Are here twice for dinner. Steak one night and prime rib the other. Both meals were very good. I would recommend this place over the others down the road.

The best brunch I have had in a long time. The country fried steaks and eggs is amazing.

Nice atmosphere. I ordered the gyro with fries and it was perfect! My honey had the country fried steak. It came with mashed potatoes, green beans with bacon, and bread on the side. He was very impressed, being a chef himself. I would recommend this place to anyone and we would definitely come back! Oh, for drinks we got lemonade and even it was great! Not one complaint here. Thank you Guys!

Excellent halibut fish and chips! I had mashed potatoes, husband had fries and the mashed potatoes actually even had the skins on them and were very tasty! I’m impressed they bothered to run the gas fireplace where a lot of the restaurants don’t. Nice fire waiting for us on a cold day! Good service!

Pretty decent. The food is good and priced well. The building used to be a old whore house. They do not have tours of the whores rooms. I was disappointed.

Five star for the drinks and three for the food and four for the atmosphere. So it averages around 3.3 really but if you want to do a fish and chips and a relaxed vibe and maybe a bar drink — not the wine — it’s a good deal. The rest of the menu is average but I had a great well bourbon drink and a burger — no complaints. The Fish n chips got the best reviews. Wine choices a bit overpriced and small servings. Wait staff a little on the distracted side but friendly. Video games here. FYI

Awesome visit and lunch at Barlow Trail Roadhouse restaurant! My little family and I enjoyed the ribs(smoked on the premises), fish and chips, chicken nuggets(ordered by our little one), and fried peach pie. We loved it! Atmosphere was cozy and the employees were all very friendly and helpful. Food was very tasty and would definitely return — even if it means an hour drive from Portland. The fried pie with ice cream was out of this world! You have to experience it to believe it! Hot out of the fryer and perfectly matched with vanilla ice cream! Mmm! On a cold rainy day like the weather we experienced up there yesterday, it was the perfect stop for lunch. Highly recommended! Lots of comfort good options there!

It’s a cool place in the mountain. Felt like I was in a mountain log cabin. The service was excellent and the food was good. We had a fried chicken & fish/chips. The ingredients were fresh and tasted good. After a cold day of skiing, it’s a great place to be.

I haven’t been here in over 20 years, and decided to stop in for breakfast. The biscuits & gravy were wonderful and my scrambled egg was perfect. Unless you have the appetite of a lumberjack, however, the half order will fill you up just fine. My server, Kayla, was cheerful and attentive. I’ll be back the next time I’m on the mountain.

Very nice people and good comfort food that absolutely hits the spot after a long day of hiking! I recommend the Fish & Chips. The halibut pieces are a little small, so get the 3-piece meal. But the fish is high quality and the breaking was crisp and not overpowering. Nice job overall.

We stopped in here after a long hike, we got there about an hour before they were set to close. I ordered the daily special(chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes) and my husband got the 2 piece halibut and fries. Although my meal was worth the $ 5, my husbands was definitely not worth the $ 14. His fish were about 1.5−2 inches long and the plate was filled with fries which were not very good. The servers were too busy trying to close the place down to focus on the service. I hope that our experience was a rarity and only due to it being Monday night. But we probably won’t be back.

What a disappointment. Saw good reviews and was hoping for decent food. We came for dinner had the Prime Rib special and the French Onion soup. Although the Prime Rib was perfectly adequate, the soup and the sides were pretty bad. The mashed potatoes were just that; Cooked potatoes that were simply mashed, with no trace of butter or milk to make them creamy. The green beans were overlooked canned green beans. The French onion soup had what could best could be described as salad croutons with some nondescript white cheese thrown on top. One of our party did have a baked potato, which seemed to be fine. This may be a better place for breakfast, but my experience was enough to keep me from coming back.

I have eaten here several times on returning from hiking and snowshoeing. The food is dependably good, with breakfast served till 2pm. I love their mountain cakes with strawberries and whipped cream! Heavenly! Sit on the front deck, watch the traffic going by, and enjoy the mountain air!

Good, hearty food. Super nice people. Very reasonable prices. A cozy mountain lodge atmosphere. This was exactly what we were hoping for. We were staying at the Resort at the Mountain just down the road. The resort only had one breakfast restaurant(Mallard) and it was loaded with bad reviews. The Barlow was just 2 or 3 minutes away by car. We only did breakfast for two days, but I would be very interested to try dinner here too. The country gravy was just right, not bland but not too rich either. The coffee was very nice and bright, very drinkable black. The Bloody Mary was a nice mix of tomato and spicy with a touch of salt, maybe a little weak on the alcohol, but it is breakfast, so that is ok by me. So whether you are just passing through on highway 26 or staying nearby, I would recommend you stop in this place and give it a try. You won’t get anything too fancy, but you will get a good meal at a fair price and wait staff that are smiling and friendly, and make you really believe they are glad you came.

My husband and I are staying at a cabin near by, and based on the other Unilocal reviews we decided to come have Dinner! YUM!!! I got the fried chicken dinner and my husband got the Halibut fish and chips. Both were amazing! Not greasy, fresh and absolutely delish! The homemade beef lentil soup was out of this world! Not only was the food amazing, but our waitress Ali was as sweet as they come! She was attentive, friendly, sweet and very welcoming! She made us feel like family and we just adored her! They would be smart to keep this girl around forever! The ambiance was great! Rustic, clean and we sat by the warm fireplace and watched the snow! This is a must go if you are in the mood for home cooking, friendly service and great prices!!!

5 stars for nailing what they set out to do. This is not fine dining, nor do they claim to be. What they do serve is classic American comfort food, cooked to perfection. The cook is a fry-master, and made the best fried chicken I’ve had outside of the South. Same goes for their fish and chips! A lot of offerings are made in house: batters, sauces, dressings, etc… and they are all delicious. The log cabin design is perfect for the woods of the PNW, and the staff is friendly. We had a great dinner here last Friday night, after getting lazy and not wanting to cook at our campsite. For $ 10.99 I got ½ of a fried chicken, veggies, baked potato, salad, and garlic bread… for $ 10.99! Partner got the fish and chips for $ 13.99– 2 pieces of Alaskan halibut, battered and breaded in house and fried perfectly. Breakfast on Sunday morning was just as good. My omelet was cooked just right, as were the hashbrowns, and my partner’s breakfast burrito had an excellent ranchera sauce on it. So good! Stop by when you’re in the area. You won’t be disappointed! P. S., the lounge has some great local color, and there are some characters hanging out there getting their sip on.

During our stay in the Mt. Hood area the hubby and I were starving so we stopped at the Barlow Trail Roadhouse. I has a very Country Bear Jamboree feel(remember Disneyland?) We ordered the steak(medium) & eggs(over medium), country fried steak, blueberry pancakes and peach pie, oh and coffee need that daily dose of crack to make it through the day. coffee: good, hot but not scorching, no after taste…1 thumb up steak and eggs: a bit chewy and slightly dry but with same A1 it’s all good. Eggs perfect no runny parts… hate runny sliminess…½ thumb up country fried steak: really good, not overly battered or salted…2 thumbs up blueberry pancakes: good, our average pancake…½ thumb up peach pie: they use canned peaches no thumbs up, the crust oh so good, if I could have order the crust by itself I would have, so the crust gets 2 thumbs up. Service excellent 4 thumbs up. Feel and appeal 2.5 thumbs up. Overall experience 4 thumbs up.
