Let me correct my previous review so as not to «scare» anyone from coming who would mistakenly take my «unofficial Gay Pride Parade» comment to mean that the gay mafia was out in force converting and waving flags. What I meant to impart was that there is a very open, all inclusive atmosphere that brings EVERYONE out to enjoy all walks of life and this event, more than others(in my humble opinion) seems to show Richmond at its best and most diverse. The see of humanity will put a smile on anyone’s face.

No disrespect to Sean C., but so that no one gets the wrong idea from his tongue in cheek comment, Easter on Parade is definitely not the unofficial Gay Pride Parade of Richmond. His comment may suggest to some that the gay and drag community has hijacked this one for themselves. The truth is that it’s a community event embraced and attended by all sorts of folks, young and old, from the very diverse Richmond community. It’s not a parade in the traditional sense. The audience IS the parade. Your Easter outfits and bonnets are the show. If you come, dressed in Easter attire or not, you’re part of the parade. It is a leisurely stroll in a historic neighborhood on a special day. The bonnets and outfits and side shows are charming and provide plenty of relaxed entertainment.
