Me and my husband had been trying to come in here because of their«Come try something different» motto. And the first 3 times we came in at 9:20 and were told we could only order to go, which is ridiculous, with 40 minutes till closing time, but we wanted to try it so bad I came in the next day during the day. There were about 10 nice Hispanic ladies making«tamales» in the back and the register guy, we ordered and sat down, 10 minutes go by, okay no biggie, we are seeing the register guy walk around and bringing orders to other costumers, okay, 15 minutes go by and nothing, 20 minutes and while they guy was bringing some other party their food, he spots us and was surprised to see us there, and says«oh you guys ordered to eat in?» At this point my husband is clearly annoyed, but I didn’t care I wanted to try it so I gave them yet another chance. He then brings us our plates, but the food was extremely cold, like it had being siting in the to go box and it was just put on the plate, he didn’t even bother to re-heat it. The food itself was below average, it lacked condiments, but I did love their salsas, that’s why the 2 stars. Will not be back.

Ah sad to be giving two stars, but Tortas Locas was unfortunately pretty underwhelming :/My fiancé and I stopped in around 8:30pm on a Saturday evening to grab a quick dinner to go, and was surprised to see it pretty busy inside! Food took a while, but I think it’s because I thought it’d be more fast food style, which it’s not. We decided to try a torta, quesadilla(which btw, does NOT include cheese? 50cents to add cheese, even though I’ve always thought a quesadilla was cheese + tortilla) and churros. We got the Cubana torta, and though it’s a big sandwich stuffed with meat, it was $ 11 and lacked taste/flavor. Sad. As for the quesadilla, we got the mushroom and onion one, $ 5ish, and it was decently sized as well, but bland. Despite being starved, I didn’t even enjoy my meal. $ 22ish for everything, so not bad, but just not worth it when the food doesn’t have flavor. Oh, churros were probably the highlight! Shared them with some friends and we all enjoyed them. Fresh and hot, filled with dulce de leche? pretty good, especially in comparison to our meal. This may be the only reason I’d stop in again, but it’s not a must.

Food was great! Very unique taste and restaurant. Sandwich was very fresh with tomato and avacado but the bread may have been the best ingredient. Recommend this place for a causal quick good meal.

I ordered the Crazy Torta. It was huge and was uniquely awesome. I was worried about the hot dogs inside the sandwich because I am not a huge fan of hot dogs but the flavors melded nicely together and the hot dog meat just added to the yumminess. I have never had a torta before so as far as I am concerned this torta rocked 4 stars. The owner warned me that the sandwich may overwhelm me but I was down to eat at least ¾ of it. It’s huge! I also had the churros which were sweet and yummy.

This food is so bad. My husband got a sandwich and it looked like they had tsken left over meat from a pig hoof, added random hot dogs, and called it a sandwich. Even my enchiladas were terribly done. Never again

The tortas here are fantastic! The sandwich is huge! I’ve been here twice now and have had 2 different kinds of torta and I got a bite of my wife’s. They were great! They have horchata on the drink machine. You can’t go wrong ordering anything off this menu. Check it out! I’ll be back.

Not too happy about the service. My sandwich was sitting on the counter for over 10 minutes while the person was taking orders at the register. He could have easily finished the next order and excuse himself for a quick minute to give me my torta sandwich instead he kept on taking order after order. I literally had to go to the counter and ask for my order! When I finally got my sandwich home it was barely warm. I don’t know if it would have tasted better if it was hot or not but it was just okay. A little on the salty side for my taste. Not sure what all the hoopla rave is about. DEFINTELYNOT a place that I would need to visit it again.

My nephew was pumping this place up… and I was excited to try it out. Unfortunately coming from San Jose where Tortas are on every corner, I was a bit deflated. Sad face. So the Torta might not be that great but everything else looked spectacular. I’m use to huge tortas overfilling with meat, avocado and everything else. This was like a mexi-panini. I won’t give up on this place just yet, but tendon tacos, hot holy hell I want to try those. Everything else looked delicious and very authentic. The cashier/waiter was super friendly and the place is pretty clean. I dig it and dig giving them a 3 stars for now.

Went once & never going back. Worst mexican food I’ve ate in Renton! Dry, salty & bland. I’ve had better Mexican food in Oregon & I’m from Cali!

