UNCARING VERRRRY SLOOOOWWWW ER STAFF at this boutique hospital let patients writhe in pain while they do nothing. They do not move with any urgency here, and they lack compassion too.
My friend came with a kidney stone was was in extreme pain, crying and moaning loudly. We for more compassion from family members in the the lobby than from staff. My friend had to take her own pain medication after 25 minutes in the lobby because staff would not take her back. Medical City Dallas ER wait times in our experience — 8 minutes or less. Just sayin’.
Once taken back, the staff told my friend several times to settle down and not to be so loud. Here’s a free tip from me: IF YOU RELIEVE THEIR EXTREME PAIN, PEOPLE STOP WRITHING AND VOCALIZING
Two staff members told my friend to quiet down at different times: the charge nurse on duty told her to be quiet when he was starting the saline IV, and later the guy who took her to the CT scan told her to stop moaning loudly. My friend and I were telling them her pain was at 10, but did that light a fire under either of them to help her? NO
She got a first small dose of pain meds after 45 minutes, which reduced her pain from 10 to an 8. I had to go hunt down the nurse to get more meds for her. She got those after another 30 minutes. News flash: 30 minutes is an ETERNITY when pain is severe.
The 2^nd dose of meds dropped her pain to 6 — still too high but she was not writhing anymore. We called the nurse AGAIN to try and get her pain controlled. We’re not looking to be pain free here (not with a kidney stone) but manageable pain level of 3 is not too much to ask!
The ER was not apparently busy, but I didn’t see a lot of staff either. Her nurse who gave the 2^nd dose of meds did say he was late getting to her, but no one in pain should be told to be quiet, close her door and stop moaning so loudly while they wait for staff to get around to treating them.
UPDATE 18 Jan — As requested in a curt and unapologetic canned comment on my Unilocal Review by Chris P. of this hospital, I have submitted my review to the patient rep. I will update with their response, but IT WON’T CHANGE THE TERRIBLE CARE THEY ARE GETTING KNOWN FOR HERE.

Day one: ER took forever to run tests on my mom. We got there at 11 and it took till 5:30 am to be placed in a room. Nurse 1 after admitting entered medicine information wrong. Day 2: went a lot better with a great Cardiologist Momant I think. They released my mom and she had another mild heart attack at 7 am the next morning. Came back and emergency room was efficient for the first hour. After that nothing was given to my mom to bring her bp until she was admitted again. We were told we would see a Neurologist and Cardiologist which we never saw all day. We were told she would get more labs and she only got one at ER. Her MRI was scheduled at 8 am but they did not come get her till 6:35pm. After MRI no one bothered to hook her back up to her heart monitor even though she is in risk of heart attack. We are currently waiting for their «hourly rounds» that only seem to happen when we call them. The last time vitals were checked was at 4 pm. It is now 8:15. I will definitely go elsewhere now for me and all my family. A neurologist finally came in the middle of my review and was more very helpful, it just took too long to see a doctor.
UPDATE *****1/​14/​16 My mother went in for the second time on January 8^th because we can’t seem to get answers. Today she had an appt with Cardiologist and Methodist did not have results ready from Dec 18-​Jan 10^th. Our mother is having a series of strokes and cardiologist is not getting reports in time after requesting for two weeks and faxing them 4 times. We cannot get answers or solutions because they sent inaccurate reports that are incomplete. Our mother could lose her life and they are taking their sweet time, even after calling them several times and requesting test results. We also had same MRI with a two opposite results. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE IF YOU LOVE YOUR FAMILY!!!

I still believe my husband would not have died in the hospital (Methodist Richardson on Campbell Rd), if they had taken his complications of diabetes more seriously and not waited 2 – 3 days before moving him to I.C.U. where ultimately he died (he was only 55). The doctor kept minimizing the situation instead of administering immediate life-​saving treatment. My nephew has now been admitted to Methodist on Renner Rd. & it looks like this hospital is getting poor reviews also. I now wish the paramedics would have taken him to Presbyterian Dallas where there is always EXCELLENT CARE.

