Great authentic NYC pizza! Nice crispy crust and sauce was flavored well. Owner is very friendly and nice staff.

The boys and I visited Jojos Pizza yesterday and really wanted to like it but it felt short for us. I love good pizza. It was a staple food that my cousin and I had walking home from school growing up in NYC. People often wonder why pizza doesn’t taste the same when you leave the NYC. My mom says its the NYC water mixing with dough but who knows for sure. We were really excited to have great Pizza based on the reviews. We ordered a cheese, onion & pepper, and a pepperoni slice. I’m so glad the sold by the slice cause I really miss that. I tried all three and the taste was just ok. We agreed the cheese slice was the best one. Honestly didn’t want to finish my pepper & onion slice. I don’t need the extra carbs if the flavor ain’t there. We are gonna try Jojos again since all those good reviews can’t be far off. Meanwhile I’ll go back to Candela’s in Midlothian where I have to order a whole pie but I know the flavor and texture I long for will be there.

Really good pizza! I recently moved to the downtown area and have been to this place two times since. The pizza slices are pretty big and taste great. The employees are friendly and there always seems to be people in the restaurant. It’ll be tempting not to stop by Jojo’s often since I pass by it on the way home from school everyday but I know Jojo’s will be my go to when I do crave pizza! I would definitely recommend this place to others.

I went in for lunch around 1 and the place was packed. Its a nice casual spot, so I ate in. I got the 2 slice and a drink special. The wait was about 5 – 10 minutes but man was it worth it. This was the closest thing I’ve had to NY pizza in a long time, the flavor was amazing and the ingredients were quality. I burnt my tongue in the process but it was definitely worth it!

We were visiting and looking for a place to eat. It was 4:50 pm and they close at 5. Well, Jo Jo welcomed in my family of 4, and took the time to serve us even though it put him well past 5. The pizza was great, and he was a great host! I would recommend Jo Jo’s to anyone in downtown Richmond!!! 5 stars. Thanks Jo Jo!

This place is great. 2 slices and drink for lunch. Fast and efficient. I dont think I would drive too far to visit, but I am all for walking there during the week for lunch.

People are very friendly here and the pizza is quick and delicious Nice that you can add multiple toppings to your pizza. I got the spinach feta and sausage pizza. Good prices for the size of pizza that we got. You can also just get a slice if that’s preferable for you!

I don’t see how re-heated pizza slices bring in 4&5 stars. The key to fresh hot pizza here, is hitting it when it’s very busy, or getting a whole pie. I got two pep slices and a coke for $ 7.23 which included tax. It’s quite tasty and it filled me up. Great for a quick lunch if you’re nearby, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to drive to it.

Delicious NY style pizza really hit the spot. I could tell I was in for a treat when I didn’t see a conveyor belt oven. Service was fast and friendly. Not sure there is much else to say. The lemonade was tasty.

They have a good variety of pizza options and are a good cheap lunch if you work near the area. Their fries are also good.

Please refer to my original review for more detail. *Update: Since my initial review that I wrote after visiting 2 or 3 times, I’ve returned here for lunch close to 30 or 40 times. Jojo’s has become my choice pizza place for lunch as I work downtown, and honestly is probably one of my favorite pizza places in all of Richmond. I’ve since tried many of their pizza flavors, including Hawaiian, Buffalo Chicken, Barbeque Chicken, Steak, Pepper and Onions, Veggie, Supreme(has to be ordered as a whole pizza I believe), Pepperoni, and Cheese. I’ve also tried their Steak and Cheese and fries. If something looks good to you on the counter, get it, it probably is good. My favorites are the Buffalo Chicken and Supreme. The first few times I ate here, around my initial review, I found the pizza dough kind of bready, but since then it has been perfect. That alone was pretty much what was holding back the 5, but as I haven’t really noticed since, I can’t still say it’s a problem. Also, if you can come around 1:30PM(my new lunch time), there will still be a handful of options to choose from with little to no crowd. Win-win. There may be better places to get a gourmet pizza or elegant dinner, but if you’re in the mood to spend $ 6 for a couple large slices of delicious pizza, be sure to check out Jojo’s/

I know some people think that this isn’t «authentic» New York style pizza, but since NY has so many different places to go to with slightly different ways of making it, you can easily find a place in NY that serves this pizza exactly… so get over yourselves and enjoy the small and unique slice of NY that Richmond has to offer. I love the pizza lunch special(one slice mushroom, one slice peppers and onion), and I am also partial to the way the owner does business. When I say business, I mean it, if you don’t know what you want the he will tell you to GETOUTOFTHELINE. It’s that busy, the food is that good and you better come prepared and leave your heart at the door, cuz its never personal. Just know your order so that everyone can get theirs too.

