My coworkers and I venture to Akys on a pretty regular basis because we know we’ll get quality, delicious, flavorful food. We’ve dined in once or twice, but if theyre busy it might be a wait. We’ve ordered usually from their specials. They also have fresh baked pastries on occasion. I LOVE her soups… I even get them in the mason jars for later when she makes extras. The establishment gets bumped up to 5 stars because the owners treat their customers like real people… when I forgot my wallet & called they said don’t worry, we trust you and we don’t want you to be hungry. Come in and eat and don’t worry, & just come back tomorrow to pay. Granted, im a regular, but how many other places in the Bay do that?! Feels like I can trust in humanity again when stuff like that happens :) I totally support this mom-n-pop restaurant for the great food and for this friendly quirky Aky.

I really liked my chicken feta sandwich. I sort of wished it came with a side salad of some sort but it was filling enough. The lady who works here is really nice and kind of a character(see fedora) and the layout is pretty unusual. It’s quirky without seeming to be trying to be quirky, which I guess is another way to describe character.

Sadly, Aky’s has fallen to the bottom of my list for Point Richmond lunch places. It has great potential with their daily specials, and recently they’ve added more desserts and interesting hand-knit hats, soaps, and mouthwash! Sandwiches are decent — but service though friendly is very chaotic. I ordered a chicken curry over rice with Greek Salad for $ 12. I was pretty sure it was simmering away and not made to order, yet it took over 20 mins! I had to ask twice — yet there was still a lag between assembling the salad and scooping the rice and pouring the curry over it. The curry itself wasn’t bad — good flavors just a bit lukewarm and slightly-dry chicken. I should have stuck with Little China for curry! Its half the price, triple the service speed, and double the quality. I may venture back, but only if there’s something real eye-catching on the menu and/or there are five total customers or less.

Stopped by to get a cup of coffee; woman took my money and without so much as a «have a nice day» walked away from the register. Is this any way to treat customers? And the man standing next to the register was hostile, too. It seems that they have a minimum purchase before they will say«thank you» to their customers. Needless to add, no one in the place wears a hat.

One of the cutest places ever. So hip and cozy down to earth very laid back and comfy. Amazing food I mean absolutely ah mazing! Idk how you can make a damn sandwich taste so good! I wish my mama was here so I could slap her! Pastries are to die for. Cake so damn good I’d gladly get diabetes. Sweetest Lil owners ever feel like I’m apart of the family. Amazing customer service you simply can’t find to often. Wish it was in a more convenient location, but I guess that’s what makes this a place a gem. I seriously stumbled upon it after taking a wrong turn. So glad to have stopped by! I most certainly encourage you to stop on by too you won’t regret it! ;)

The lox on bagel are delicious. Every time I come in here, the lady(who I think is the owner) is always very gracious and welcoming. It reminds me of a café my aunt used to own. It’s a very cozy environment with interesting décor. I love having a nice place to go for breakfast in the Point.

Lunch: The Soup of the day, roast beef sandwich was delicious, looked beautiful and was served by a super friendly staff. A gentleman was playing the piano, really added to the atmosphere. The location is a bit out of the way, but worth it.

I ordered. I paid. I waited… and waited… and waited… while the chef owner chatted and chatted with staff and neighbors. I had walked out of the Up and Under after 10 minutes of being ignored. I gave Akey’s 15 minutes. I decided to leave when I watched the chef run her hands through her hair while prepping what I think was my food. 1). Talk or cook, make a choice. If you want to chat, hire a chef. 2). Read up on Food Safe. You NEVER touch yourself while prepping food without scrubbing down. It was pretty gross. You can keep my $ 10.00.

Not impressed at all, came in for a quick salad and there were no clean tables even though there were only 6 people in the café! All the tables were loaded with dirt plates and napkins… gross! Overpriced for a crappy salad I could have made myself and my moms pita was stale :(the bickering owners also made the vibe uncomfortable. Needless to say, I won’t be coming back.

Rude, rude, rude! Had a very nasty disposition. Extremely unfriendly. Nice thing is I can give my money the Starbucks corporation up the street. I know when I am not welcome. Thanks lady.

