I had a trip that was interrupted by a hijacking and extortion $ 1000. After paying off the hijackers, I missed my return flight. The new ticket cost $ 800.36 from the original $ 432.43 round-​trip. I informed the comoany and these link mathafakas refunded me $ 200. $ 200. How did they even come to that calculation? They’re pathetic.

When I was booking my trip I knew there was a chance my school semester may have been extended a few extra weeks, therefore I got the travel Insurance. I was under the assumption that Jet Blue and Allianz sold this to me as Trip protection in case I had to cancel my flight and be reimbursed. This was anything but so, apparently the insurance only covers if my flight is canceled or I’m dead, dying or hospitalized. I am probably the idiot that should of read the fine print, however never again because to me how it was packaged, it was sold as an insurance in case I could not make the trip. Moreover I was not told any of this when I purchased the Insurance, some document stating the polices was only sent after I purchased the insurance. I use to think Jet blue was one of the better airlines, when it came to its customers, but I am reminded we live in a true capitalistic society and therefore anything for bottom line. As for Allianz, from the hundreds of other complaints I see bellow, clearly I am not the only one that was duped by this dubious, questionable, borderline unethical/​false marketing grantee when booking flights. Needless to say I will never purchase another insurance from them.

I had policy for a year, haven’t used it and tried to renew it. Tried 11 times and the phone just rang out.
Their Customer Service is awful and having read all the other reports I will certainly not renew with Allianz.
Customer Service and Allianz are an oxymoron.
Don’t waste your time with this Company.

Allianz Global Assistance is a complete scam. I paid for ticket insurance, and when I realized that I wasn’t going to be able to make the event that I paid for, I contacted them to cancel my ticket and receive a refund. They claimed that I did not purchase the ticket insurance. Being that they never sent me the insurance policy, I had to email them my bank statements to prove that I paid for both the ticket and the ticket insurance. They still to this day after fighting with them for a month are claiming that their finance department is still verifying my payment. They will not issue the insurance policy, and they will not issue a refund on my ticket as they’ve simply ignored my many attempts. I’m considering suing them in small claims because I’m fed up with corporations like this scamming people who are too busy to fight.

HORRIBLE customer service. People can’t understand English well enough to understand what you are asking. When you ask to be transferred they do the ‘hold forever’ trick. DON’T do business with this company! The only way you’ll be happy you did is if you don’t have to use or modify the policy.

i specifically purchased the insurance because we were not sure if we could all make it to the show… and turns out, all 3 of my group myself included could not go. i had to go out of state for work and the other 2 could not get the day off as they were promised… so…i called allianz to file a claim and i have to provide notarized supporting documents from all employers saying we all had to work! and even then, they can’t guarantee it’s good enough… apparently, even if it were a sickness, death, birth, they still want death records, birth records, and doctors notes! are you fucking kidding me? i bought these tickets with the notion that with insurance, i could cancel last minute if something came up or we could not make it!!!
i spoke to 3 different people including oscar the floor manager for the call center and they basically told me they could go fuck myself in the most professional way they could!
i’m out $ 114.00 because of you thieving pricks! i hope that you guys get screwed out of money in your personal lives during hard times and someone tells you… oops sorry, thats not a good enough excuse, you or someone else has to be dead, before we will even think about it… don’t forget your supporting documents!

SCAM Alert!!! If I would have rated them during my trip it would have been 5 stars. That’s only because I thought they had me covered when I had a medical emergency scare while in Mexico… Now 2 months later… I finally find out they are just now starting to process my claim and it’s being reviewed. They require my US Primary Doctor to fill out several pages of forms and the Mexico Dr as well before they can determine if they will pay my small claim. They say it was in the doc’s I agreed to. So you all better read all 32 pages of terms and you will probably need an attorney to translate the creative wording in thise terms which pretty much makes all the process” Not Worth it”. Never again, live and learn

I bought the insurance coverage and of course when I had to use it they would not cover the incident. I will never pay for travel insurance from this company again.
Total misrepresentation of what this insurance coverage when purchasing through Jet Blue.
Buyer beware.

Trip Cancellation Protection — Up to amount purchased
When in actuality you have to have docs and reason why you cancelled… mainly medical.

I wish I could give them negative stars! Unfortunately people that are buying insurance are getting jipped! If you have no patience you will never get your refund if you even qualify for it! It took over 4 months and multiple calls to have my refund returned. How does a check get lost more than twice? My old check had to be cancelled and a new one overnight-​ed to me. However this overnight service would take almost a week to arrive! Talk about promptness.

I purchased travel insurance for my Delta airline ticket and our trip was cut short due to my fathers passing. A week after the funeral I filed a claim due to trip interruption. The rep took my information and gave me a claim number and said they would mail me paperwork to complete, that didn’t show up so I called again, they were gonna email the paperwork, that never came either. I ended up just going to, their website looked up what supporting documents I needed, obituary, receipts from delta, original flight charge and the flight change fee. I wrote my claim number on everything and then e-​mailed, faxed and mailed a copy certified mail (I wrote that on my copies so, they would know I sent it three different ways and had proof of delivery). You have to get you paperwork in under a certain timeframe.
The bottom line is, they may give you the run around so, take matters into your own hands and document ever person, date and time you talk to someone and follow up.
In the end they refunded the $ 232 dollars Delta charged me to change my flight. I paid $ 30 for the insurance. I never really read the fine print I was hoping the original airfare would be reimbursed but it wasn’t.
I received my refund for the flight change fee in about 3 weeks.

