad, out of wings, uncooked meat on nachos, burnt pita w/hummus…did I mention the 10−15min wait at the bar for service? Not exaggerating. To prove I’m not a total jerk, I waited tables and bartended for 10 yrs and know how brutal it can be. We told the manager(who is a nice guy) about our experience and he was way apologetic. I hope things turn a good corner because I want this place to work but damn, this is pretty bad folks. PS– Bring back Sarah the bartender! She was awesome and knew exactly how to do good business!

Super disappointed in what looked like such a cute and fun place from the outside. Game room? Beers on tap? Live music? Small menu? Great in concept, poorly executed. We came with a group of five on a Thursday night. My boyfriend tried to order three different beers that were advertised, all were out. Waitress was apologetic, but I don’t understand why they had it on the chalk menu, if they were out of it. We ordered food: medium pizza, small pizza, three folds. The medium pizza came out first. Then the small. Ten minutes later, two of the folds. She apologized. Said they had a new cook. Ten more minutes. She apologized again. Five more minutes… we’re all done with our food. She clears our plates. Apologizes again. Offers my boyfriend a free beer. He has to drive us back to Truckee, so I thought that was a little tasteless to offer alcohol and not comp the food. Five minutes later, the manager comes over, says the cook read the order wrong and made a pizza instead of a fold. Is now making the fold. Offers a free beer. At that point, my boyfriend was so hungry he would have eaten his arm. At no point did they offer to comp the meal, bring out some appetizers, bring out the mistake pizza, ANYTHING that could have made the experience redeemable. FINALLY we get the meal that we had ordered 1.5 hours earlier, and he wolfed it down. We made to leave, and one of our party accidentally dropped a glass, to which the manager at the bar who had talked to us earlier started a big applause at the bar for the«party foul.» Nothing could make me return to that place. I’ve worked in restaurants a long time, and the first thing you do is admit when you’ve made a mistake, and take steps to repair damage. People will tell ten friends about a bad experience. Or go on Unilocal

Nice place. Was better under Mikes Management. New management is making this place less appealing.

My sister-in-law and I decided to try this place yesterday afternoon for lunch. We got there about 11:30am and the doors were locked. I read the sign which said they were opened so we walked around to the other set of doors which were also locked. Finally some guy opened the door and literally asked us what we wanted and of course we said we came to eat. He seemed annoyed and bothered from the moment we got there almost like he had better things to do and telling him we had a LivingSocial deal seemed to make matters worse. He seemed irritated with us the entire time which came with a great deal of heavy sighing, eye rolling, complete attitude and lack of service, which was astonishing given that we were literally the ONLY people in the entire restaurant! Then we were told that they hadn’t even turned their oven on so we were going to have to wait before they could even cook our food. Every time he came to the table which wasn’t very often he was completely rude. I asked him if he was the owner and he answered«yes.» I was floored that an owner of a business would treat his customers in the manner that he did. After we finished eating we sat there waiting for our check while he stood behind the bar talking with someone who walked in and completely ignored us. After waiting for what seemed like an eternity my sister-in-law finally got up and approached him letting him know we were ready to check out. He told us we could just leave since we had the LivingSocial deal. She asked him if he wanted the number off of the coupon and with a good eye roll and heavy sigh he said«I guess» and walked around to the register. As she was checking out I came out of the restroom and she told me how rude he was yet again. I was so irritated with our whole experience that I approached him and asked him if we had done something to offend him or if he was annoyed that we had a LS deal. He said«no its the last day for that deal so I figured I would get a lot of people using that coupon» I said well then I don’t understand why you have been so rude to us. I told him had he not been the owner I would have made sure I got a hold of the owner to notify him how horrible our experience was there. I told him it was my first and last time ever stepping foot in his restaurant. You would think that as a business owner this would be a good time to say something to make the situation right and earn someones business back but instead he just looked at me and said«Ok.» Besides the horrible service, the food was terrible and the portions were comical. We actually stopped by Taco Bell after wards which was more filling and satisfying than that place. Maybe now the owner will understand why he had two customers in his entire restaurant during what most well established, quality restaurants consider to be a busy lunch hour.

Will never go there again bad service argent bartender(Chris I think) very rude. Had to go to the bar to place order and then the bartender and cook sat at bar to eat there dinner in front of all guests. Food that they prepared there I’m sure at the owners expense. If your not a local don’t bother will make you feel very uncomfortable! Had the beer sampler then bartender could not tell me which beer is which. I liked one so I asked for a pint of that one and got a different beer that was not even on my sampler.(two thumbs down) they definitely need better servers/bartenders? Food just ok! Not worth the drive out there.

This cool bar is a well kept secret, because it’s hidden in Somersett. They have about 10 great brews on Tap. The salads & pizzas here are good. If your looking for a place that won’t be jammed with tourist and yuppies, this is it.

I was entirely impressed with this little place in the Somersett Town Center. The atmosphere was classy and the people were nice. They also have a great selection of bottled wines available for purchase. We started off with drinks. My Fiancé got the Top Shelf Margarita and I got the Draft Beer Sampler(4 small glasses of your choice). We ordered the Chicken Nachos as an appetizer, which was baked in the oven with the chips, chicken, and cheese, before adding the salsa and guacamole(amazing). My Fiancé got the Caesar salad, which was huge, but could have used some more dressing. I got the Copenhagen Gyro, which again was huge, and delicious. It came with fresh, homemade potato chips, which were also really good. I was really amazed by how good the food was for a small place like that which is more of a beer and wine place(just read the name). We are excited to go back next Friday.

The Grape & The Grain is in the Somerset Town Square old Whispering Vine wine bar location. The signs outside haven’t changed but don’t let that stop you from going inside. There is no web presence that I could find, so bookmark this review for now. A great wine bar atmosphere with varied seating(bar, table and comfy fireplace seating) and a huge selection of great wines ranging in price from reasonable to pricey(well, for my pocketbook anyway). This means that its a great place for a group of friends with different budgets. They also have a coffee bar and morning munchies. I was not there in the morning, but am told that the selection can vary from day to day, so if you find yourself visiting on a regular basis tell the owner Mike what your favorites are and ask him to carry them. I think any new business would be glad for that sort of feedback. I stopped in for wine with an old friend and found myself staring at the days specials(they all were tempting). Now I am a huge hot dog fan and frank-ly I think that Reno is lacking a good classic hot dog joint. In my opinion there is nothing as tasty as a steamed Caspers dog, especially if you get it at Caspers in old Oakland. On the menu was a «Steakhouse» dog(using Casper’s). Now let me tell you, the thought of Blue Cheese and Grilled onions grabbed me right away, although I think it was purely out of shocked curiosity, but let me tell you. It was a combination I will never forget. If its not on the menu, ask for it. It will be worth it I guarantee it. I was a little surprised that for $ 5 the dog didn’t come with chips or fries, so be sure to ask for a side if you are expecting one. The service was very friendly and quick for me and I was very pleased. The Steakhouse dog was SO good, that I will have to go back. There were so many different items on the menu that I will have to definitely go out of my way to try their other menu items. I would recommend that others go out of their way to try it too.
