First time here this afternoon for the public skate. It was very crowded but the rink is a good large size. The ice was not in good condition due to so many people. We wanted to rent a walker for my young daughter who doesn’t know how to ice skate. They said there weren’t any left. Later on the rink, someone gave one to us. So you just have to be patient about that, I guess. The rental skates are also not so great and the guy gave me a size 5 and told me it fits a size 6 too. Umm no it doesn’t. I had to return them and get a size 6 like I asked for the first time. Annoying. Also a broken locker ate my quarter but they did reimburse me!

My kids play ice hockey here. If you want your kids signed up for learning to ice skate, figure skate or learn to play hockey, this is by far the most efficient place in taking care of the necessary paperwork. This place is also run by several former NHL players and has ties with the Thunderbirds. The program is really good and my kids couldn’t get enough of it. They have family nights with the T birds, jersey’s, hockey rental gears, etc. It’s not cheap but it is well worth it. The staff(including the ones at Sharper Edge) are really helpful, too. If your kids lose or forgot a gear, they’ll help you out. They also have an ice rink in Kirkland and I believe they are negotiating to buy Kent Valley Ice. The only drawback is the Kingsgate rink tend to be a little colder(also smaller). There’s a small(warm) room to sit down but this spot can get a little crowded.

Not sure why the other reviewer went to an ice skating rink to play at an air hockey table. Seems like a troll review. I just moved out here from Pittsburgh where ice rinks are aplenty. Both rinks are good, but do need some improvements. The staff is courteous and very friendly at both. I love that the Zambonis are electric, but I wish they’d spent their money on enhancing the arena instead of reducing the carbon footprint of a Zamboni. My beef with the rink is that the locker rooms are not the tidiest in either Renton or Kirkland arenas. Kirkland is warm for spectators when the heat is able to turn on. The dryland ice area is pretty awesome to shoot pucks for free. However, the rink needs better lighting and the ice needs melted down once in a while to improve the skating surface. The pro shop needs to have hours during all hockey practice times, or just hire someone to cut skates. Renton has a great surface on the large ice(I haven’t been on the other small ice surface, yet). The lighting is adequate, the pro shop is open regularly, and the party rooms seem busy. This is the better of the 2 rinks and one can easily tell. The hockey programs are okay, but they are really focused on peewee to junior hockey. Given the capable coaching staff, mite hockey should be a much more exciting and developmental, but it seems they don’t want to lose young players, so they play games and teach very little hockey to mite players. My 7-yr old outplays most kids here and he was average in Pittsburgh. This is an early assessment and I hope to see improvement over time. We love hockey, so we want these arenas to succeed.

very crowded. They had an air hockey table in the lobby and we’ve tried to use it. We’ve deposited money and it didn’t work. The staff said: «we had an „out of service“ notice on it before but it fell off and got wasted. we are not gonna reimburse your money.»