Ok I just have to post a review. Man, gotta thank the guy who helped me with my order. I was so overwhelmed by the menu, didn’t know what to get. He recommended either the two, Torta La Crazy, or the three, Torta Cubano. I went with the two, and man that thing was filled up! It had so much in it — breaded steak, hot dog, sausage, mozzarella, pork leg, chorizo, Mexican cheese, ham, a fried egg, and pork head. Dude, this was most def the cure to a hangover, well for me at least. I could only(barely) eat half of the sandwich. It was so so so good. Glad I’ll be having it or dinner later. I am in disbelief that I didn’t walk in sooner to Tortas Locas. Coming back for sure, and bringing friends!!!

Ambiance: Well-lit, seating area around the corner. Clean with bright colors. Food: Delicious and reasonably priced. I ordered 2 chorizo tacos and 3 asada tacos. They were flavorful and filling, topped with fresh cilantro and onion. My husband ordered the tinga tostada. We enjoyed the amount of spice and seasoning — it was just enough without overpowering the shredded chicken and making the tostada soggy. I ordered a horchata which was very good. Husband ordered a mango smoothie, which was phenomenal. Cost: Inexpensive. We got our money’s worth. Service: The team at Tortas Locas was friendly. The gentleman at the register is personable and friendly. He also suggested that we take a menu home when he overheard us discussing choices for our next visit. Tortas Locas is a great place for quick and inexpensive food. The folks are friendly and the food is quality.

Somewhat simple sandwich fair here, the enchilladas on the menu aren’t served, burritos too… just Tortas… but they take and their prices are about $ 8/sandwich or $ 3 with the $ 5 certificate… about $ 4.50 with tax and tip. Somewhat tasty too and a nice change from Subway…

This is a good place for a meal that’s not the usual stuff. Well, if you like Mexican food you CAN get some excellent authentic tacos, etc but the Tortas are what it’s all about. The Cuban is our favorite, we usually split one since they’re huge. Oh and don’t panic that the menu calls it hot dog sausage, it’s not a grody hot dog– it’s sausage. the prices are reasonable, the food is really tasty and the place is clean.

Tortas Locas means«crazy sandwiches» in Spanish and is located in a former 7-Eleven. I stopped here for a quick bite because I still remember my first torta, which was from a food cart near the Los Arcos hotel in Puerto Vallarta — and it was delicious. The ambience in Tortas Locas is «Aleluya». «Aleluya» is a term that Catholic Mexicans use to describe a Mexican whose religion is non-Catholic, and most likely is Christian Evangelical. On one wall in Tortas Locas are the Ten Commandments painted over a depiction of stone tablets. And on the far wall is more Scripture. The music is not cumbia nor banda nor ranchera nor even norteña. Instead, it’s the Mexican equivalent of Spirit 105.3. My preference would have been that the owners left their religion at home. The menu is deep. In addition to the tortas, there is a whole array of tacos, quesadillas, tamales, sopes and gorditos, and even chicharron. Beverage selection is strong — at least three fresh-brewed drinks, including jamaica and horchata are available — as well as your typical bottled drinks. Plenty of different types of salsa in squirt bottles too. The restaurant is immaculately clean. My JP would like Tortas Locas because on each and every table is a shaker filled with dried oregano. Your order at the counter and then they call your number when the order is ready. To get a broader perspective of their sandwiches, I ordered two, knowing full well that I wouldn’t be able to eat both, and that there were gonna be leftovers. I picked the Torta Salchicha(Hot Dog Torta) and the Carne Asada(Beef) Torta. I loved the toasted bread. The Torta Salchicha was made with a sliced frankfurter, chorizo, white cheese, tomato, onion and avocado. The Carne Asada Torta was made with a very nice cut of beef and like the other sandwich, came with avocado, tomato and onion. Both sandwiches had mayo. But here’s the deal, both sandwiches had a layer of refried beans smeared inside the bun. Honestly, the refried beans do not work at all. They make the sandwiches mushy and give them a blah flavor. So my four stars are for the broad selection of dishes and beverages, and also for the tortas… just as long as they are served without refried beans — because other than the refried beans — they were good(and hearty!).
