If you want to wait over an hour for your drinks and mediocre food in an unclean place where the cook touches the food with his bare hands and a customer is wearing a confederate flag hat. I guess you should come here. Never coming back again. Horrible service, unclean, not good food, inconsiderate owners. Warning college students, this place is not part of the«Richmond charm».

We stopped in for breakfast, hungry for biscuits and gravy, and found happiness! Their B&G is absolutely amazing and the sausage is mostly responsible. Service was quick and very courteous. Reading the daily specials made me want to stay for lunch too!

Classic diner in the older part of town. We had nice, if not gushy, service and great eggs and french toast/pancakes. The best sign to us was it seems lots of locals eat here(and the hours are great — we had late breakfast/early lunch on a Monday when other places were closed).

The sausage patties are homemade, the hashBrowns or home fries are real taters and browned like hash browns should be. The meal with coffee was under $ 7. I strongly recommend this homey breakfast and lunch place.

This place is great! Very comfortable and welcoming. The staff is very friendly, and I felt at home as soon as I hit the door on my first visit. The special of the day was chicken and dumplings, which I had with green beans and mashed potatoes. The serving size was quite large for lunch. The green beans were among the best I have had, the potatoes were rich and lumpy, the chicken and dumplings were great. Nice big thick delicious noodle style dumplings, tasty chicken gravy, lovingly cooked chicken. Served with bread to get all the good stuff. Less than seven bucks!

Welcome to grandma’s house! This restaurant reminds me of the way we used to eat. I got the Tuesday special, which was meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, salad, and bread. The photos don’t do the amount of food justice but $ 7.24 wasn’t a bad price when you consider what little you get at other places. I had to take part of the food with me. The huge difference with all of this is that the food was made from scratch. She made the gravy from the meat she cooked and they peeled and mashed potatoes and snapped and de-strung beans, the way it used to be. Is there another restaurant where you can get that in 100 miles? I doubt it. Just like grandma’s, there were people talking when I entered and they were enjoying themselves. If I expected a host to seat me in the fancy area, it wasn’t happening. The woman was in the kitchen cooking and her husband was out front taking care of customers when I sat down at the counter. I suppose people today would call that cute and charming but it’s just the way things used to be here. These people have been running the place for 18 years. I’d been gone most of that time and didn’t normally pass it. Apparently, they did a lot of business because of the Kemper Cabinet factory and other businesses on the south side that have closed. First, I got my salad and dressing. It wasn’t much, so I wasn’t expecting much. The lettuce was clean with no rusty edges and there were several tomato slices and they weren’t yellow-ish or green-ish. Radishes were also included – you can see from the photo. I wasn’t expecting the huge piece of meatloaf with a good portion of mashed potatoes and gravy, and hand-snapped green beans, plus a slice of bread. Trust me about the green beans. My grandparents would go out with my parents on Sunday and we’d stop on the road somewhere someone was selling vegetables on the side of the road and grandma would buy a bushel of beans. We’d go to their house and 3 or 4 of us would be on the front porch snapping beans. Making a meal from scratch just isn’t that easy. I can’t tell you the last time I made gravy because it’s so easy to open a jar. She makes the gravy after cooking the meat, the way it should be. I said«there is no sin in lumps» referring to the mashed potatoes, which really didn’t have lumps but I could tell that they weren’t from an instant package. I had a really good conversation with the owners, also. They’re great down-to-earth people. There wasn’t enough salt in anything, which is a good thing these days, but… it was just like grandma’s. Update 2014.04.17: The new owners have been in business since October and today was the first time I’d been there since then. They’re friendly and the food seems to be much the same – made from scratch and made with care. They mentioned that they do large deliveries from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Came here for breakfast, and it was pretty good. Don’t get cheese in your omelette — it’s pretty nasty. Their pancakes are really good and you can watch them make your food, which I like! It’s not the best breakfast but it was pretty good for not much else being around.
