The House of Poets seems like a great venue. Went there last nite and saw a lovely belly dance show with lots of talent. EXCEPT for the host/MC who started to curse. She admittedly said that she loved to curse and did so like a sailor. Hmmmm. It turned a lovely nite sour. Disappointed. Obviously not a reflection of the venue.

It is no longer a venue point but a rather large and fantastic antique shop. They have tons of books, records and odd and ends throughout the whole place. The co-owner and her husband, Victoria and Nick, were so nice and helpful! My bf and I were the only ones in there on Saturday and spent almost two hours browsing and walked away with several awesome finds! Victoria was friendly and took the time to look around for certain books for me. We are definitely coming back to explore more since they have thousands of books still in inventory and more items coming in every week!

I’m a big fan of House of Poets. It’s a beautiful venue with a friendly staff. The interior is plush and comfortable. On Monday nights there is a really great event presented by Creative Motion’s Circus Freaks called Open Stage. It’s a great little exhibition of talent, passion, and creativity. It’s like Vaudeville reincarnated into something lively, playful and thoroughly engaging.

The House of Poets is the third piece in Nasif’s empire in the Camelot Shopping Center, next door to the Peace Pipe Hookah Lounge. There is a small stage with dance floor in front, plenty of movable tables & chairs, and a seating area made up of couches and oversized arm chairs. During the Open Stage event hosted there on Monday nights, Olive delivers orders phoned over by the staff. No smoking inside, but you can always step outside, or next door if the weather is bad.
