This new restaurant is a hidden gem! It’s one of the few Japanese restaurants around the area, and it’s delicious! The food came to our table very fast and the people behind the counter were very nice. For an appetizer, we got the shrimp tempura which is by far the best tempura I’ve ever had. I also got the combo with sushi, noodles, etc. and it was also very good. The mocha ice cream I got was a positively unique flavor and I enjoyed it very much. I would definitely recommend this restaurant because it’s fast, delicious, and the service is great!

I really enjoyed Bento House. The guy behind the counter(possibly owner?) and the lady working the register were both super friendly. Both came to check on us while we were there, and it seemed like it was very genuine. The ramen was great for a quick, easy meal. We also got a California roll. The sushi did it’s job. It was a lot better than grocery store sushi. They also gave us each an egg roll(not sure if this was included with the ramen or if they’re just really nice people). It seemed like most of the people coming in were getting the bento box. I’ll have to try it next time. Overall, I was very pleased with my experience at Bento House. It wasn’t the best ramen or sushi I’ve ever had, but it’s perfect for what it is. A quick, easy meal when you’re short on time.

First, the place is REALLY clean. I was very impressed. When we walked in, we were greeted by the owner who was very friendly. We ordered a Bento box(steak) and sushi. Everything was cooked to order. Food was surprisingly good. I was expecting average food at a fast casual place but the food was definitely solid. I will definitely be returning. Update: been here at least 5 – 6 times since the initial review and it has definitely lived up to my expectations.

Prices are pretty cheap but you get what you pay for. Service is good. Food is only okay. I probably won’t be returning unless I am desperate. I’ve just had better Japanese food elsewhere.

The service is great. Very kind staff. No matter what I say, I still want you to go give these nice people money. The food though is shopping mall food court quality. Sometimes maybe you’re in the mood for that. And if so, go here. If you are looking for a Japanese restaurant, go elsewhere.

I had come across positive reviews for Bento House, so I figured I’d give it a try. As soon as I walked in I was greeted and the man behind the counter was very kind and helpful. He explained the menu options and then checked in with me later to make sure that I was satisfied. I got the shrimp and chicken teriyaki deluxe bento box. It was a lot of food and I was able to take leftovers home with me. It was a very pleasant experience and I will be coming back soon.

We received a friendly greeting upon entering for lunch. After a review of the menu, we found that the Bento offering is for teriyaki with smaller sides. We order chicken teriyaki with sushi rice and veggies. While waiting, we found the ambiance to be like being in some kind of vehicle because the place hums. There were also four large screen tvs on with sports. Looking toward the kitchen I cringed when I saw our food being cooked as I saw the cook squeezing lots of oil from a plastic bottle. The food was served in plastic ware even though we were eating in. Wasteful practice. The teriyaki turned out to be very greasy. The rice was dried out. The veggies were mostly green cabbage with small pieces of broccoli and carrot. These veggies tasted slightly burnt. The egg roll was the worst I have ever had as it was undercooked and doughy. One bite was all I ate. The sushi was tasteless and had tough cucumber skin that was inedible. It was served with wasabi that was discolored and was hard and did not melt into the soy sauce. For the price that we paid we could have had better food at a few other spots in the area. Disappointed that this spot was not a true bento box place in the traditional sense. Food quality is that like you would find from an Asian food place in a mall food court.

So glad that there’s a fast-casual style Japanese place where I live now. I love Chicken Teriyaki and this place makes it well! Prices are quite affordable, about 7 bucks for a «regular» bento, which has rice, vegetables, and chicken teriyaki. They also have a deluxe bento which comes with 6 california rolls or cucumber rolls, and a fried spring roll(which is excellent) for a couple bucks more. The portions are generous and everything tastes great! The customer service is also top-notch(I often call in an order right after working out at Crunch Fitness in Reston Town Center). My only complaint is that I often get a bite or two of chicken in each box that is mostly cartilage and inedible. Not too big of a deal, but I’ve eaten from many other fast-casual style Japanese places where this hardly ever happens(e.g. Sarku, Quickfire, etc.). This won’t stop me from being a regular here!

We had our first try and ordered for pick up. Both kinds of Ramen were delicious and in a nice bowl. I asked if I could add more pork belly, and glad he said yes for additional $ 2. What I wish next time is they will have option for DELIVERY!

Bento house is a fast food Japanese style restaurant. You can dine-in, there are tables but most people carry out. I usually get their teriyaki chicken(comes with steamed veggies) with steamed rice. It’s what you can expect… fast food. It’s good and decent amount of food for the price. Their appetizer takoyaki(fried balls with diced octopus pieces in the middle, with sauce drizzled on top) is decent too. I’ve had better but if you are craving it and don’t know any other place that makes this… Bento house takoyaki isn’t so bad to try. Service is as expected like any fast food restaurant, quick and fast and not much of serving.