The psychiatric unit here is horrible. Avoid at all costs… Not that a lot of people have a choice about where they get sent, but if you do, DO NOT go to this unit. They don’t understand or know how to treat psychiatric illness. They have very poor training in how to manage patients. I had a horrible experience here that I won’t go into detail about… the take away, though, from my experience was that the treatment teams are really not there to manage SICK or very ILL patients. They want easy, quiet, mildly depressed patients that are easy to treat and no trouble. If you are really sick and really need «complex» treatment, they don’t want to have to deal with this and they’ll try to find a way to discharge or transfer you as soon as possible, which is no help whatsoever. They want to be able to run and earn the money of a psych unit but pick and choose the «types» of patients they get so they have minimal trouble or work to do. I would never go there for help again even if I really needed it.

We visited the ER during the evening for an accident. The doctor was just okay. We’ll try to avoid this ER because there are definitely better ones out there. My real complaint has to do with the billing department. This billing department needs work. I realize this is a corporate problem but the last thing I need to worry about after a hospital stay is fighting to get an itemized list of charges. I can’t believe you won’t send that to your patients and you ONLY send it to insurance companies. Perhaps I’ve been fortunate in the past with other hospitals meeting my request without any problems. Or perhaps this is a common practice among private hospitals. It doesn’t really matter. This is a bad practice. You should be absolutely transparent with all patient charges. What are you hiding?

I have so much to say about this facility.
Emergency Room: The ER doctor initially said my son needed surgery for his illness, then admitted that antibiotics would probably resolve the issue (after I asked about it). My son was moved to a room in the medical center.
Medical Center: Once there, I found out they scheduled my son for surgery the next morning. I was surprised by this and said that I wanted to let the antibiotics kick in and get a re-​evaluation before any surgery. The next day, there was no re-​evaluation. They assigned him a surgeon, however I requested that the medical center use a surgeon that was recommended to me by a friend of mine who is a doctor. That surgeon came in and said IT WAS NOT WHAT ER SAID IT WAS, AND THAT NO SURGERY WAS NEEDED. This happened about 30 minutes before the medical center was going to wheel my son into surgery.
Staff: the ER doctor was cocky and dramatic by saying surgery was the first solution to my son’s problem. At times it seemed like the medical center personnel was short-​staffed. Not sure if that was a fluke thing or not. I will say that overall, the nurses seemed very competent, friendly and accommodating, and that is the only reason I am giving it 2 vs. 1 star.

I wouldn’t wish a hospital stay on anyone but if you had to get laid up for a few days, I had the best room and nursing staff you could ask for in a hospital. ER sent me home on Tuesday, had to come back Friday when they decided to admit me.
Once they took me seriously I got great care on the 27X unit. I’m gonna give the facility a four because of the ER not picking up on how sick I was and for the fact that I repeatedly saw doctors not taking or returning calls from nurses over the course of several days.
The 27X unit deserves a 5. But I need to say this: Y’all have great compassionate hardworking clinical staff and a great facility but apparently need to doctor up.

Medical staff for my mother has been to notch. The hospital is only a year old and the surgeons, internists, most nurses and pulmonary physicians know their stuff. I have full confidence in the medical care here and have been proved time and time again these past few months that this hospital has the patient’s best interest in mind.

Had an unfortunate need to visit their ER early Sunday morning on 3÷22÷15. Check in was speedy and within short order, I had a nurse and orderly getting all my info. Everything fired like clockwork. They got their bio-​samples and lab results quickly and the CT scan people were awesome as well.
Overall, they were quick, helpful and showed concern.
I am at a loss. I’m funnier when people or places suck. Well played Methodist Richardson Medical Center ER team… well played.

Though the care is goid, the level of incomparable when it comes to discharging is mind boggling. If this had only happened once, I wouldn’t have thought much about it, however we have had the unfortunate pleasure of being there 3 times in the last 2 months. All three times we have experienced the same inept staff and citcimstances, to the point I’m convinced it us part of their business practice to force patients to stay and extra day so they can over charge the patients and insurance, as the current exsmpke, by wife was discharged yesterday around 2:30 pm, and yet she is currently still there, as the facility had failed to do all the paper work and order the necessary items needed for her to go homr, as part of t he example last night, she couldn’t leave because KCI was closed and they had to send a piece of equipment, while the nurse proceeded to tell us they were closed, my wife was on the phone with them… they are a ²⁴⁄₇ facility and again more than 30 hours after discharge she has still not been allowed to leave… I only rated 1 star, as it want allow be to mark it zero… stay away

My doctor is Dr. Winkler. Great doctor very personable. Ask like he really cares and it shows. Been going now for five years. Have referred many of my friends and family as well. Love Dr. Winkler.

