Ace Hardware

This place was fantastic until about a year ago. They used to have a very helpful guy named Glenn. Since he left I can’t find any assistance. Sad. McClendon’s is close by though.

Went in to get paint and the clerk couldn’t be bothered to help me. He waved me to the area he thought I wanted. Super disappointing.

It’s a chain hardware store, and it does that a-​ok. It’s not one of the behemoth locations taking up 5 square miles, but rather a grocery-​store sized outpost intended for locals to be able to pop in and pick up that duct tape or screw during a quick home project.
It’s really great for that.
It’s not great for:
— things you might only find in the massive locations. You’re not going to pick out your new water heater or price out your kitchen remodel here.
— staff advice has, for me, been poor. I asked about getting a stripped screw out, and the guy told me he didn’t know, maybe just try harder. TRY HARDER? We put a man on the moon 40+ years ago and you’re telling me you think there’s not a solution to this? (FYI there are tools or you can use a rubber band).
— there’s ALWAYS a person standing up front trying to get you to enter a drawing for windows. Please, stop that.

I was really impressed with the customer service I received while dropping off screens to be repaired Mike was cordial, informative and helpful In telling me that I could get screens replaced /​repaired there. Then, to my surprise I picked up the screens and met the screen repair guy named Arden (Ardon ?) he was professional, courteous, and did an A Plus job. I couldn’t be happier with the quality of work and Exceptional customer service, both by Mike and Arden. I hope their manager sees this Unilocal.We used to frequent the big box stores but after seeing the inventory of items in Ace and this superb customer service, we will be supporting this Ace Hardware. We’ve been coming to the Ace Hardware store for ten years, they are so informative and helpful, plus the prices are comparable to the box stores in the area. I enjoy walking in and know that Steven is going to help me get just what my husband wants. Its spring now and I feel like I’m there daily getting this or that for home projects. I feel almost like family there and the manager has always treated us fairly and given us good deals on other items when they are out of the sale item. I will continue to check with them first and get my huge hello and a warm smile.

The Ace Renton Highlands store is convenient to my home but the staff is what makes it top notch! Dawna, Glenn, Tuan, et al are always helpful and pleasant.

While this store is convenient and very close to home I am really tired of the people that are standing just inside the door trying to get me to buy something or sign up for something. If I was interested in being «attacked» by a salesperson I would stay home as they usually come to my door. I have avoided this place and gone the extra 1.5 miles down to Lowes just to avoid these «salespeople» ! I hope that ACE will review these sites and stop putting people at the door.

Won’t accept returns for items purchased at a different ACE H/​W.

Great little hardware store… Here are the Pros and Cons:
Pros:
You can come in here and find almost anything you need. The staff is friendly and helpful.
They have a very LARGE selection of screws. I especially like the chrome screws and nuts selection
Cons:
They sometimes have a lady in front that try’s to get you to enter a drawing and signs you up for free in home estimates. After a couple of years of seeing that on and off… on and off… its gets very old very fast.
I once was putting our baby crib together and needed a couple extra screws. Called them at 8:40 to check what time they closed, they said 9 pm. So I jumped in my car and ran over… got there at 8:53
The lights were off and the doors locked. I saw one of the guys in the front and he let me in. The lady manager in the back started scolding him why he let me in. I told them hey! its 8:53 I called in and still have 7 minutes left! She then said… oh well our registers are closed and we have no cash… I said no problem. I have a credit card… then she said well our computers are shut down… I said listen… I don’t care… there is a sticker on the front door that Said’s that these doors must remain open during business hours. I told them I need these screws and that I would come in the next morning to pay. She agreed and I did come in next morning to pay and complained to the store manager. He was nice and apologized.
Just be careful when it gets late they sometimes tend to close a couple minutes early… if you will be stopping by a couple minutes before closing for a last minute part. make sure to call and let them know you are coming!

Best price I’ve ever seen!

Not as good as McLendons but much better than the other two big box stores. I can always find what I need without a GPS and a map, too. The really nice part is not having to worry about weekend carpenters hitting me in the shins with those stupid carts with a load of 2x4s.

Good neighborhood hardware store. Keeps my condo in good shape for all repairs. They have a limited selection for just about everything. Trust me, you did not want to see anything else anyway. Be assured the selection is from the best materials available!

I love that I have a great hardware store just minutes from my house! The staff are friendly — not not nearly as knowledgeable as McLendons. Ace is great for those last minute things that you’ve forgetten — or to get keys made.
I had to get several keys made and a car air fresherner for my trip — but they were out of keys so I ended up at the Fairwood Ace. Oh well! The store is still clean and the staff are helpful and quick.
