Save-A-Lot

The worst store ever. The produce was old things were not where they needed to be I can live with the second one but when I go to check out everything is going good until the cashier asked if I want my stuff bagged I’m yes please, ok sir that’s going to be .11 cents per bag I’ve got to use I’m like what your charging me for the bags yes sir you can keep them.

I’ve never been a fan of Save-​A-​Lot, mostly because the fruits and veggies are rarely fresh, I mean, they’re okay if you’re going to be eating it all that day, but don’t expect to buy them from here and have them last in your fridge for a few days. Anyway, I’ll give it 3 stars because it’s close to my house and they usually offer some pretty good coupons for free items in their weekly sales ad. I come here when I don’t feel like making a run to Kroger, Giant Eagle or anywhere that’ll take me longer than 5 minutes to get there.
The store associates are friendly and it helps that the store is right next to Big Lots, which is another store I freaking love! It’s a new store so it’s still clean and it’s never busy so you can always get in and get out.

They advertise great prices, especially on meat, but when you go there, they don’t have the items. Since it’s a new store to our area, I thought I would give them a try. I went 4 different times to buy the steak and chicken breasts they had in their ad. They had none. When I asked about it, I was told that I wasn’t the only one who liked steaks and I had to come when the meat cutter (who leaves at 3:00) was there. Since it was 2:30 that excuse made no sense. I also was very surprised at the cashier’s attitude and the total lack of customer service. The bottom line is they have a limited selection of other grocery items and national brands. If you aren’t fussy about brands, they carry the basics, but, overall, their prices aren’t competitive with Aldis and Aldis certainly offers friendlier and better customer service. I don’t like stores that advertise good deals and then just don’t have the items in stock. I can’t see how this store is going to last very long competing with Walmart and Aldis for budget conscious buyers.
I want to update this review. Since the last time I was there, they have made real strides in customer service and keeping things in stock. Much improved!