Jo-Jo’s was A-ok. I think if I worked downtown I may frequent this pizza joint and push the rating up. Service was very efficient. Pizza was good. Solid. Most people seem to get the 2 pizza with soda special. There were about 8 – 10 topping varieties available like cheese, pepperoni, Hawaiian, bbq chicken, veggie.

(((((((((TWOPEPPERONITOGO!!!)))))) the sonic boom hits you. It’s not the sound barrier breaking it’s just the order being called out. It’s quiet now. You place your order and scoot your butt down the line to the cash register. Cash is always welcome and my preferred method of payment at Jo-Jo’s «Famous» Pizza. The crust is thin, the selection is plentiful, and the flavor is dead on. They say it’s the closest to New York style pizza in all of Richmond. I’ve been to New York but I didn’t get the chance to try what a real pie should taste like. So, I’ll just have to take your word for it. I’m a sucker for the tomato garlic and the broccoli. I always say I’m going to try the sausage but when it comes time to order I blurt out«tomato garlic!» and scoot my butt down the line. What’s left to say? They offer affordable great tasting pizza and there is always a line during lunch. In 2008 my lunch crew used to walk all the way from 3rd and Franklin just for a slice. When old colleagues hear that I work next to this place they ask if we can meet for lunch. Jo-Jo’s has quite the following. I’m definitely a fan.

Pretty good. $ 6.99 lunch special gets you 2 slices of pizza and a soda. There are several options to choose from; the majority being one topping. You tell them what you want then they put it in the oven for 5 minutes to heat up. They do subs and calzones too.

I’m pretty sure that I shouldn’t admit to the world how often I catch myself thinking about Jo-Jo’s pizza. I was born and raised in NYC, constantly surrounded by pizza. Pizza was just pizza. Moving away from the city definitely poses a host of transitioning problems, one of which is coming to the realization that now you have to search for — high and low — pizza. In a land of mediocre at best slices and poor approximations of what pizza might taste like — there are very few gems in the rough here in Richmond. When we lived closer to it, Papa’s was a solid choice. Then there is the Pizza Place on 17th and Main(which is even better than Papa’s, honestly). And then there is Jo-Jo’s. People — this is what pizza tastes like. This is pizza. Not only is the pizza exactly what pizza is supposed to be, the place itself FEELS like a pizza joint back home in NYC. Nearly everything about each experience I have at Jo-Jo’s feels like an authentic trip back to the city. Go, eat pizza. Just do it.

Great place for a slice of pizza! Prices are really good and they have a large selection of fresh pizza. Don’t be intimidated by the crowd. They move people through really quickly and most people are happy enough to lend an available seat if you don’t want to get it to go.

I usually don’t like thin crust pizza, so these 5 stars say a LOT! JoJo’s is amazing! It’s tradition now – when noon hits on a Friday, you’d best believe I’m taking that trip to 12th& Main to either get some delicious buffalo chicken pizza or an amazing Chicken Parmesan sub. Always hard to find a seat, but WELL worth the wait. Best of all, the prices are perfect for a quick and good lunch: $ 6 for 2 good-size slices and a fountain drink or $ 7.50 for a full sub combo including fries and a fountain drink. HIGHLYRECOMMENDED!

This place is exactly like the pizza joints around NYC. Jo-Jo’s replicates the whole New York experience from the big slices of pizza to being crammed inside a little restaurant. This place is a hot spot during lunch hours so don’t be disheartened by the long line, it moves along quickly! Their lunch special includes 2 slices and a drink for $ 6 so your wait will be worth it. Their pizzas are all lined up behind the glass and when you choose your slices, they pop them in the hot oven. When they come out, the cheese is melted and it’s oh so good! They also have subs, calzones, and strombolis available. There isn’t much seating in the restaurant so I recommend getting your slices to-go. Food: 3.5 Value: 5 Service: 3.5 Overall: 4
