Sergeant Schaefer Oval

The historical perspective is on temporary hold as I gather up the proper information to make the review historically correct and hopefully worth reading.
In the meanwhile, so much can be mentioned and enjoyed about this peaceful little green space.
Set back from the traffic induced black top, The Oval has many points of entrance access from Myrtle Ave, Park Lane, Forest Park. Locating The Ovals sitting area is quite easy as the clue is a large caliber shell sitting atop a memorial (Medal of Honor recipient) as the parks center piece. It’s a powerful feeling walking infront of the statue that is at the main entetance, a wonderful dedication and a must see.
The park bench positionings are all slightly curved so whichever seat you choose, you have a great view of Forest Park.
During the non winter season, there is a plethora of flowers, small yet colorful shrubs and some tall trees that canopy overhead to filter the suns rays.
