Good food. Presentation could be better. I’ve been here a lot. Its clean with a friendly staff. The limeade is a must. Its a takeout restaurant set up like a drive in so no eating inside. I highly recommend stopping.

Only had the chicken dinner with cole slaw and Mac and cheese, so I can’t speak to the whole menu. But … my meal was darn good and tasty, freshly made and hot. Nothing to complain about on my part. I’m giving a 5 star to offset some of the low ratings here that don’t quite jive with my experience. I’m moving to the area and will be back for sure. Next time I might experiment with other offerings to see if my original rating holds up.

Just all around bad. If you decide to order there anyway, be sure to inspect your order upon receiving for orders seem to be missing items frequently. I suspect the barbecue is oven cooked. If you are craving the nostalgia of elementary school cafeteria food, you will probably love this place. Otherwise, you’re better off skipping it. Small portions and terrible quality. Eek. May the lord have mercy on this place. Ha. Awful! It’s almost comical this place is so bad. All around fail. Looks like I’ll be going to pick up take-out twice tonight!

I have Ben going to Dunns for 25 years and the food is good, but the homemade limeades are to die for! I live in Williamsburg and can not pass it up if I travel past Dunns at meal time. I suggest you try the BBQ and limeades. Kenny

I tried Dunn’s out. The positives are that they had a lot of food choices, the kitchen was very clean, there were quite a few customers, and the staff was helpful. The negatives: This is in an older neighborhood that has a somewhat downer affect. I ordered the BBQ platter, and it wasn’t what I personally like. It was a Virginia BBQ(tomato sauce). They told me that when I ordered, so I took the risk knowing I like NC vinegar style BBQ. My friend got the bologna burger, which she said she had gotten as a kid years ago. She rated it «okay». I will say we both got large portions of food, and the price was $ 18.00 with large drinks. I may give them another visit and try something else on the menu.

BBQ is decent and fairly inexpensive. It’s an order-and-takeout kind of place with a vast menu list and a single bench to sit on while waiting to order. The meat comes in various types(pork, beef, chicken) and forms(chopped, sliced). You can add slaw — which is perfect. All of this comes in a bun ordered in large or small size. I recommend the chopped pork with slaw. Pretty good. People recommended the onion rings. Tried it. Not good. It was crunchy, for sure, but not tasty enough even with the ketchup. Total cost for a large chopped pork + slaw burger &1 onion rings ~ $ 7.50. Overall, worth a try when passing by for takeout. Might try some of the other menu options in the future just for fun.

I couldn’t say better things about this place. The barbecue is delicious, the beef barbecue is delicious too! Order them chopped, slice, or pulled. It’s really up to you and your personal preference. I always try to order at leasy two sandwiches… one for now, and one for later! If you haven’t already, make sure to order the onion rings. There is nothing better than seeing them actually cut the onions, bread them, drop them in the fryer and then see the golden crispy deliciousness come out of the fryer and onto your to go plate. The limeades are great too, not bad for pouring a little vodka in them… not that I know… There is a ton of food on the rest of the menu as other reviewers have mentioned. I really like how you can still pull up, turn your lights on, and have carside service instead of having to go inside. Also, everytime I go, the same women are working there and that is comforting to know. Take care & savor it up!

Decent if you know what you’re going for. Okay, I don’t really think Barbecue is an appropriate name for Dunn’s. We stopped in looking for good, smokey ‘cue and this wasn’t what we got. The bf got a chopped BBQ sandwich, I got a sliced one. This is oven-made barbecue, not smoked. Considering that, it’s fine, but it’s not what we wanted. It’s not real barbecue. That said, the rest of the menu is very extensive with bologna burgers, fried fish, wings, homemade pie and other soul/comfort food. The corn nuggets and the mac and cheese were delicious. I would come back here to try more of the regular food on the menu, but I’d skip the barbecue. Service is friendly. Everything’s cheap. It’s a quick, convenient take-out joint. There are no tables for eating in.
