No problem with the people. But I do have have a major problem when I’m being told I would need a third transmission after barley getting 40k from the first two. I gave this place business for years, both in referrals and my own, but no more. No matter how nice they are on the phone, it doesn’t excuse either faulty products or faulty installs.

These guys are the best! I am working on an old truck and got recommended to them through my very reliable mechanic and this was just another great stop along my way of fixing my truck up. After driving there with a hole in my gut thinking I was going to be spending upward to $ 2k, i dropped off my truck and got a call within 15 minutes and he fixed the problem for a very minimal and honest price. I will definitely be bringing my truck back here when the time comes.

ive taken my nissan there twice and both times without a charge they did a full inspection nothing wrong with transmission unlike leons automotive they could have sold me something i didnt need get customer service i highly recommend them.

I had a problem with my transmission on Thanksgiving day. They were open the next day, and took care of everything. Mark and his staff are great, always a pleasure to work with. I recommend them highly. Every mechanic I know in the valley recommends them too, which is something to think about. Thanks Mark!

After 10 years, my transmission broke down and obviously it’s a really expensive problem to have. I took my car to a different mechanic that told me that I needed to replace the transmission, so I decided to take my car to a transmission expert to make sure it gets fixed right. Leon’s has been in business for like 50 years because they have a great reputation for what they do. Mark, who I think is the GM there, gave me different options with the costs and what the warranty would be, along with his recommendations. Replacing your transmission is always expensive and generally a terrible situation to be in but I’m glad I at least got someone who can do it correctly and quickly.

Leon’s transmission wants your business. They have a smooth talking manager/​salesman with an I-​feel-​your-​pain voice. But caveat emptor — please read the following verbatim letter from my insurance company. Got a Small Claims Court judgment against Leon ‘s Transmission on September 12, 2015.
A Mercury appraiser took exterior photos of the physical condition of the vehicle and was supposed to return to verify if there was accident-​related transmission damage to the vehicle «and this is why [the insured ] authorized the repairs, as [the insured] thought that Mercury had seen the transmission in a torn down state. I am just letting you know this as it seems that Leon’s Transmissions, jeopardized Mercury’s opportunity to inspect the transmission in the torn down state as they were suppose to contact us once they transmission was torn down, and falsely led [the insured] into assuming that Mercury had already completed an inspection of the transmission while it was torn down. They seemed to completely bypass what [the insured] wanted (which was a Mercury approved inspection of the torn down transmission) and took it upon themselves to make the decision that the transmission damage was unrelated to this loss.»

I was referred to this establishment from a friend when the Honda dealership in mission hills said there was nothing wrong with the transmission when I clearly heard a noise I’ve never heard before and they refuse to check it out.
Got helped by the receptionist Delilah and she was very helpful. They checked my car out and came back within the estimated time frame. Turns out the torque converter was making some noise and there is a problem with the transmission thanks for the second opinion guys.

I recommend this place. Recently I had to replace My 06 hyundai entourage transmission and they did it nicely. No mechanical problem so far.

Malfunctioning cars are clearly a really touchy subject to a lot of people. I’m sad to see that this has resulted in a lot of «kamikaze» reviews for this place. In my experience, their assessment of my situation corroborated with and built upon what I had already been told by two other businesses up the referral chain that day, and their appraisal of its cost lined up with the expectations I had received from parents and other sources.
What really made the experience special was interacting with Mark. He was charming, funny, and totally honest in his interactions with me, telling me that the cost what we were looking at either significantly cut into or surpassed the value of my car at this point. From the moment I brought the car in, I received phone calls from him every few hours with updates about the diagnosis process. In every check-​in, he updated me about what the cost COULD be from low end to high end, without charging me anything, since more inspection was needed.
It ended up with my car getting held over there overnight just to put the pan back on, but hey, I understand. The shop is busy as hell and this was a fairly low-​priority case, and I live on foot away from this business, so I could afford to lose my mobility for a few more hours. Ultimately I decided not to go through with fixing things, but when all is said and done, they inspected the hell out of my situation from every angle and only charged me $ 45 for the labor on the oil pan.
When I came back into the shop, I saw Mark carefully treating other customers with the same accessible and professorial nature that he treated me with. I really appreciate the way the whole situation was handled, and they definitely have my trust on transmission problems moving forward.

In less than 3 years, my rebuilt transmission is dead. And when they did it, I had to take it back twice. Not happy.

$ 4000.00 for a rebuilt transmission and 2 weeks later it’s back in the shop for the same problem!!!