Just got a letter denying my claim for an airline ticket refund.
Reason: «As your insuring agreement indicated, this is a named perils travel insurance program»
This insurance was totally misrepresented while purchasing my ticket from American Airlines?

Allianz Global Assistance is an absolute scam pushed onto us by Alaskan Airlines. We were advised by our doctor to not make a trip because my pregnant wife was entering an area infected with Zika Virus. I figured by having paid $ 40 for each of us as «Trip protection» that we would have no problem getting a refund on our flights. I basically bought it for this EXACT purpose when first hearing about the virus.
I submitted the doctors note as well as the emergency declaration that was issued around the spread of Zika as a claim to Allianz.
Our claims were both denied. No justification, just «Sorry, we can not approve your claim».
It is near impossible to get through to a live operator and when you finally do, they have no information to help you out.
Awesome «Trip Protection». Basically all the has happened here is that my wife and I were robbed and I will absolutely never fly Alaskan Airlines again. I will also never purchase optional travel insurance again.

Damn, they have such bad reviews. I feel really fortunate that my claim with Allianz was approved. My flight to NY from Palm Springs was cancelled due to a blizzard. We had a rent a car and drive to Phoenix to get a flight a few days later. They approved our airline tickets, food, rental car and lodging. Glad I purchased the insurance. I will continue to do so.

Wow. Had to review this to save poor souls in the future from wasting their money on such a terrible service and experience. In one word: robbery. Do NOT waste your money.

I thought I was doing the right thing: investing in $ 21/​person travel insurance for my $ 158 one way American Airline flight from NJ to Florida in the midst of the winter. Between the two tickets and insurance, I spent over $ 360 for a flight that got cancelled from a snowstorm.
When I heard that the storm would cancel the flight, I thanked my lucky stars that i purchased the insurance. I remembered reading that natural disasters (ie blizzards) were covered as long as the flight was not rescheduled within a 24 hour time period. Although I was forfeiting my vacation, atleast my expenses would be reimbursed. Boy was I wrong!
These agents are total snakes. Even though the policy clearly states that natural disasters where the airline cancels are covered, they somehow found some article of small print to MAKE sure I would not make any money back on the flight my airline cancelled!
They spoke robotically and told me I should have read all of the small print.
I encourage you to avoid purchasing this policy at all costs. The stress it causes is worth a vacation alone. Please do not give in, bc if the flight gets cancelled, they make it their business to keep every cent of your money.
I wish I did my research before buying it. The 1.4 star reviews speak for themselves. Save yourself $ 21. Save yourself the headache and the stress. Be smart and DO NOT purchase this policy.

I am so thankful we had Allianz Global insurance when my husband purchased his ticket to Michigan earlier this year. It was scheduled right after our little girl was supposed to be born, but with the complications that arose from delivery, he wouldn’t be able to make the flight. Normally, it was a non-​refundable flight, but after speaking with Allianz about it, they said the cancellation request would more than likely be approved.
We submitted the necessary documentation and sure enough, our refund was approved and we received the check within a few days. I was thankful to have them on our side! Now, I don’t hesitate paying for insurance on every flight just in case something extenuating happens again.

Allianz and its plan is a scam being offered through United Airlines as a travel insurance to cover against change fees to flights. I opted to pay for this coverage on the United Airlines website when finalizing my flight reservation payment.
The coverage cost me approx. $ 20 additional. When my company changed its conference dates I contacted United to change my flight. I was surprised to see fees on each flight to change the dates– adding up to $ 400. When I asked United about the insurance I purchased to guard against such fees I was directed to contact Allianz and told to file a claim with them.
I called Allianz and they assured me my claim would be DENIED because only an employer reason related to termination of my position would qualify me to be covered for any change fees.
I’m shocked that United Airlines is passing Allianz as a travel insurance that will provide the needed coverage for customers. Allianz has a narrow definition of customer protection, doesn’t even offer the coverage needed for change fees with United ($ 400 change fee, $ 350 limit for claims with additional fees charged by Allianz when submitting claims), and experiencing their customer service representatives over the phone is like having a conversation with a scam artist from a developing country!
I want my $ 20 refunded for this scam that falsely proclaims its offering travel insurance.
I’m contacting United now to have $ 400 of change fees waived after not being covered by these scam artists.

Along with Ticketmaster, these guys are shady crooks. After purchasing tickets through Ticketmaster, and paying nearly $ 20 per ticket in fees, I received a separate insurance bill from Allianz for $ 35.
I NEVER purchase insurance, especially not on event tickets that I can resell if I’m unable to make it. So I’m absolutely sure I didn’t opt in. Luckily I caught their scam and called immediately for my refund. Poor Roger must take calls like mine all day long. I hope they at least pay him well.

An absolute scam.
I had to cancel a trip to Los Angeles for job-​related reasons. I submitted the claim and supporting paperwork as requested. They rejected the claim. When I clicked on the link to learn why they rejected it, the page didn’t load, so I don’t know. I’m stuck with a flight I’m not going on, out of $ 250.
Their online system is shoddy and often doesn’t work.
They didn’t communicate with me that they rejected my claim.
Terrible waste of money, and shameful that Delta partners with them. It’s corporate greed and legalese at its worst.
What’s the point of travel insurance when they reject your claim anyways?
