I’m actually shocked as many people are giving this place 5 stars. The ambiance rocks, and it’s a great concept. We had the loaded tater tots, and they were very good. The onion rings, so so. The staff are friendly and it has everything going for it… except the burgers. C’mon, people really think this is the best burger in town? Give me a break. The patties are abnormally small. Like school cafeteria small. They are also very greasy. Within 5 minutes of getting home, I’m running to the bathroom. The specialty burgers are interesting, but they also don’t serve enough normal burger selections. The buns are also good, but that’s the best part… which is pretty disappointing for a burger joint. No pickle is also weird, as they instead serve pickled carrots and onions. I’d go there again before a movie to grab a beer and an appetizer, but that’s it. The burgers are average and overpriced. I’m waiting for Citizen Burger Bar to come to town!!!

Let me start by saying I think the place is cute as a button! It has that retro diner look that I am a huge fan of and that sign out front is ONPOINT. Too bad that they are apparently paying for the renovation with prices that are out of sync with what you get. DH and I went for dinner after enjoying some pinball during the Arcade Night event at Hardywood. The line was long — but since there were just two of us, we were seated quickly. The draft list was great and I thoroughly enjoyed the Lickinghole Creek’s Chai Black Bear. We started with the loaded fries for $ 5.95. They were tasty, but DH and I like the heat and we would’ve taken more jalapenos. I had the Parker Field burger for $ 8.95. TIP! These burgers come with zero sides unless you add them. Unlike Burger Bach where you get a fresh salad or Station 2 with a choice of options(SWEETPOTATOTOTS), Boulevard Burger and Brew wants to nickle and dime your eating experience. It’s not like I didn’t like my burger, I am not sure I would pay $ 8.95 for it. Same with DH, he liked his Diablo for $ 7.95, he just didn’t love it enough to put this place on our list of MUST VISITs. We ended our meal with Chocolate Sea Salted Caramel Adult Milkshakes. FULLOFYUM! I can recommend these $ 9 treats whole-heartedly. While I won’t go back for a meal, if I have some time to kill before the movies I’ll try to get a seat a the bar for another one of these.

Great experience today. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and fries. I know it may sound hard to get excited about a burger and fries but it was awesome. Wait staff was on point and all was good. Looking forward to going back again.

If you go to any theme park in the United States, many of their restaurants are themed and have specific types of cuisine to offer. Many are featuring a «retro» feel, and have the 50’s drive-thru décor to make up for mediocre food and service. Happily, Boulevard Burger & Brew offers that retro feel, but ups the ante with tasty food, a terrific offering of drinks for all ages, and very good service overall. The Boulevard continues to add more fuel to the«Keep Baseball on the Boulevard» argument, with this place fitting in quite nicely, thank you, Las Vegas-themed signage notwithstanding, with this and other new Scott’s Addition businesses giving a shot in the arm to this all-of-a-sudden hip and happening area. BB&B occupies the space of a previous iconic and landmarked eatery that kept the airy, open, and mostly glass-fronted exterior intact. It is as if you stepped back in time when you step into the place, and the only thing that makes you snap back into the present are the enormous TV’s over the large bar area. Now as far as dinner seating is concerned, the place is relatively small and offers seating for smaller parties much quicker than larger ones. The bar may be the best option for singles or a couple wanting the malt-shop experience. Since they have a Happy Hour every day(including weekends) all of the seats fill up quickly(they are opening for lunch this week, which will probably make the crush a bit lighter). So you should be prepared to wait if you wish to dine in. Fortunately, the bar supplies a considerable beer list, featuring local craft brewers like Lickinghole Creek and Ardent. This takes the edge off of the wait, especially when it is cold, and the idea of hanging out in the cold patio area(assuming it is being primed for outdoor seating in the spring and summer) is not pleasing. Next, we come to the food, a pleasing array of burgers, sandwiches and salads that pay homage to the other restaurants owned by the EAT group in Richmond(like the FooDog hot dog and the Fatty D burger). The burgers we got were good,(I got the Diablo, and it was pretty hot with jalapenos sliced LONGWAYS instead of the traditional circles n seeds, pepper jack cheese, a special hot sauce, and it was a good thing my IPA was nearby!) but a bit undercooked(could have been the wait putting stress on the kitchen to get the food out a tad faster). The sides were fine but not completely unforgettable, although the mac and cheese triangles appetizer we got was a golden-fried bit of heaven. Their presentation was the most fun aspect, with mini-deep-fryers holding the sides in a pleasantly fresh and fun style. The service was above average and did not hover too much(although I would say that to the people who would loiter at their tables while dozens of people in eye view wait patiently for a table, it’s time to give a little more thought to those that are waiting, and not check your phone for over a half an hour after you eat). So, all in all, BB&B is a winner but there are some small tweaks to work out, like allowing a party of three a booth if they’ve been waiting over a half hour, or making sure medium well MEANS medium well. Other than that, I look forward to trying more burgers, sandwiches and appetizers at this funky, fun, and retro new place. Don’t look know, but the Boulevard is back in a big way, and this may be just the beginning of an urban renaissance that just may entice the powers that be to keep the Richmond Flying Squirrels in one of the most vibrant, up and coming, and food forward areas in the RVA. Here’s hoping…

Excellent vibe. Good beer list and the burgers are phenomenal. Adult shakes, yum. There on opening week and a few kinks to work out, like server knowledge of menu details and beer styles. Can’t wait till crowds die back to a reasonable wait time.

