Everything was clean. No bugs. No residual smoke smell in our non-smoking room. The room smelled a bit like stale water, though. Otherwise, good last-minute place to stay while on the road.

We have to agree with Roger’s review under the«non recommended review» section. Owner seemed rather odd, very watchful of everything which made us feel guilty of something although we certainly didn’t do anything wrong. Motel is old but fairly clean. No wifi, old tube tv, stove didn’t work… Owner is main complaint, very rough and critical it seemed anyway. $ 70.00/night is about $ 20.00 too much in our opinion.

On our 12th hour of the day on a drive from Rhode Island, we stopped in the town of Richardton, hoping to find a place to pull over to rest. We planned on stopping for a little while and continuing on to our destination, despite hoping to have a place to get a full night of sleep. Earlier in the day, we had been trying to find a hotel/motel, near Bismarck or Dickinson and anywhere along the way. Not having any luck, we gave up. It was pitch black, so we had no idea what the little town was like, but we happened to come across this motel with a vacancy sign pretty close to the highway. The price was $ 70, which was $ 15 more than we were used to paying on the trip. The woman at the desk was very friendly. The room was clean, especially the bathroom and shower. I especially liked the curtain in the bathroom made out of a towel. The room had a cute little kitchen, which included a microwave, refrigerator and even a cutting board and plastic cutlery. We didn’t have time to use the kitchen, but it would have been really great, had we used it. There was a TV, but no wifi. The walls were thin so we could hear a loud TV of the person staying next to us until probably 3am and then the room on the other side used their TV at 5:30am. Leaving the town the next morning, it seemed really small but we passed a grocery store and some churches. We also noticed, every local person we passed in the town waved to us which was very pleasant, and we started waving back. Besides for the loud TVs, this hotel was very nice and saved us from a sleepless night of driving.

The Ray Bern Motel, a cyclist unfriendly motel.. The owner would not let us check in until 4 pm despite the fact we arrived there at 3 pm, hot and tired. She complained about cyclists putting grease on her sheets and would not allow us to put our bikes in the room. She offered us no alternative. She made a rude comment about the grease that we had on our shirt. She also has no internet connection but was quite happy to tell us about her neighbour’s unsecured signal. Avoid this place like the plague! Only go there if you are desperate.
