Deep Run Park

First time at this park, and loved the park. Next time I am definitely going to bring my dog !

We visit deep run a few times a week when the weather is good. It’s such a pretty park with lots of area to explore and get a good walk in with the dogs. It can get a little crowded by the pond when the weather is warm, so be sure to explore other areas.

I came here for an afternoon walk with a friend and loved it. The trails are excellent and very easy to navigate. We parked but the Rec center and there was plenty of parking. I loved how active and vibrant it was on a random Wednesday afternoon. There were many families and active people walking, running and kids on the playground. I think my friend and I got mixed up on a cross country course for kids but they weren’t bothered and just ran around us. I plan to go back to experience the lakes and scenery with my husband and maybe do a few weekend runs. Glad to find this gem!

So, this park is amazing… and I’ve only been there once. There is actually an entire section that I did not get to explore. I ended up at the area with the fountains and a basketball court. I was quite impressed with all the seating areas. Also, it has a lot shade. I wanted to know if this was a good option for a quick run when I need a change of scenery. Initially, I thought it was kind of small, but then I drove around after my run and it is quite a large park. I’m looking forward to going back… even if it’s just to sit on a bench and chill.

Love this park, big with lots of play areas for kids :) I’ve been coming here since I was little and I can’t get enough of it. Beautiful during all seasons especially fall when all the acorns fall off the trees and the leaves change color. Also has two ponds and lots of turtles!

This is an awesome park. When I used to live nearby, my dog and I would walk into the park through one of the back trails.
I like how this park has some overgrown portions as well as the manicured traditional park look. It’s almost like two parks in one.
The ponds here are very relaxing to walk around and there never seems to be overcrowding here.
Parking is not too bad as if you keep driving into the park you almost always find a space.

Really nice park — caters to everyone. Paved paths, as well as pretty little dirt paths through the forest. There are basketball courts, and playgrounds for children, and many bathrooms.

Lots of room. Good for little kids to run around and plenty of good places for adults. It’s a park so there isn’t a lot to say. There is a lake and the park is built around it in a big circle. Nice times here. Only bad thing I noticed was the lack of no smoking signs, so you get those trashy people who sit on the bench next to the childrens playground and smoke. Seriously fuck those people.

I’ve been here several times over the years. From the perspective of a distance runner, it’s a great place to get in a short run or hike, but when I wanna go longer than a few miles I generally end up running through one of the adjacent neighborhoods to add distance. I appreciate that the park offers both paved and natural surface trails. And there are some pretty challenging hills!
The playground and picnic facilities are also very nice here, and the pond in the middle of the park makes for a nice focal point. This and Dorey Park are the two biggest and nicest parks in the Henrico system, but fall short of other municipal parks in the region, such as the James River Park System (which includes Belle Isle and Pony Pasture) in the City of Richmond and Rockwood Park and Henricus Park in Chesterfield Co.

My puppy, Wickett, and I found this gem of a park today! It was just what we were looking for — a quiet place to take a walk and relax! The ponds were beautiful and everything was very well cared for! This is a very special place tucked into the thick of things… so quiet and peaceful!

I have been going to this park since High School and it’s absolutely one of the best parks in Richmond, and bonus points for it being only 5 minutes from where I live. They have several different fields here for people who want to work out, toss a Frisbee, have a picnic etc. They also have a huge soccer field as well at the end of the park. This is the perfect place to people watch or just hangout with friends, old and new.
This park is easy to navigate as far as walking to each field if you take the one main path but if you want to venture on to the side/​smaller paths it may feel like a maze. I like walking the smaller paths because you get to see all the other parts of the park that you wouldn’t see if you were going the main way. This park is well maintained and I have never seen too much trash on the ground, if any. There’s plenty of parking at each different lot.
There’s an Indoor Recreation Center right in the middle of the park but I have never actually been inside; it looks nice. You can ride your mountain bike here as well as go trail running if you’re into those kind of things. I will occasionally come here with some friends after the «rush hour» of kids have had their fill on the playground and we will just play around and rekindle our love for playgrounds.
The ONLY downside is that there is only one very small shared entrance/​exit for vehicles to this park and it can get congested easily on nice days. Also, there are signs everywhere that say don’t feed the ducks/​geese but I still do…

A nice place to walk around the water, stare at the birds, or go for a healthy run. Nice web of interconnected trails.

I absolutely love this park, especially in the Spring and Summer. I love running around the lake and not to mention feeding the ducks and geese. There is tons of open space to run and play sports related activities with your children or loved ones.

Moved to the area and have enjoyed the park every time. Seems to be plenty of trails, benches, picnic/​gazebo areas, dog waste canisters and restroom facilities. My 6.5yo daughter likes the playgrounds but wishes they had more variety. Mainly tire swings, standard swings, small slides and monkey bars are what you’ll find. I do appreciate that the playground areas are well shaded so the equipment does not get scorching hot.

Family friendly park. Great for families. Paved trails. Stroller friendly. Dog friendly. Accessible although hilly in places. Clear areas. Playground equipment. Scenic pond. Gazebo. Picnic shelters. Basketball court. Bike friendly. A very versatile place. Wooded yet in the middle of a lot of activity. Keep an eye on kiddos.

A park is a park is a park.
I haven’t found a park that I don’t like. Deep Run is quaint. About ten minutes from Short Pump, in its own little world of enchanted forests, basketball courts, playgrounds, a body of water, picnic areas, gazebos, and the usual.

This is a REALLY nice park! It’s nestled in the woods, so you are surrounded by lots of nature and shade if you wish. There is a great full basketball court, lots or trails and a really nice playground for kids.
It’s kept up very well as far as trash cans being not full to over flowing and the equipment is well cared for. A nice big public rest room area at the top of the hill by the parking lot as well. Great place to let the kids run around or take the dog for a walk.

Really great park to stroll around your kind, walk around, play sports, picnics, etc. I really love this park. It is pretty close to my house so i have been trying to go everyday just to stroll around my newborn baby. It is not the best park in Richmond but is one of the best. I still believe maymont is the best in town.

What a nice park!
DH and I are still relatively new the area and found Deep Run Park using my trust Unilocal app on my phone. Happily, it lived up to the high expectations we had after reading the reviews.
The park offers a large number of paved and unpaved trails in a pretty wooded setting shared by walkers, walkers with (well-​behaved) dogs, joggers, cyclists, parents teaching kids to ride bikes, etc. There are playgrounds, ball fields, fishing ponds, picnic areas, and a Pavilion for events!
DH and I were able to give the dogs a good work-​out and enjoy a mild winter’s day. With so many trails of varying lengths, I never felt crowded. The dogs and I look forward to going back.

This 167 acre sanctuary has hilly and wooded trails that are great for a run, soccer fields, picnic shelters, a recreation center and two ponds that are actually stocked for fishing! There is also a Nature Pavilion where they have concerts and community events.
I’m a lover of Byrd and Maymont, but it’s great to have this far west end alternative.