The cocktail list is one of the best in town including boozy shakes and great bar shareables. The whole menu is fun giving nods to local places nearby and they offer a game room so you’ll never get bored.

Noticed this place out of the blue one day on my way home from work, thinking, «how have I not noticed this before now?» Granted, I just moved to the area with my wife, I’ve driven by several time. Turns out there’s a good answer — it’s new! And it has been packed EVERY night I’ve driven by on my way home from work. My wife and I decided to check it out one evening last week, took a little while to find parking, and had about a 20 minute wait — seemed like everyone in the city was trying this place that night. We made it in time for a quick drink during happy hour — 2 beers from a great selection for ~$ 9 including the tip. Can’t beat that anywhere else. We were seated in a section utilizing old arcade game tables for dinner tables. If you’re in to that sort of thing, they were still functional for $ 0.50. Personally, I hope we get a table out in the more open section of the restaurant next time, but seating arrangements did not deter my opinion of this restaurant. After being seated, our waiter(apologies, I cannot remember his name) was very awesome, very respectful, and seemed like he knew the menu inside and out. We decided on the load fries appetizer to come out with our food. I ordered the Chuck Norris Black and Blue burger with bacon for dinner(forgive me, I can’t remember what my wife ordered, but she did enjoy it). We split a milkshake for dessert, again cannot remember the name, but it was delicious, with salted caramel whiskey among other tasty ingredients. Overall, spent ~$ 60 on an impromptu date night with my amazing wife: 3 beers, appetizer, 2 burgers, and a shake. Seems a little pricey, but the quality of the food and the service definitely make it worth it. As I’ve seen mentioned in another comment, the only con I can think of is that there are no sides with the entrees — but, they are priced fair enough, that this is not a turn-off or a reason to rate the restaurant lower than 5 stars. I suppose another con is that they are not currently open for lunch, but according to our waiter, this is in the works to start soon. If this is the case, it’ll be a great spot for lunch with co-workers, less the alcohol! Looking forward to making this a regular place with my wife and our friends in the coming months!

I made the questionable decision(at the insistence of my lady friend) to come out to eat today after the big snowstorm blanketed the Richmond area. I attempted to pull my car into the lot and got stuck on some snow, and employees from here IMMEDIATELY came out to help me push the car out(and we were successful in that effort). Way to start off the experience on a positive note, Boulevard! Found a space in the lot and went inside. The interior is beautiful and very reminiscent of the 50’s diners, an ideal setting for a burger joint. We were immediately greeted and quickly seated and given menus. Despite the weather, there were quite a number of other customers, so clearly this place is already held in high esteem by other locals. The menu was full of unique and delicious-sounding offerings and I opted for the Chuck Norris Black and Bleu Burger while my friend got the Yard Bird. Both tasted excellent and unlike anything I have tried before(and I have had MANY bleu cheese burgers!). While neither of us opted for drinks on this occasion, the ones we saw served looked very appealing, and the happy hour this place has from 4 – 7 sounded good as well. As I would have guessed from my first impression with the car issue, the service was excellent. Our server was quick and friendly(my receipt says Anton, though I thought I remember his name being Nate? Sorry, I should have paid better attention. He had a Mercy Street shirt on and worked on the show.) and took excellent care of us. Good service is hard to come by, take it from someone who worked as a server, bartender, and manager for several years. Excellent experience here. The only drawback I would mention here is the separation of the burgers from their sides in the price. While most burgers are listed from $ 7 — $ 9, this does not include the sides, available at $ 3, or around $ 6 if you want them loaded. However, considering the quality of the food, so long as you know about the separation to begin with, a meal of this quality for about $ 12 isn’t unfair. I was extremely pleased by my experience here and I look forward to returning(thankfully it’s very close to where I live!). Overall: 5.0 stars — — — — — — Pros: — Excellent food, and a great variety to choose from. — Service goes above and beyond the call of duty, my kudos and thanks to them. — Great selection of spiked milkshakes and beers(so many taps!) — Interior looks great and pulls off the 50’s vibe well. — Private lot parking makes things easier on a street as busy as Boulevard. Cons: — Sides are not included in the sandwich price, though prices are still fair considering this.

