Great drive-in food. Fresh and hot pork burgers and fries. Hand dipped ice cream was very good, chocolate milkshake was fine but not spectacular. Served fast and an excellent value.

I have never been treated as rudely as I was at my last visit. I believe it was the owners daughter. I sent a written order up with my son because I was in car with my new born. They got the order wrong but I didn’t think it was a big deal. I went up to the window to have them correct the mistake. She told me the mistake was my fault and my seven yr olds fault. I told her not to worry about it if it was that big of a deal. I got home and called. I didn’t want to cause a scene there. She said she didn’t want to correct my order cuz then she would have to correct everyone else’s that were wrong too and then they would be losing money. After a few minutes of listening to her be rude and place blame I got off phone with her. I will not be back! Many of my friends have also had bad experiences there with her as well… this may be why small local businesses go out of business! She was probably the rudest and most unprofessional unaccommodating person I have ran into as far as businesses!!! Sad thing is that we live within walking distance and my son loved the place. Now we will be driving to sycamore. They are always friendly there.(The only reason I gave it a star is because it made me choose one. I didn’t want to put any)!

One of Summer guilty pleasures, the Frost Freeze in Reynolds, Indiana, is a must-stop any time I’m driving through. Located at the corner of SR43(231?) and SR24, this place has a huge variety drive-in food and ice cream treats. Their hamburgers and pork burgers are good and they have pizza burger, too! They serve up hot dogs five ways, and have eight flavors of slushie! Wow! A watermelon slushie sounds pretty good about now. They have both soft serve and hard pack. I’m a sucker for their walnut hard pack on a regular cone. They have a featured flavor of the day which is sometimes hung on a sign on the front of the building. A couple years ago when I was an ice cream psychic, I was doing pretty good guessing the flavor of the day for a while. Lately though I seem to have lost my touch. When I stopped earlier this week, I noticed a new item in the window — deep fried dill pickles! I think I will stick to a scoop of black walnut hard pack and leave this treat to someone more adventurous. Wonderful road food institution has remained pretty much unchanged since the 1970’s and probably farther back than that. Providing great summer jobs for high school kids(don’t forget to leave a nice tip) the Frosty Freeze is a great bit of nostalgia for the small town ice cream stand and a way of life that is vanishing. Take this opportunity to time travel next time you’re driving through or are in range for a little side trip to Reynolds!

Great little place located centrally in the small town. My family used to take me to this little icecream and food shop when I was little and we still go to this day.(makes my mouth water just to think about it) Has both soft-serve and hand-dipped icecream, shakes, fountain drinks, such food items like fried cheese-balls, french fries and the like. One of my favorite things about this location is that they have these special weekly flavors of ice-cream that they post on the façade of their building using little wooden signs so that you can see them from the road –they have been doing that since I was little and it is nice to see them still doing so –tradition is nice. Also has great homemade dilly bars. I really enjoy the blackberry soft-serve ice cream with sprinkles and nuts –which they add on for free. I also enjoy how you can get a baby cone –just enough ice-cream to get your fix, but not too much to go to the hips. :) I also love how they have been and probably always will be staffed by locals. Usually it is someone who my familly or I know –which is nice. You may pass by this location if you are driving from Indy on the way to Chicago. So keep your eyes open.
