This place was a disappointment. The exterior of the house is beautiful along with the view of the Hudson River. To get inside the house, it costs $ 10 per adult and you can only see the ground floor. You cannot go upstairs and you cannot see the view from the tower. On top of that, if you ask about going upstairs, the tour guide will boast about how she is allowed upstairs but not the paying customer. The ground floor has 5 small rooms total with one tour guide in each room and takes about a whopping 20 minutes to see if you stop and listen to each guide. The guides do not have much to say. There are no pictures allowed inside. There is a 7 minute video of Margaret Suckley talking a little bit about the house and you can have free cookies and hot apple cider while you watch it.

I like old houses and this one has some nice features. The view of the Hudson is quite nice. The entry fee is a bit steep, at $ 10 per adult and $ 9 for kids. There is no tour of the turret or the upper floors. That was a let down. The tour is about an hour.

I don’t want to get the cat out of the bag but… My(now) husband and I were married at the Wilderstein last month and what an amazing experience! The grounds are beautiful, the art exhibit added character and fall in the Hudson Valley cannot be beat. Thank you Chelsea for going above and beyond to make sure everything went smooth! I would recommend a wedding here a thousand times over — Job well done!

Another one of the million mansions in the Hudson Valley, and I use the word ‘mansion’ loosely here. Only go to this one if you’re really into seeing old houses because, well, it isn’t that impressive. It could be anybody’s grandma’s old house. The grounds are nice, there’s some trails you can walk, and the exterior of the house makes a nice photograph, but the inside is nothing special. They don’t even let you go up into the tower. So plan to walk the grounds, but don’t pay for the tour.
