All Spark Electric

In January, I reached out to All Spark for an estimate. On initial contact, via email, Alex stated: «Depending on where your home is located we have a $ 69.00 charge if no work is done.» Later, via phone, Alex stated that due to proximity, (my home is 4.5mi from All Spark’s address) I would not be subject to this charge. Alex’s quote for my work was 267% of a comparable electrician ($ 2000 with Alex, $ 750 with a competitor); I chose not to hire All Spark. Alex has now decided that I am subject to the $ 69 charge, claiming no such verbal proximity agreement, and that all locations are now subject to a minimum $ 69 charge.

On Monday night, we came home from vacation to find that our garage was without power. The rest of the house was fine. After all the normal tricks (flipping breakers, pushing buttons), we knew we had to call an electrician.
A neighbor recommended Alex, so I gave them a call. I called Tuesday morning at 8:30, and was surprised when Alex picked up so early in the morning. They were full on Monday, but he said he could come Tuesday morning. He gave me instructions on how to hook an extension cord to my deep freezer, so I wouldn’t lose my groceries while I waited. (I wasn’t sure which cord would be big enough.)
On Wednesday morning, at 8am on the dot, he pulled up. I was immediately struck with how respectful Alex was. I don’t need to be treated like a queen, but I appreciate someone who understands they are a stranger asking for entrance to my personal living space. I pointed him to the electrical box in the garage, and also pointed out an outlet that had been giving us trouble, that we wanted replaced.
He got right to work. A few minutes later, he stuck his head in the door and said he had found the problem — that troublesome outlet had had a small electrical fire, which had cut power to the rest of the garage. Yikes! He explained exactly what he would do to fix it, warned me that he might need to mess up the wall a bit to get the old box out, and finished everything in about 45 minutes. They have a flat rate for the first hour. He wrote up a detailed invoice for me, including parts and labor, clearly described, and even thought to unhook my extension cord and plug my freezer back in.
I am extremely pleased!

In all fairness, our issue was pretty simple — needed a few breakers replaced — Alex also helped us diagnose an issue with our GFI circuit (and literally find the problematic breaker which for some reason was hidden under a shelf in the garage.
I called on Saturday, Alex came out exactly on time on Monday morning.
Outstanding, professional, prompt, clean. Explained in plain English the issues and the fixes. Nothing better than having no surprises with a vendor.

Called All Spark on a Saturday expecting to leave a message. Alex, the owner picks up and asks me if it’s an emergency. I said no, enjoy your weekend. We set up an appointment for Monday at 1. He calls me Monday at 12:40 to say he is on the way. Get’s here on time. Points out the problem and gets it fixed in 20 minutes. Great service, highly recommend.

Alex from All Spark Electric is GREAT! I had an electrical problem at the house I rent and Alex was able to get out within 24 hours (it wasn’t an emergency requiring IMMEDIATE attention but power WAS out to part of the house). Turned out to be a bad breaker that he identified and replaced very quickly. Alex also took the time to answer some questions both I and the landlord had and was professional, knowledgeable, polite, and just a nice guy. Also, while the breaker was a quick ID and fix, Alex took the time to ensure there were no other issues.
I asked for multiple business cards from him at the end of the job because not only do I have an electrician I will always call when the need arises, but I know exactly who to recommend to my friends now. I love being able to recommend local, small businesses!

Let me first start by saying it isn’t easy finding an electrician this time of year, so I got lucky Alex just happened to be nearby my house today. Finding a good honest contractor can be even harder!
Our electrical problem:
Microwave went up in a poof of plastic smelling smoke that permeated our entire house for a whole day. Wasn’t sure if it was a wire in the conduit or the actual microwave until they came out and looked into it. Reversed polarity fried my Microwave! So the socket was wired wrong and the Microwave finally died.
He also opened up our fuse box and found that most of the wires were loose in there which was causing other issues with our lights and outlets turning on and off randomly.
Additional work:
Well while they were here I decided to get two other outdoor light fixtures fixed and they did a great job with it. Fast and professional. I really liked his co-​worker as well. Super cool guys who know their stuff.
Conclusion:
I think we had a mis-​communication over the phone as to hourly rate or by the job, but after some negotiation we were able to come to a mutual agreement on price.
I will be recommending this contractor to friends and family.