Went by ol Leon’s yesterday because my 04 f150 was leaking some fluid. I explained that I just had the oil pan gasket replaced at my regular mechanic and it must be coming from the tail housing extension gasket. Anthony came back and offered to replace the oil pan gasket and then leave it over night to see if that does the trick $ 134(in my industry we call that a parts swapper)(basically a trans fluid change minus the filter I’m sure!), I went home and hosed down the tranny and watched it for about 3 or 4 mins and was able see it leaking from the tail gasket (not the pan gasket), So I even called back to ask Anthony how much he would charge to replace that gasket, he said «let me give you a call right back with that» still no word back !. I don’t mind paying for quality work (as I have received quality work from Leons about 12 years ago) but don’t insult people by being lazy on your diagnosis. I hope the next transmission leak that comes in there at least gets wiped down and visually inspected.(you know treated like a warranty claim that they want to fix timely and at minimum cost) So in the end it was my tranny that needed hosing not me!

I went in a few months ago. As stressful as it is to have a transmission problem the staff here did all they could to make the process smooth. Mark Anthony and iris were all great help. Mark is very knowledgeable ! Makes you feel as if you took a whole course on transmissions. They make your car and you their first priority. Keep in mind. transmissions work is not cheap… But knowing your money is going towards amazing work is what counts !!!:)

I needed my tranny fluid changed on my VW Turbo Diesel so I took it in to Oil Stop, because they always do the fluid changes on my vehicles. After looking at my car they realized that they didn’t carry the parts/​fluids for my car and then recommended Leon’s. I don’t normally just follow the recommendation of someone I don’t know, so I did a little calling around to a few places and nobody was willing to do the service on the car. I called the dealership and they quoted me $ 385. I finally called Leon’s and Dustin quoted me $ 225. I checked Unilocal and they had good reviews, so I dropped the car off later in the afternoon, and early the next day was called back by Dustin telling me it was ready to go.
HERE“S THE KICKER! They quoted me $ 225, but said the work went quicker than expected and the total was only $ 160. I don’t remember the last time I went to a auto service place and they delivered the service for less than they quoted. I’m very happy!
Also, Dustin was very pleasant on the phone, and easy to coordinate with. I highly recommend them.

Anthony was the best. We went for a second opinion on our transmission (felt we were being lied to by the place we bought the car). Anthony inspected and diagnosed our car for free. He gave us a quote, and sent us on our way with instructions to «call anytime if you need anything or have any questions.» We then took the car back to where we bought it and presented Anthony’s findings. The transmission is now being replaced under the very limited warranty. Anthony was very friendly, knowledgable and fast.

Very excellent customer service. I brought my car in on a saturday morning know it would be busy, and they did check out my car, but I did not receive a free estimate. Rather they told me I needed to bring my car back on Monday morning and the charge was $ 75 to run an electronic diagnostic. It was a bit misleading. Unfortunately I wasn’t a fan of having to pay to find out what was wrong with my car, when I already knew. I may try again as they were good with communication.

They installed a tranny for me and it was a flawless transaction. They explained all my options and I saved almost a grand in the process. Since it was
truck they worked extra fast and I got it back in four days. As far as I am concerned there is only one transmission shop in the valley worth the effort and that is Leon’s.

Great services at great prices. I took my car over here after AAMCO on Canoga said MAY have a leak on my front seal, but would not show me the pan under the tranny to show the leak, nor would they let me in to see the leak myself after I had asked before approving a $ 1200 job.
So I drove my car down to Leon’s, and had them replace my transmission fluid (the job I had originally asked AAMCO to do), and asked them to take a look to see if there were any other problems. I got my car back, they said nothing was wrong with my car. I told them what AAMCO said, and they said they saw no evidence of a leak and that my transmission as fine.
This was about a year ago, and I’m going to head back today to get my transmission serviced again by them.
Also, about Morgain’s report — Transmissions are EXPENSIVE to rebuild. Average prices are between $ 2500 – 5000, depending on the car. $ 3000 seems around the right price, even seems to be on the low end of the spectrum. I’ve done some rebuild work on them myself in the past, and its a painful, labor intensive task.

These guys are awesome! I went in and got a free inspection, and in finding nothing wrong with the car they suggested leaving it over night so they could drive it cold in the morning. They offered me a free ride to the subway and picked me up again in the morning. The next day we had a long discussion about how much fixing the transmission could cost, what my options were, and ultimately what they would suggest, which in this case was that the car wasn’t worth it. This all without paying a penny.
It’s nice to now shops like this are still in business. I’ll be going back for sure.

Unilocal is probably the worst thing that ever happened to car mechanics who like to take advantage of desperate people, especially women who don’t know a lot about cars.
In 2007, I had an extended warranty on my Toyota Echo.
Leon’s Transmissions charged the warranty company $ 1500 and me personally $ 1500, so, about $ 3000 DOLLARS. About THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS to rebuild a transmission for my 2000 Toyota Echo. Seriously. I can post a picture of the receipt if anyone wants to see it.
If you need repairs, I found an honest, ethical mechanic named John at Japanese Auto Tech in North Hollywood. He’s amazing and fixed my brakes after the warranty had already expired. Who does that? He did.
Japanese Auto Tech restored my faith in humanity. They’re in North Hollywood.
