The Montage always has something happening. This evening there was music in the lobby. Sounding good Montage!

This is an update to my previous review. I lived at Montage for 1 year and would definitely do it again. The Montage is now nearly at capacity, and the buildings around it are no longer vacant. I believe the Rise Night Club is across the street. This place only gets better. Not great for kids though, which is why I no longer live there. Now I’m in a house where I can look out the front window and watch him play with the other neighborhood kids. As far as buying a unit, the party was over 2 years ago. The price of units is no longer favorable over other buying alternatives in town. As an investment, it is no longer a great value. As a place to live, you can’t beat the Montage. At last check, HOA fees were something like $ 0.50/sqft which sounds really high but you have to consider the amenities and cost of upkeep. Still the class of Reno! But if you wanted to live there *and* feel like you got away with murder on the selling price… sorry you’re too late. It was too late when I wrote my first review :(

This used to be a casino in downtown Reno. Now it’s been converted to condos. There are several different floor plans and a wide range of prices. The complex has great amenities with a very nice pool, hot tub, and barbecue area, along with a really large exercise facility with quite a few nice machines. The location is terrific as you have lots of restaurants nearby, the movie theater just down the street, and the main Reno strip of casinos basically a block away.

The words«Reno» and«urban» don’t always go together. For all of it’s highrise casinos, there are relatively few urban dwellers in Reno. It is, for better or worse, a suburban sprawl type of town. This has slowly started to change over the past 5 years or so with the relatively recent additions of the Palladio and Montage. Whereas the Palladio is all-new construction housed on the site of a former movie theater(the Granada for those that remember that far), the Montage is a thoroughly extensive redo of the old Flamingo Hilton/Golden Phoenix. The building was stripped town to it’s steel structure and two additional floors were added on top(penthouses). As far as truly upscale, urban residences go, there is nothing finer to be found in a roughly 120 square mile radius. The Montage is the place to be for discriminating urbanites and those that appreciate the low-maintenance and unique charm of highrise living. The Palladio comes close, but falls somewhat short on amenities and variety of floor plans. The pool and hot tubs are open year round and located on a vast patio deck on the South side of the building that also includes a clubhouse/pool room that can be reserved for parties. The dog walk is located on the same floor on a separate patio deck on the North side of the building(a blessing for pet owners). The gym is located a few stories down and has a good mix of quality equipment. The main lobby is manned by security and/or a front desk greeter 24⁄7. All parking is located underground in a 3 story parking structure. The parking garage is accessible via a separate elevator; A minor inconvenience requiring you to get off the main tower elevator at either the ground or 3rd floor and walk around the corner to a separate elevator. I lived at The Montage in 2010⁄2011 and loved my time here. My neighbors were great. The staff was great(I miss Linda!). The amenities and features found in the building are above reproach(dedicated bike/kayak storage, available additional storage at the garage or on the 3rd floor, glass enclosed patios, hard wood flooring, granite countertops, gym, pool/spa, clubhouse/pool room, secure underground parking, round the clock security, etc.). The only thing that truly needs improvement is the ground floor retail which still sits empty to this day. If the people currently running the Montage are smart they will work with potential tenants to negotiate flexible lease deals similar to what The Palladio did with Campo(Campo’s rent is based on how much profit the restaurant makes). The Palladio’s retail spaces seem to be thriving so they must be doing something right! Retail is the final puzzle piece in what is an otherwise excellent building with a growing number of tenants.

What a great place to live. I love the mix of residents, the vibrancy of living downtown, and the beautiful view from our expanse of windows. The staff are fantastic and the building is beautiful.

I live here. It’s as great looking on the inside as the outside. We have great people working here and great neighbors, both weekenders and full time residents. It is absolutely awesome to walk to The Knitting Factory, the bars and restaurants and then wander home. There are two security personnel on the job at night to keep the homeless and rowdies from relieving themselves on the building, so it’s all good. Yeah, we need some retail and a restaurant on the ground floor but it will happen, and a lot sooner than at the Riverwalk. Prices are way down from when the building opened so check it out.