Night shift ER – AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
I came doubled over with abdominal pain. My friend had to run in and grab a wheelchair and wheel me back in. Then about 5 minutes of terrible pain some nurse appeared and all she had to say was” fill this paperwork out.“
It took me a couple of minutes to fill it out due to my pain and taking time between pain bouts to write my name and birthday. All the time the nurse looked extremely agitated I took so long.
She then wheeled me back after a couple of minutes of me crying due to the pain. I guess she tried to slap a blood pressure cuff on my arm but I couldn’t straighten it completely because I was using it to grasp my abdomen. .She became really angry and said that if I wasn’t going to cooperate I would just have to wait and she began doing paperwork. I asked for her to give me a second until the pain died down and told her I wasn’t «not cooperating.» I was simply in excruciating pain and could not stop grasping my abdomen that second.
Well the pain increased and disoriented I walked over to a wall and leaned against it. I could not move any further and I doubled over. The nurse came to me and yelled she was calling the police. A cop did show up and said that he had four fingers cut and a back injury and that I shouldn’t be showing my pain so bad. They clearly are hateful people and I wish I could have physically left but I could barely walk so I had to stay.
The nurse said to the cop, «I’ve got two.» Meaning that she had two people in the ER who were making crying sounds due to pain and she needed it to stop. (Another woman had come up to the window with blood bleeding through her shirt and the nurse just told her she was busy and then called the police on her too.)
Luckily, I am ok and I was not arrested for doubling over in pain while leaning on the ER door. But I am sure the lovely ER nurse is not so happy to hear that.
If you want to be treated terribly and have the police called on you while you are experiencing the worst pain of your life… go to Methodist on George Bush and Renner.
If you want the ER nurse to complete some paperwork while you are doubled over in pain. go to Methodist on George Bush.
If you want medical help or lifesaving treatment… Do not go to Methodist ER.
Methodist ER – where all patients get a free ride with the Dallas PD.

Overall, my stay here for three days while recovering from a sinus infection was pleasant. The dietary staff catered to my vegetarian diet, although most of the time I didn’t care for the food options. The staff is very friendly and professional, minus one mishap on my first night when a nurse neglected me and used ill-​manners. She failed to adhere to infection control standards. The ER transition went smoothly, and my surgeon was amazing! The staff here is friendly and wants you to get better. I spent my birthday here and was kind enough to be delivered «vegan» cheesecake from the dietary staff, and plenty of warm wishes.

I will definetly not go here again. Staff appeared friendly but actually helping my child not really. The doctor really did not explain what was wrong with my child. I had to read the paper work to find out. The culture test taken on my child the results were given to me 2 days later positive for strep throat. I also noticed they neglected to tell me that there was a blockage in his ear… really he is a child. Clearly did not care.

We were there at ER for one night, was not a good experience. The room was unclean, there were stains in the rest room, uncleaned, the staffs worked there had no responsibilities. Not much attention to the patients. When the doctor he never minded to check with family members about the illness of the patients, we had to separately and meet him to explain everything, then he had no clue of the illness. Better visit some other hospital in Plano near by.

I think the other two reviews were meant for the Methodist Richardson location on Campbell as this location is an Emergency Room and outpatient offices. Last night I had a great experience in this ER– the staff was extremely courteous from beginning to end.
The staff that works at this ER rotates between the main campus of Methodist Richardson and this smaller satellite ER. Everyone who came into my room introduced themselves and told me what they were going to do.
This ER is only a few years old and the facilities were very clean and well kept. They have a flat screen TV in each treatment room.
Obviously, no one likes to go to the ER but this is a wonderful alternative to waiting for hours in the ER of a large hospital.

Avoid the ER. My Mother was in there 3x before they diagnosed a common kidney stone. The first visit they did absolutely nothing. The second visit they told her she had a UTI — this was based on blood in her urine only. After 2 days, she went back and she (my mother) insisted on a CAT scan. Come to find out she had a kidney stone and no UTI at all. The nurse who was training two student nurses was extremely rude and condescending. She was very dismissive which is the opposite care you expect in the ER. Overall they misdiagnosed a very common ailment which prolonged pain and suffering. No wonder our medical system is not working. Now insurance has to pay for three visits when it could have been one easily.
As a side note, today’s visit was much more professional and her nurse was Scott who was wonderful.

My sister is currently in this hospital and the care by the night nursing staff is pitiful. She might as well be home alone. I would avoid this place at all costs.