I really liked my first visit to Boulevard Burger. I got The Diablo with a side of onion rings, and both were absolutely delicious. The service and ambience were very good as well.

What’s else is there to say. amazing burgers, great draft selection and best of all boozy shakes! Having a parking lot in this part of town is a huge plus. Definitely try the Fatty D, an ode to their sister restaurant Fat Dragon only 1 block away which is a great spot to grab a drink while you’re on a wait which is expected to be long on a weekend night! Service was attentive and graceful. A great addition to the neighborhood and RVA in general.

Such a cool vibe to this place and killer burgers. It’s definitely an experience worth having if you’re in Richmond because the place has a really unique throwback to an era before my time kinda feel to it. My gf and I played Arcade games in the game room which was an unexpected plus, and on top of that we had the best burgers we’ve had since hop doddy in ATX!

This place is great! Their happy hour is awesome and the location couldn’t be better. If you want local beer on tap this is a great spot and the food and prices really couldn’t be better. I’ve never had an «adult«milkshake before but now I don’t ever want a regular one! This is a great place, don’t mind the wait it’s worth it!

When I first heard that boulevard was getting a new burger joint, that’s really all I need to hear to get up and go try it! The look of it is beautiful, I’ll admit before they had their sign up it was a work in progress but now that the sign is lit it’s sure a beauty. The boyfriend and I came here on a Friday night around 6 so of course we were expecting a new joint like this to be pretty packed. Even though they were re paving their parking lot we easily found street parking. When we walked in the hostess said the wait would be 20 – 25 mins. The hostess than told us unless would you guys like to eat in the game room, the boyfriend and I said yes and away we went. Like one reviewer mentioned before, I literally thought game room must mean arcade games with high top seating. But it literally was pac man table with a tiny stool. Now don’t get me wrong I still loved it, but I think next time I would just wait for a table. For the food, I loved it! We ordered the beer batter onion rings and I got the chuck Norris spice burger with blue cheese, I honestly don’t remember what my boyfriend ordered. So two burgers and shared onion rings was enough for just us two! My burger was great actually more than great just straight up delicious. Most of the time when you get blue cheese on a burger it gets lost and I maybe lucky to just get a little taste. BB&B really let it shine! The way the little spice kick the burger had with the blue cheese just made it so beautifully blend in flavor. Now I know some people are upset about the size but come on, good food and flavor don’t have to come in huge portions. My burger was more than enough for me and for the price($ 8) I say you can’t really beat it. I will definitely be back to have dinner again or my boyfriend told me they might be open for lunch soon. I really wanna try their milkshakes, their boozy shakes, and more of their burgers. Overall, I feel like this place will be the best summer joint. With the diamond real close by and movieland, this place is gonna be perfect for summer night hang outs and date night, I can’t wait!

Boulevard Burger is awesome. Just straight up, awesome. From the moment my girlfriend and I walked in, I knew I was going to live it. It has the nostalgic feel of a 50’s diner, with a modern twist and a huge selection of beers on tap. We were seated in the«game room,» which meant we actually are our meal on top of a tabletop Pac Man game. It wasn’t very roomy, but hey, how many times can you say that you are a burger off a Pac Man arcade game? The burger was PHENOMENAL. I had the El Diablo and my girlfriend had the Chuck Norris, and we were both raving about the flavors of each. Paired with some onion rings and fresh local veggies, this was one of the best burger meals I’ve ever had. And at $ 8 a burger, this gives Five Guys a run for their money. I can definitely see this becoming the«it» spot this summer for both the Fan crowd and VCU students on holiday. Plus, it’s close to the Diamond and would be a great spot to grab a bite before a game. I love what I’m seeing done to the Boulevard and Scott’s Addition and it makes me proud to watch the Richmond community continue to thrive. Well done, guys! A+

I have been so excited to eat at BB&B! We knew there was going to be a wait(5:30 on a Friday), and that was a-ok with us(party of two). Pros: Hostess quoted us a 20 – 25 minute wait which was exactly right. Best tots I’ve had in a while. Pickled onions served with the burger instead of standard pickles — who would have thought! Very VERY good service. The hostess, waiter, bar tender, and management were all knowledgeable, polite, and genuinely passionate about their food and drink. Middle Ground: We were underwhelmed by the burgers(The Bowtie and Triple Play). The bar was extremely crowded. Not sure how many people were there for a happy hour cocktail instead of dinner but this made for a very loud and crowded environment for such a small space. Patrons were lined up 2 – 3 people deep and spilled into the general seating area causing a bit of a traffic jam in some areas. Cons: Seating. The first table we were offered was 6 feet inside the entrance and we would have had people waiting for their tables hovering around us while we ate. The hostess was patient and led us to a «table» in the Game Room which is further back within the restaurant. This«table» was a PacMan station. In theory, this ROCKS but we would have loved to have seen the consoles adapted into actual tables and raised so that a non-10 year old could comfortably sit and enjoy their food and drink without sitting side-saddle. Overall I think that BB&B will rock in about 6 months once some kinks are worked out: While it looks great from the street, the fluorescent lighting is less than inviting once you get inside. Why does it seem like the bar takes up over ½ of the environment? Is this supposed to be a place for people to pre-game for a movie or for families to grab a meal? Both are great options, but it is difficult to find a balance. Where do you expect people to wait for a table so that they don’t block the entrance or crowd seated guests?(Assuming that the fenced in outdoor space is going to be seating once the weather warms up.) Just some food for thought :) Good luck EAT group! Can’t wait to see how this all pans out.

