Kindra’s Wok ‘n Roll

Pretty sure I waited almost 50 mins for food here on lunch, was almost late back to work, and there was a hair in my boyfriend’s food. So, there ya have it.

I moved to tri-​cities from the San Francisco bay area and was worried about the types and quality of Asian food that I would be able to get (as I love Bahn Mi’s). Low and behold, near where I work is one of the best food trucks in town! I am a strong supporter of the food truck movement in the fact that it allows the business to start up with less capital outlay and a lower risk. For those of you who think food truck are the same old ‘roach coaches’ as the old coffee trucks from 20 years ago, get out there and try some of the food and your view will change!
Kindra’s Wok and Roll:
Pros:
* Excellent food at reasonable prices — ’nuff said
* Consistent quality day in/​day out. I’ve never had a bad meal from Kindra’s in well over a year. All the ingredients are fresh (veggies, meat, rolls, etc.) and flavorful. I’m pretty picky too, always keeping an eye out for wilted lettuce, stale rolls, grisly meat… none of that here!
* Healthy/​tasty options available which is a nice change from most of the other restaurants in the area.
* Friendly staff: Even when they are busy (which they frequently are), they are polite and attentive, I’ve never heard anything even close to a rude remark from any of the staff. They even remember my name and I only come by a few times a month.
* Bahn Mi !!!
Cons:
* None that I can think of, they are consistently in the same spot, so I’ve only had once that they weren’t around (but they had posted on Facebook that they were on vacation, so my bad).
* Maybe hard to get to for some, but for me, easy access from work.

Kindra Wok N’ Roll does more than provide great food. Consistent with (what I consider to be) the Food Truck mantra, the staff is hard-​working, friendly, passionate, and geniunely involved with bettering the community through their own avenue. Kai and her crew will always provide a delicious product whence the lunchtime whistle blows.
But what really impresses me is the extensive part of her mindset and her business’ involvement. You will find Kindra Wok N’ Roll at many local events, supporting local business and assisting in digging in the solid foothold for the burgeoning artisinal movement arising from the ashes of failed big box stores. Further, I am now aware that she heads some very valuable charity movements geared toward young girls. You can’t not like this lady.
But about the food! Surely the many dishes offered at KWNR will impress, but in my limited experience, I landed on an overflowing gold mine with the WAM! Banh Mi sandwich. For under $ 5 you get a flakey and chewy hoagie stuffed with delicious pork, pickled veggies, cilantro, hot sauce and a special wasabi aoili. Not only will it fill your belly, it will saturate your soul with glee. In my most recent visit, I managed to score some Beef Buns (Bao) and was thrilled. Similar in profile to a Bahn Mi, these slightly sweet, doughy buns are filled with amazing tender beef, hot sauce, great Kim Chee, and cilantro. Both dishes (when available) are worth the shake.
Positives: Incredible food, incredible owner, food trucks unite!
Negatives: limited hours, may be out-​of-​the-​way for some (but not me!)

No longer located in John Dam Plaza, now located on 9^th off GWay behind Port of Benton building. I eat here all the time, I’ve never had a dish that hasn’t met the mark. Delicious phở, curries, Bam sandwich, chicken teriyaki, spring rolls. Follow on Facebook for special of the week. Kai (the lady who runs it) never forgets a name! I am a BIG fan!

This food truck is a gem, and I’m lucky that their lunchtime location is within a few blocks of my office. We don’t have many lunch options nearby, and most of those have mediocre food at high prices. Kindra’s has delicious, fresh food at extremely reasonable prices. I could eat any of their soups every day of the week. They have several different varieties of phở, and sometimes they have a different soup as their weekly special. My favorite so far is kow piek, which has amazing hand-​cut noodles and and chicken. It is served with a tiny container of very hot chili oil, so you can create the level of heat that you like. I can’t believe the amazing variety of offerings they have. Their bahn mi sandwiches are also great. You should try their spring rolls, too. They’re one of my favorite summertime lunches.
Kai and her family are lovely, friendly people. Customers are greeted with a smile (by name if you’ve been there once before, I swear). You may text your order (a good idea anyway, since they often sell out early) and pick it up a few minutes later. They are on Facebook, and they announce their weekly special, along with a picture. They also announce when they are doing events with other local businesses.

Can’t say enough good things about this place. Bahn Mi’s are on point, but everything is really good here! The owners are super friendly, and always have positive attitudes. TC needs more places like this that are locally owned. Way to set the bar KWNR!!!

Stopped for lunch today. Got the BBQ pork spring rolls and fried banana. Very tasty. Prices were reasonable, too. I would definitely do that again.

This place has great staff backed up by great food. The PHO is simply amazing, so glad we finally have a place in Richland where you can get it and its the best I have had in the tri cities. Definitely worth your time to check this place out.

Their beef phở is delicious, you can tell it is homemade broth. The toppings are generous and meat comes from Templeman’s! Not to mention they are fast, take phone orders and remember your name. Kendra’s is a regular lunch stop for me.

Excellent food and Great people! Always served with a smile! Their pad thai is different than what you typically get at thai restaurants and I love it (could be a laotian variation?). I highly recommend the shrimp pad thai. The Bahn mi is just right and their eggrolls are delicious!

Oh for the sweet spicy love of sandwiches! I have found a new favorite!
It’s called the WAM BAM! Have you tried it? It’s their bahn mi stuffed with wasabi, jalapeño, and sriracha. SO delicious. And they can’t keep them in stock– they are selling out of them an hour or two after opening. You think it’s going to burn your face off but really it just clears out your sinuses and gives your lips a zing. Everyone should try this– even if you are a spice wimp. Trust me, you’ll like it.
P. S. They aren’t in John Dam plaza anymore. They are on 9^th in North Richland behind the Port of Benton Admin building up by PNNL. And they are only open lunch hours right now. Check out their Facebook page for more info.

If anyone ever says anything different than the food is great and the people are awesome… they are missing the boat!!! This food truck is amazing, super clean and priced very well! I never ever miss a chance to eat here!

We came with high expectations, but left feeling let down. Comments from the group included: «Portion size was good and pricing was fair, but the food was pretty boring», «Nothing special», «Clean, but just was not impressed». Service was quick. Staff was friendly. Eating under the trees at John Dam was pleasant. Too bad the food didn’t deliver.

Pork egg rolls are fantastic and the food is all reasonably priced. Quick, friendly, and enjoyable owners. Must go.
