My first time coming here was New Year’s Eve. I needed a portfolio for my modeling work and was recommended to come to this location. I had never heard of it before and I literally drove past it each day for work. When I went it was needless to say one of the best places to find all of your arts and crafts supplies. They were running a special with 20% off of all sticker prices which made everything comfortable affordable. The two store clerks were extremely nice and knowledgable about their products. I was given the option of a leather portfolio or a simple hard cover portfolio with equal page numbers. I not only purchased the portfolio but networked as well. They had everything from paint brushes, paint, easels, decorative frames, various shades of colors and conte as well. If you need any art supplies this is definitely the place to go to.

My only issue is when we got to the register to pay we showed the cashier this check-in promotion… we were told they don’t take coupons. Ok. So why have this check-in promotion if you can’t/aren’t/won’t honor it? I’m not mad but just confused. Bummed. Overall the place was cool and the employees were really nice. They checked on me and my friend. Wasn’t all uppity like a few other art supply stores I’ve been to. Although i didn’t get to use the check-in promotion the prices were still good.

Ihave had an excellent experience here. I’ve been going to asel for years, and ever since this new manager has been there I’ve noticed increased cleanliness, better customer service, and I just love coming there now. They’ve always had excellent prices and merchandise, but now they have a staff that perfectly matches. Definitely recommend!

I came into the store to check it out… a little worried about the previous reviews I had read about lack of customer service etc… That was not the case for me and my experience. I found the clerk helpful, pointed me in the direction I needed, and attentive without being overbearing. I was also delighted to learn that when I checked in on Unilocal they had a discount that popped up for a discount on a particular canvas, however it was not the canvas I wanted, but it is nice when retailers offer such things.

Summary: Worst customer service experience in any retail store, ever. Not to mention prices are higher than competitors. We tried to return 2 items that cost less than $ 25, paid with check. The employee refused to return cash, and with a very rude attitude, proceeded to tell us we could recieve a check in the mail, possibly a month later?! As a corporate policy, this is not good business. But, the horrible attitude of the sales clerk was the real issue. When we asked him to call a manager, he refused! Ridiculous. We had to find a manager’s number on our own and call. Although the manager was somewhat apologetic for the sales clerk’s behavior, there wasn’t any offer to remedy the situation, just that they would«talk to» the employee. Did I mention the other sales clerk standing behind the counter was giving us dirty looks during this whole interaction. My goodness! My Advice: Shop somewhere else. This place does not appreciate long-time customers, and instead acts as if we’re all idiots for spending our money there, which if we were to go back, we just might be.

I won’t shop here again, ever! My husband and I stopped in after we visited a near by establishment. First thing walking in I smile and say hello, the teenaged boy behind the desk mumbles something that I would assume was hello back. Okay, so I’m big on customer service. It was very obvious this place is family run, which I love, however, as a fellow business owner, I feel like first impressions are important. They are to me anyway. I love art supplies. I’m not an artist, but I do like to paint and would like to get into some other artsy things like encaustic arts. I didn’t see any of that stuff. The store was unkempt(being nice here), and most everything was unorganized, and only about 1⁄3 of the products were marked. The older gentleman eventually got off the phone and asked if we needed help, from behind his junk piled desk. No eye contact. I’m pretty sure he was not in the least bit interested in helping so I declined. We did take the time to look at everything, but seriously, it was outdated or unorganized. No encaustic art supplies. I just should probably do some more research on where to find a non chain local art supply store as this one was a bummer.
