John A. came out when he said he would to root a non-​draining drain and a slow draining bathtub. Showed and told me what needed to be done, got my okay, did a lot of the work, but after working most of the afternoon, determined the machine he had was not powerful enough to break through the blockage. He did come back first call the next day with the proper machine and was done within an hour and a half. Also put some plumbers tape around a cracked drain stem and said he would come back if it started to leak. During the clean-​up after he left, the drip became a leak so he was called back, installed a new drain stem.
I found John A. to be be rather gruff in tone when talking to me about the work. Also his assistant the first day was very unprofessional so much so was fired on the spot. When John cut through the wall to replace a portion of the pipe he did so in a very uneven fashion. Will have to repair the wall if I put in a pedestal sink.
It’s never inexpensive to call a plumber. Why?

I called AB & Son (found them in the clipper magazine) to come out and quote me for my bathroom tub not draining properly. AB & Son sent John A. out (the Service Order/​Proposal form said A+ Rooter Plumbers D.B.A AB & Son) to my house and I explained the situation of when I use my garbage disposal or pour a lot of water down my kitchen sink my bathtub backs up and now it is taken hours for the tub to drain… John A. suggested that he «snack» or «power rod» the kitchen sink which I agreed too. John A. said that he went about 3 feet in with the power rod and when he pulled out the rod there was a black wet substance that he immediately said was MUD and had me touch the end of it with my bare fingers, he said that he was 100% sure that there was a pipe that broke/​cracked and that he would need to remove my kitchen cabinet that houses my sink, remove the drywall and bust through the concrete to get to the broken pipe and he estimated the cost to be $ 3,600.00 (YES $ 3600.00) I said I could not afford that so he brought the quote down to $ 2,800.00 (I have the quote in front of me), I told him I would have to think about it and get back to him. SO, I called 2 other plumbing companies (I will not mention the 2^nd companies name) the 2^nd company came out and told me that John A. from AB & Son or A+ Rooter Plumbers) was scamming me and that the MUD was in fact raw sewage and I just had a blockage, the 3^rd company who did the work for me came out and said the same thing that John A. from AB & Son/​A+ Rooter Plumbers was defiantly trying to scam me and quoted me a very reasonable rate and I hired them and it cost me $ 275.00 and not only does not bathroom tub drain properly it has never drained so good in the 11 years I have owned this house, they also removed my garbage disposal, put in a new kitchen drain, and replaced piping under the kitchen sink with PVC piping and everything is working wonderfully. The company I hired and highly recommend is Maxson Plumbing and Remodeling or MPR

I never write any type of review BUT I could not stand by and let AB & Son/​A+ Rooter try to do to anyone else what they tried to do to me. I even called them after everything was fixed to let them know what occurred and they said a manager would call me back and a week later I’m still waiting.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ALWAYS GET A 2ND OPINION and DO YOUR RESEARCH ON LINE TO UNDERSTAND WHAT IS GOING ON AND RESEARCH THE COMPANY BEFORE YOU HIRE THEM.

We needed the sewer main to be cleaned out. The usual problem, tree roots getting in through cracks in old part of line that hadn’t been replaced. They called a couple of times to confirm ETA. They knew problem right off, got to work, showed me what they were doing. Problem solved. Robert did a good job.

I highly recommend AB & Sons! I am in the process of selling my home and had a small plumbing issue on the inspection report. They quickly responded — on a pretty minor issue — and were thorough in both the repair and the explanation of the repair. I really appreciate the profession care. Thanks guys.

We have a grease trap and it is hard to find a company that will come out and give good service. Last grease trapper did not rot out the line, just cleaned it out. AB agreed to meet the last companies prices. I really wondered if they would do the right job. Two plumbers were very respectful, friendly and assured me they had the experience to tackle our problem. They went the extra mile, and rotted out the drain pipe that went out to the street and it needed it. I received a two year warranty on their work, last company their work only lasted about eighteen months. I asked Brian to give me quotes on two possible future jobs and he was thorough and gave an estimate. Brian and his helper were very thorough, polite, and took the time to explain all their work. I would highly recommend this company.

Robert came on a Sunday and took care of my problem. Very knowledgeable and cleaned up after himself. And I got very good price. Highly recommended

I called AB to have a repair done on my hot water tank (at a home we just bought in Elgin, IL) and got put on the schedule right away. John came out as scheduled and reviewed the job and explained all the work that was required. We even found an issue that I was unaware of with a shut off that did not work. Even my home inspector missed that! He went right to work repairing the tank and let me know that if there was any problem what-​so-​ever he would return to make it right. I could not be more happy. he even offered to help me move a cabinet from my car to my son’s bedroom. Service could not be better. Even my cat liked him :) I don’t wish to need a plumber again but if I do I will certainly call back. A+++

I was not happy. $ 195 to unstick my dish Dish Disposal. Tracked mud into my house, didn’t clean up, used my wife’s gloves in the water, ruined those. In my opinion very unprofessional. On top of that didn’t accept the coupon that we called them from.
I won’t be calling them again.