The service at this place is A+! You can really tell they genuinely care for their restaurant and well being of their patrons. In regards to the food, yes it may not be something you would find at a 4-star restaurant… but it is meant to be a casual sit down place where you can get good food at good prices. I love the chicken deluxe box! Moral is: If you know the type of restaurant it is meant to be, you will like it! However, if you are looking for super high class japanese food, this is not that type of restaurant. You will have to go to a specialty restaurant and pay a lot more to get that style of food. Keep doing what you are doing Bento House! We are already becoming regulars.

Tucked into the Home Depot parking lot, you will find Bento Box — a fantastic little place! Excellent quality food at a good price. Hubster called it «magnificent» and spawn and I agree. Try the edamame and teriyaki. The owner is gracious and friendly too. This place is a new favorite!

Pretty good food prepared quickly! Inside the restaurant was casual and clean, and service was very friendly. I tried the chicken teriyaki deluxe bento box and the Tontoksu ramen(aka pork belly). The chicken teriyaki was yummy, not quite unique but a classic. The deluxe came with 4 California sushi rolls, mixed vegetables, an eggroll, and rice. A great deal at $ 7.85 and quite filling! The eggroll was ok, a good exterior but lacking in its filling. The sushi was ok as well, similar to grocery store-bought sushi but with more fresh rice. Anyway I don’t expect top-tier sushi at a place like this! The Tonkotsu ramen was decent, not special but could fulfill a craving. The noodles were soft, and there were plenty of spring onions. This is probably personal preference, but I am not a fan of pork belly in brothy dishes, as it tastes too fatty to me. It would been nice if they had other ramen noodle options(the other one is a spicy version of the Tonkotsu). If you’re in the mood for a decent mall-like meal, but as quickly as you can get Chipotle or Five Guys, this is a great local option! I would go for the bento boxes over any of the other dishes(i.e. the ramen). They don’t seem to have a website yet, so I’ve uploaded some photos of the menu.

Sushi was so so, suspicious of sushi in grocery store boxes… probably premade. Octopus balls were awful. Frozen in the middle at first pass, and so flavorless and a chewy piece of octopus in the center again with no flavor. Better off making a shrimp or fish ball. Service seemed almost so overbearing because they knew product was so lacking. I get so annoyed with Japanese places that dumb down everything. Spices are cheap! If you wonder why there are so many more successful Thai and Vietnamese restaurants around(besides sushi based restaurants)…it is because they care about flavor. Fresh herbs, chilis, vegetables with flavor with their proteins!

Looking for a quick bite in the neighborhood we ventured into the recently opened Bento House. On a side note we also had to hit Home Depot so this worked in our favor as they are in the same shopping strip. Knowing ahead of time that this was a quick serve style place. Order, get number they bring to your table if eating in… our expectations weren’t set very high. A clean and open space there were a couple of flat screens on opposite walls. Ahead was the order counter. We immediately sat as we discussed the menu board and the next thing the owner/manager(forgot to ask) hurried over and brought us a menu to review and to let us know if we had questions to please ask. Already family with the menu from Unilocal pictures were did a quick scan and ordered. For tonight we both did deluxe boxes which included a spring roll and 4 pieces of California roll. Hubby also did a combo which gave him a reduced price on his soda. He had beef and I had chicken. We both enjoyed the flavor… I was envious of the onions he had under his beef. I happen to adore onions. Have to see if I can get that added. Hubby commented that he wished they had a upgraded steak option. As he would have preferred a better cut of beef. He liked the taste but he would have payed extra for filet or ribeye. The veggies were a cabbage and broccoli mix which I liked. The California roll was okay… It was the spring roll that was the dude in the plate… More roll than spring it just needs a bit more filling. We also ordered a eel roll and this was a surprising star. Okay not the prettiest presentation but we are doing fast food versus a full fledge sushi bar but the eel had a nice ratio of fat giving it that fabulous richness… So may be interesting to see how the other rolls stack up. I’m thinking the next time if we are doing the bento boxes to stay with the regular and just order a roll on the side if we are also wanting sushi. A couple near us had the spicy ramen and commented how good it was. Enough to make me want to order this the next time. There are some other hidden things on the menu for future tries from kale salad to octopus balls??? Have to check on that. Ohhhh they do have Mochi so ask what flavors they have. I had mango but they also had green tea and red bean. Overall a great addition to the you need food at a great price and you need it relatively fast. Which reminds me… They bring your order out at once. So if you wanted to enjoy your sushi or appetizer items you need to order separately with time in between. Looking forward to exploring the menu! If they keep up the overall quality this will be a keeper in our meal rotation.