I base this review solely on waiting, as I did not get a chance to eat. Got there Friday evening around 545. Full already. Hostess says that for myself, my wife, and 2 kids, it would be a 35 to 40 minute wait. 1 ½ hrs later, we simply left. I understand not pushing people out the door, at least take the opportunity to let patrons know it’s taking longer than the original time estimate.

Good location but small parking lot, great drink selection, good flavored burgers. Smaller portions were slight disappointment, dipping sauce for onion rings was nothing special(ranch) and sweet potato fries were burnt. Diner feel, a bit cold maybe due to the glass windows and winter temps. This place is really for drinkers w wide selection of local beers, cocktails and boozy shakes. A few tvs to watch some sports

I feel like I fell for the hype here. Having seen the grand opening days ago where the place was packed no doubt with family friends and locals… I stopped in today to see if the Burgers were up to the overall noise about this place. Yes I came for the burgers, not the beer. I am most likely not the target demographic for this place as I actually came here as a kid and remember Kelly’s Hamburgers in the 1960’s. Burgers are Big Business now and Restaurants have to deliver a burger that taste so good customers want to come back. The Kelly Classic failed to deliver the goods for me. I am used to a real burger. This non GMO organic style burger might fit the craft beer guzzling crowd but not me. Plus it had so much salt in it I immediately got dry mouth. They certainly have been hyping this spot on their Facebook page. But something doesn’t add up here. My servers were pretty good although the training of a second server on the job isn’t always preferred by customers. I may have expected too much but I don’t think so. I’m just giving you my perspective. ***this review doesn’t reflect any of the bar/brews offerings which looked to be quite extensive and popular***…also They did a nice job with the bar, tables, and booths. More Cons: *No Coke Products *No sign or lights in the parking lot yet *10 minutes before opening at 4pm there was a detail crew in the parking lot detailing cars *No pickles for your burgers, seriously *The most uncomfortable metal chairs to sit on *Two customers just in for a burger and a couple of extras NO Beer or Alcohol and the bill with tip was $ 50!!!

My friends and I have been looking forward coming to this restaurant for weeks! The place was packed but in my opinion that’s a good thing! After all It was only day 2 of the grand opening for the week! My friend and I enjoyed the Parker Field Burger and the Bow Tie and all I have to say is WHOKNEWPOPCORNPESTOCOULDBESOGOOD!!! We also partook in the Center of The Universe’s «Shut Up!» Belgian Dark Strong and the Sprecher Hard Apple Pie Soda beer! Each drop was amazing!!! It’s definitely a great place with friendly staff all while providing a familiar sense of nostalgia! I will definitely be back!

Hello newbie! Welcome to the Boulevard with a burger and beer: this registered historic landmark in RVA had gotten a new breath of life thanks to this local diner. Nestled in Scotts Addition, locals are bound to find beauty in the old while diving into one of the best new burger joints in town. Just opened, her packed seats are filled to the brim with hungry foodie enthusiasts dying for the newest flavor in town. Pop on in and take a seat at the bar, for a classic cream soda or a drunken milkshake sure to please any tastebuds. All the uniqueness of the west coast burger joints with the pizzaz of the east coast tradition. As a fellow patron beside me noted he came here as a kid for burgers and was happy it was reopened and restored to continue that tradition. My menu option was a yardbird(turned burger) with a draft beer. While I was disappointed to not get fries or o-rings(they come in the festive mini«fry baskets»), my burger was more than filling. Topped with avocado, caramelized onion and peppers, i was stuffed. After seeing a fun drink called«weird science» I gave it a go(like a Long Island in a beaker but better), it was the perfect drink to enjoy while watching the game. Even if you aren’t into watching tv, the booths offer a more«romantic» atmosphere, or try the pac man tables near the kitchen for a fun competitive game(quarters needed). Overall, a delight to visit and worth it if you are looking for a fun date night spot(hello 80s music) or even a casual night out with friends. Stop on in and take a bite!
