I have been deciding between 1 and 2 stars for a little bit now. I decided to write the review as an objective view to what I experienced. One day a few weeks ago, I took my son(who will be attending pre-school in August) there to view the place one day after work so that I could discuss options of school pick-up with my husband. This was against my better judgment as I saw terrible reviews almost everywhere, even about the behavioral issues teachers encounter. My son has never been in a childcare center so this would be very different for us. Carol, the director is a very nice woman. She genuinely cares for the children, that much is clear. The facilities are overall clean and the staff is undoubtedly very competent on paper. Children will be children, but I did not see anything out of the ordinary; other than a child being randomly stung by a bee. During that visit, I was there about 1.5 hours. I did come during a busy time so that was fine with me. My son seemed comfortable there, so that was a relief. Once we were able to talk and tour, I made it abundantly clear that my son would be a preschooler, we spoke about preschool transportation to the facility, curriculum and of course, cost. I was advised $ 70 a week. Now, I thought that sounded a bit low but, since I’d never really dealt with these types of centers, I wasn’t sure to question it. She mentioned other programs for lower income families and residents of Columbus city of which we are neither according to the charts and zip code, so we both knew I was private pay. I left with the information and spoke with my husband who advised me to fill out the paperwork. We were still trying to work with RCS to bus him to his current providers business so we wanted options. I scanned and emailed the forms and sent a request to have his immunization documents sent. By the next day all was there so I went to fill out the agreement. I saw on the website and as well as craigslist that there was an enrollment special. I asked about that and the individual I was speaking with asked a Bonnie about it who then said it would be $ 75. Well that surely isn’t the special that is proposed online. It notes ‘free’ registration; but I let that slide. So then the individual with whom I was speaking with asked if I would be Title 20 or private pay. I advised that we are paying the maximum amount for PUBLIC preschool at $ 100 a month and do not qualify for free breakfast or lunch so I assume we would not qualify for any Title 20 benefits, although I had already had this conversation. She then went to this Bonnie again and came back to tell me that it would be $ 170 a week. Now that, I cannot allow to slide as I currently pay $ 55 less a week for the same services sans a pick up. The school is less than a mile away. I noted that I was advised it would be $ 70 a week and I am quite sure that my ears were working as I would not have even discussed that matter with my husband at that cost. Just because we don’t qualify for anything free doesn’t mean we need to have our pockets raped like we are Richy Rich. So, the person says«Oh, she thought he was going to kindergarten». I said«huh… how is that even remotely true when 1) I said it more than 3 times that he was going to be in preschool, 2) my son was there looking like the THREEYEAR old he is, 3) I was shown the preschool classroom and met the teacher and 4) the packet had a „4 year old curriculum“ leaflet attached and 5) we discussed what school and his preschool timeslot he was in». I was actually upset because I am not sure if it was the fact that she went to tell this Bonnie that I was not Title 20 or what but you simply cannot just slip $ 100 into the cost like no one will actually notice! Someone called me back after 2 days and I called back and left 2 messages with someone for Bonnie but she was always ‘with a parent”. I initially told Carol that I was so willing to give this facility a try despite the reviews because anyone can write a review… and I didn’t experience it while I was there but I think it unfair to switch up costs as if individuals are not smart enough to catch on. Please be advised that Carol was not involved in this portion of the transaction… but although it will be extremely difficult for me to deal with the alternative option of driving from work to take him to his current provider, I am surely going to do that if RCS cannot accommodate the alternative in district bus arrangements. If you are Title 20, I guess this is the place for you… if you are private pay I wonder what your rate will be when originally told and then when its time to sign some papers. I’d rather not go back and forth about the matter. I wanted it to work but it didn’t.