Aky’s has been a staple for my lunch rotation. They have great sandwiches on fresh bread, and she always toasts it. Most of the sandwiches come on focaccia. I usually get a tuna salad or chicken salad sandwich. I’m also a fan of her falafels in pita. There is usually a pasta based dish, and a rice and entrée based dish on her specials menu. I’ve seen chicken curry, pork, and kebabs as specials. Specials usually come with a salad. No espresso here, but she has coffee, tea, and other beverages. The space is quaint in an old building with exposed beams. She has a piano which I haven’t seen played, but sure there are days when a pianist does come. Aky also sells knitted goods, homemade mouthwash, and a homemade hot sauce too. She’s really sweet too and so is the rest of the staff. Look for yellow umbrellas by the freeway entrance. You won’t regret it!

They bill themselves as Persian/Mediterranean, which I love, but there is an awful lot of American on the menu too. The food is delicious. It’s my favorite lunch spot in Point Richmond. I hope they consider staying open longer for dinner. The staff is wonderful and will bring your food out and bus your table while you enjoy the great surroundings, which can be missing from lunch spots sometimes. It’s a good spot for dining alone or with the whole entourage. Their hummus is superb. I’ve rarely had such good hummus before. If they sell it by the pint I’m going to buy some. The desserts at the counter are really yummy– do try them. The other day I saw some people ordering the lentil, pea, and garbanzo bean soup. I’m going to have to go for that another day. It was quite mouth-watering by appearance.

UPDATENOV2014: Still has good food and pleasant owner. Still worth a stop-by if you are in PtRichmond. However — Max 1 hour allowance on internet. Remote work is not accommodated despite large number of unoccupied tables. Appears this may be a requirement of building owner and not restaurant owner; unsure. Bottomline — not best option for remote workers. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ PRIORREVIEWOCT2014: Yummy Food, Great Prices, Free Wireless, and Lovely Owner! Just can’t beat it for a remote work site. Lots of seating and free parking. For my fellow remote workers — this is a great option. Just be good to Aky and keep ordering food and drinks!!!

This place is nothing to rave about UNLESS you live in Pt. Richmond. I came here because I wanted to be near the water, near my work place, and I needed a quick bite and scurry back to work. The service albeit was friendly and looked family oriented which is always a good thing. But beware, they definitely have their FAVORITE customers on lock. I’ve seen 3 – 4 customers receive their meals before mine. My date even had to get up and see what the hold up was. And I only ordered a salad and my date a sandwich. It shouldn’t take 20 – 25 mins long. On top of that the FAVORED customers got sides of warm soups while they wait which even fueled my annoyance even more. When my food finally came, I noticed that it was the wrong salad. I ordered a salad that had spinach with It and not the lettuce that they gave me. The sandwich looked average something I could’ve made. Sad to say adiós to trying this place again.

I hate to be the debbie downer on Aky’s Café but I definitely did not have the same amazing experience as everyone else. I’d probably give 2 stars but the staff was so friendly that I decided to bump it up to 3. I ordered a Greek Salad and it was some romaine, canned black olives, a few crumbles of feta, a slice of tomato, and a few pieces of cucumber all for the glorious price of $ 11(I added some mediocre chicken on top). To top it off, the dressing tasted like Kraft Italian. It’s really not tough to make Greek dressing from scratch especially if you’re going to charge so much for a freaking salad. Regardless, not worth the price and I probably won’t be back.

I’ve now been here several times and they never fail to disappoint. So far, I’ve found no reason to stray from my early favorites… some variety of their incredible focaccia sandwiches. At some point, I’d like to try their soup(a soup/sandwich deal might be a good idea) since it always looks good. Whether it is the grilled chicken sandwich with feta, or the meatloaf sandwich that they occasionally offer on special(my personal fave), the bread is the star. It is perfectly crusty with a hint of rosemary that pairs nicely with the warm meat, and lettuce/tomato(I hold the onion). Service is always prompt and friendly. Drinks are self-serve. If sandwich/salad/soup isn’t your thing, they have a selection of entrees and daily specials. The relatively small menu allows them to focus on the quality of what they do. Definitely my favorite lunch spot in Point Richmond!