I have a wonderful experience with Alex and All Spark Electric today! I called Alex on Thursday and he was able to do the work on the following Monday. He came early to go over the work after I got called into work unexpectedly. The price was $ 400 less than a previous quote I got and he was done quickly!
I really appreciate the professional attitude he showed today. He didn’t try to up-​sell me on unneeded services and provided excellent solutions to what our problems were. He also found something that was a fire hazard and fixed it correctly. We love our new fixtures and that our home now doesn’t have any electrical code violations! :)

I called Monday, Alex came out that same day later in the afternoon to give me my estimate. I told him I needed it done sort of asap, and he penciled me in for the following Wednesday. (I could tell he already had plenty of work this week and he still was willing to get me in)
I tried calling several other electricians, and they flaked out on me. That sad, Alex had me done in no time at all. He and his partner came and had everything done and cleaned up in about an hour or so.
I cannot believe I was able to call him one day, and then have him open up his schedule to accommodate me two days later. This was a great big help.

Job:
I needed a 240V 30Amp outlet and breaker installed in the garage. They had me hooked up and that includes the conduit to conceal the wiring as well. Everything is very neat and tidy. They left the place clean and like they never were even there.
Character and trustworthiness:
In my opinion, both Alex and Bill were very trustworthy. They arrived on time, and were actually out of here before the time they originally estimated. They were very respectful of my property, my time, and my wallet as well. Yes I could tell I paid a touch more in greenbacks, but seeing that I needed it done asap, that was a product of my own causation, and not them.
Professionalism:
They were very professional. I noticed that they took the time to find the studs behind the drywall, not poking random holes in my walls. They were also sure to move everything back in their respective spots as well. Alex comes with a handshake, and even leaves with a handshake, and even thank me for the opportunity to have served me. These kinds of things are important to me. He even took a bit of time to explain certain things as well.
This was an easy ⁵⁄₅ for me. Not a single thing I would change about this decision. At this time, real-​estate is selling like hot-​cakes. Understandably, there is a huge demand for electricians nowadays. And with business so plentiful, I could see the reason why the other two electricians leaving my small project, for bigger fish to fry. Alex was not in any way disrespectful or otherwise to me.
Recommendation:
Absolutely! In fact, should I need their services again, I will indeed call them again.

Definitely will use them again! My dryer plug had burned & melted, so I needed the outlet checked out before installing our new dryer. I called, expecting to wait a week or so. They were out to fix the problem within a couple of hours. Great job!

Alex Dowd sounded very excited about my kitchen remodel (with whole-​house code upgrade), but failed to follow-​through. Instead he wasted 2.5 hours of my time going over the details and my Wish List and scribbling on a floorplan. He promised the electrical plan and quote in 5 days… its been 2 months. I called and he said he was very sorry but he had too much work and «No, I really haven’t had time to call you to say so.» That’s the sort of Customer Service I find unacceptable. In my opinion hiring him and expecting COMPLETION of your project is risky… Zero stars.

As a landlord and homeowner the best thing you can have is a solid list of contractors. A roster of proven companies and individuals that bring quality, reliability, fair rates, and great customer service to the game. My electrician had retired and without referrals from family or friends my remaining option was an electrician resource site. So there I was… filling out a questionnaire and knowing I was about to be sold into eternal spamming hell.
Click ~ sigh, here we go. Immediately my in-​box chimes. I reluctantly look with clicker’s remorse. Just confirmation emails, all is good. Five minutes later my phone rings it’s one of the listed companies calling…
I speak briefly with the contractor and it quickly becomes clear that he is also the owner. Alex takes some notes and agrees to call when he returns to his office. Research is needed to put my contractor anxieties to rest. I find the business Web site and validate their license on the Labor & Industries site, the BBB site is also clear. Now I just need to find some user reviews… nothing.
Later that evening we speak again. Alex provides me with an estimate and follow up questions. He discovers that the project will need a permit and quickly helps me formulate a plan that we can execute on my short time line. I pull the trigger.
I can confidently state that All Spark Electric provides professional technical service, with an outstanding customer experience. Alex not only helped me accomplish my project on time, he did quality work (inspector’s comments), and he partnered with me to keep it within budget.