So, I kept the other reviews here in mind as I drove down the road to the newly opened Bento House. You all had me thinking this would be a place that means well but just misses the mark. Well, I disagree. I think this place is pretty neat. Fun fact: As I write this, I’m eating leftovers from the chicken teriyaki I ordered for dinner last night. As at least one or two other reviews mentioned, this place, for the price, is a wonderful deal. I got the chicken teriyaki deluxe bento box, which aside from the teriyaki included four pieces of a California roll, a cabbage and broccoli salad, and a spring roll. The California roll is better than I was expecting it to be. The spring roll was a bit bland and unexpected for a Japanese takeout place, but hey. This all came out to $ 7.95. Well, hot damn. That’s pretty great for a quick dinner. Other comments mentioned that the quality of food isn’t much better than what you might find in a mall somewhere. I doubt the intention of Bento House is to be an upscale, top dollar restaurant; instead, I think they’re shooting for something else. They’re located in the Home Depot shopping center. Think about it. You know what sucks? Having to drop by Home Depot after work, when you’re already tired, to pick up a door knob or a set of precision screwdrivers that you then have to take home and deal with while the dog is barking and all you want to do is sleep. Think you’ll want to worry about dinner on top of that? I wouldn’t. Good thing Bento House is right there so I can swing by and pick up some teriyaki and make my night a little more bearable. Anyway, I only tried the teriyaki. I think that’s where this place will shine. To the owner: I’d recommend putting soy sauce on the tables for people to use with their sushi or even on their salad. Lastly, on the topic of the owner, the man is extremely kind. Like, it’s contagious. I walked in and was greeted by him and then I felt this big goofy grin on my face. He was so excited to have a new customer try their food. There’s a lot of crappy service out there, so it’s really nice every once in a while to have someone who cares so much. This man has my thumbs up. Go and try it for yourself, but keep in mind what this place is intending to be. I get a kick out of people who go to a place like this and expect it to be Momofuku. It’s cheap, it’s really tasty, the chicken was really tender, I have no real complaints. That’s that.

Came here on the first day of opening. This is a great place if you are looking for something quick to eat but dont want to burn your wallet. The dollar sign should for this type of place should be just one and not two because everything here is under $ 10. More like $ 7 – 9 depending on what you order rather than the $ 11 – 30 that is stated. I usually order the chicken teriyaki but for the first time tried the steak and it is amazing! highly recommend both. The owner here is really nice. Had some small talk with him and he said he is in the process of trying to get licensed to sell beer which I think will be a nice touch. For the people complaining about not getting enough wasabi or condiments or had issues. I am sure that if you brought it to their attention they would more happy to accommodate. I have certain dietary restrictions and they always made my request without even charging me a dime.

This place just opened over the labor day weekend and I am glad it did! If you want a quick bite to eat without sacrificing fresh ingredients and fish, this is the place to go. The service is extremely friendly and accomodating. The owner really cares about your experience and takes pride in making tasty food with each plate. Not to mention it is high quality for a fair price. We ordered the shrimp and chicken bento box as well as the dragon roll. I made the bento box a deluxe which includes a four piece california roll and a spring roll on the side. It was a nice touch to the chicken, shrimp, vegetables and rice. I normally order steamed rice because I am afraid the fried rice would be too salty as a base for the rest of the food. However, this time I took a shot in the dark and ordered the fried rice instead. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the fried rice was perfectly seasoned and did not take away from the flavor of the rest of the food. I love sushi and have eaten at many authentic Japanese restaurants, and I must say the dragon roll was not a far cry from these other sushi staples. It had fresh fish and avocado and the rice was sticky and delicious. I am definitely coming back here to fill my sushi cravings and for a satisfying bento box. I wish I worked close by so I could come for lunch breaks. If you work in Reston, this would be a great place to go for speedy quality food.

An upscale fast food restaurant. Think the difference between taco bell and Chipotle. I enjoyed myself and will be back. Ingredients were fresh. Everything, including sushi was made to order. I got the chicken teriyaki bento box. Wow. So much food, unbelievable price. Nice diverse selection. Chicken teriyaki was ok. Better than straight fast food and definitely better than premade, been sitting under a hot lamp mall or drive thru food. However there were some of those little connective tissue bits that are really hard to get out when one is cutting up their own meat. So nice they seem to be doing that themselves, but finding three to pick out means a bit more attention needs to be paid to that. The four pieces of sushi(missing from my photo because I was excited to eat them) were ok. Rice a bit loose, but tasty and ingredients good. Wish I had a bit more Wasabi and ginger but I’m pretty sure I use sushi as a serving platter to consume Wasabi and ginger. The vegetables were fantastic, perfectly cooked, seasoned and a great portion to make me feel I was being a bit healthy. You can get noodles instead of veggies. Rice choices are either white or fried. Fried rice also had veggies. Overall I really enjoyed myself. It was awesome to have done Asian food and not feel overly salted after the meal. The restaurant isn’t sit down restaurant nice, but is that nice in between. Better quality than mere fast food, faster and better price than sitdown. Staff was fantastically nice. I think I found my new reston lunch place.

Only tried the chicken teriyaki and spicy tuna roll, but they were both delicious!(And the teriyaki box with 2 sides is only $ 6.65)! The rest of the menu looked appetizing and very fairly priced. I will be back!
