Extended Stay America – Richmond – Glenside – North

This hotel is so dirty. I am not a hotel snob but don’t think there should be others hair, food and cigarette butts in the room when I arrive. If you are travelling for business, you don’t need the stress of dealing with the filthy rooms and the rude and untrained staff. Run away from this place. Far away.

Instead of filling out my complaint in the usual fashion, I am going to just explain the events that took place since it is just so outrageous. Also, I must add, although it is nearly impossible to find the motel version of this hotel online, don’t be tricked into booking there because they are on the same property. 6811 Paragon Place is the address for the motel version.
I have never had an issue with a motel style hotel before. I travel often and usually to much larger cities than Richmond. However, this experience will result in me NEVER going to a motel again. After checking in to the motel, I continued to my room to drop off my bags. I passed a man standing outside of his room (two doors down from mine) that had his room opened and was openly smoking pot outside. After leaving for dinner and coming back, the same guy and the guy in the room next to his were in a screaming match over whichever one was slamming their door continuously. This went on for at least 20 minutes. A couple of hours passed and the same two guys began to fight again for another 10 minutes or so. After going to sleep (around 11:30pm), I was woken up around 1 by a screaming woman who was locked out of her room by whoever she was sharing it with. That went on for about 20 minutes.
The best part though happened at 2:15am. A man, I am assuming standing outside of his car, honks his horn 5 times and yells «To the MotherF***** in 3−2−7, you are a fa***t. You are a nig**. (Enter about 20 more minutes of yelling insults, plenty of cuss words, and multiple invites for his wife to go to bed with him)» There was also multiple car honking sessions involved during the 20+minute situation with him.
Not to meant that the hotel room door didn’t close completely (at least the locks worked). The bathroom door also didn’t close but thankfully it was just me and my fiancé. The ‘free’ breakfast that is included and advertised as a hot breakfast is in fact coffee and vending machine snacks.
No not stay here! I would also not recommend the hotel on the same lot considering it is owned by the same people.

They do not vacuum. There are bugs crawling around. The staff chuckled when I asked them to vacuum. It smelled.

I stayed here for a week. Here’s what’s good about the place:
1) The room itself was nice and comfy. It was clean, had a full kitchen, a comfy bed and a pullout couch.
2) It was safe and affordable.
Now for the bad:
1) the hallway STINKS. Not just a little — it is almost gag inducing. (Thankfully, the room did not.) I am pretty sure the smell is a result of everyone’s cooking smells melding together. Or maybe it’s from the designated garbage room. Whatever the cause, it is pretty foul.
2) A few of the staff were less than pleasant. Then again, others were nice. It’s really a crap shoot.
3) The breakfast is a joke. A few old muffins, granola bars and coffee/​tea. That’s it.
4) They allow pets, but I’m not sure I would call them «pet friendly». They charge $ 25 PER NIGHT. For a week’s stay, that’s an extra 175 bucks. Not worth it.
Summary: If money is a top concern, and you do not have a pet, stay here. If money is not a big concern, and/​or you have a pet — go elsewhere.

Stay away. Booked through Hotwire. We were promised a 2.5 star hotel. That is not what we got. Came in late, nobody at front desk. Go to neighboring property after 5 minutes to be told to go back over to the first building. The employee was cleaning and there was no notice explaining how to contact her. We were already annoyed. Got on the elevator and knew our night was going to be bad. Got off on the 3^rd floor, stepped off and nearly vomited. The smell of dank, old carpet and cigarette smell was overwhelming. We were at the other end so we had to walk all the way down gagging the entire room.
Get into the room and it was just as bad. The room smelled like someone died. The carpet was filthy. Not only was it stained, but they hadn’t even run the vacuum. Walls were grody. They had streaks of god-​knows-​what on every wall. There was rust stains all through the bathroom. There was pencil\crayon on several walls that they didn’t bother cleaning off.
Every time we flushed the toilet it would screech like a banshee for two minutes. I wish I could share a sound clip of it. It was terrible.
Bed was tiny, hard and had 3 pillows. Yes, 3 pillows. There was another one near the bathroom without a pillowcase which I did not trust. Several times through the night I woke up and gagged because of the smell that permeated all of the linens.
Thermostat didn’t work. No heat, no fan. I like it cold and found out it didn’t work. Throughout the night we got to hear the shrieking of a local crackhead.
The website shows a nice continental breakfast, when in actuality it was a couple of granola bars, some half-​rotten apples and coffee.
I have never stayed in a place this disgusting before. Everything that went in that room reeks. Also, most sites list this property at 1 – 2 stars yet Hotwire listed it at 2.5. Avoid this place. I can’t stress that enough.
I really considered going out to the car to sleep. It was that bad. We didn’t even have the option of going somewhere else. It was 1am and we were going to a funeral in the morning. I couldn’t do anything about it.

This place had all the amenities we needed, but it’s gross. They are working to remodel it. Carpets and couch and bathroom are horrible. Also, I was told that housekeeping only comes after 10 days your stay, unless you want to pay for it. That’s probably why it’s so nasty. And you have to pay extra for dishes and pots and pans. The staff was really nice though.

Pros: clean, affordable, large room with sofa and coffee table and desk, right off of the highway
Cons: can’t think of one
In summation: Would certainly stay here again.

Very disappointed, well I guess it’s my fault for booking a cheap hotel… But everything was dirty, my bed sheets had hair –_​_​_​_​– the stove had grease on the walls super gross overall. Never. Doing this again

My wife’s company put us up in this hotel during our stay in Richmond. Our room was clean and had a fully stocked kitchen and desk area in addition the the living area which had a sofa, a recliner and medium size flat screen tv. The bed was a queen size, and the bathroom with closet area had plenty of room for your clothes and included a blow dryer, iron and ironing board. The room had everything you needed for home away from home traveling. It was more like a small apartment than a hotel room.
A continental breakfast was served each morning. They also had a laundry room, a workout room, and a pool with 2 gas grills. A meeting room also had fax machine and a printer. Wi-​Fi is a small weekly fee.
The staff was very friendly and accomodating. We only had one problem with noisy neighbors the whole three months we were there and management took care of the problem just as soon we brought it to their attention.
