I have been grocery shopping exclusively at Kroger for almost 4 years now. I used to shop at a Food Lion and Walmart when I lived in Chesterfield. I very much prefer Kroger. I like there produce and they are staffed so that lines are not long. Recently they changed some of their aisles which means it takes me longer to find things. I hate it when stores do this for seemingly no good reason. Also, there at times when they are out of various products or produce. This is more likely if you shop on Monday. Recently they were out of key lime juice for nearly a month but finally after complaining it is now back in stock. Same with La Croix. I much prefer them over Martins and like to get my gas at Kroger too.

This is a totally average Kroger, I much prefer the Cary Town location, but this one is a block from my house so I end up here. If I ever need any meat, cheese, or center aisle products, this is the place to go. I never have to worry about items being in stock. The produce, on the other hand, is awful. On any given day I can go in and they will be completely out of onions, peppers, fresh herbs, and boxed lettuce. I just don’t understand how they can be out of every kitchen staple. The self-checkout can also be a nightmare, as most employees will make you wait when you get the dreaded«attendant has been notified» as they finish their conversations. Just a tip, always fill out the survey at the bottom of your receipt, it takes just a few minutes and you can get 200 points per month!

Okay, I am a student near by this location. First time coming into the deli area, we(my sister, & another classmates) came in to buy food for a party. My sister wanted to buy a 16pc chicken deal. It took us a while to figure how would we go about getting the deal, finally the guy said they could make it but it would take 20 minutes. The lady in the back had started yelling saying that we would have to get 16pc by the pound and not by the price. Smh I don’t know why she had a problem but after saying that we wouldn’t mind waiting for the food, miss lady kept on going on and on about it taking 20 minutes and still getting the food by the pound. She needs to smile or something. I have worked in a deli before her«extra attitude«was not needed.

I’m really weird in terms of having certain specific things that I really like, but I find grocery shopping to be very therapeutic for me. I usually do my grocery shopping at the Kroger closer to VCU campus on Lombardy, or maybe even the one on Cary at times, but this time, I was on my way home from Target and saw this kroger and just thought I might as well go ahead and cover that errand. Boy, was i disappointed. The big thing that I really didn’t like about this place was the produce and fruit section. Everything was messy and extremely understocked. I had to ask for a couple of vegetables because they were not on the shelves, and just stood there idly while I waited for about 10 minutes. As I was waiting, I saw that the prepackaged vegetable section was nearly empty. All I thought was thank god I didn’t want anything from there, cause I’d probably have to wait even longer. The produce section is big for me, which is why I knocked out two stars from the 5 star rating. I would’ve given 2 stars, but there was a really nice worker who tried his best to help me get my fresh produce that wasn’t stocked as fast as he could.

I’ve been grocery shopping here since I moved to Richmond four years ago. Compared to the other grocery stores in the area this had most everything a family would need. Prices are reasonable, staff is friendly, store is updated and clean. We love their fresh sushi. I recommend asking them to make you a California salad roll with tempura shrimp inside, salmon and all three sauces on top for $ 10. Their produce is usually fresh but I wish they would stock in the early mornings or late afternoons. It’s frustrating to look for produce when it’s crowded and you have maneuver around the stockers. I usually have to shop with my toddler and it’s nice that they have an assortment of kid carts to entertain the kids and cashiers gives out stickers to my child. I also appreciate the baggers helpings load my car, but you got to ask.

This is a solid Kroger, and the best big box grocery pick near(ish) my house. They typically have a varied selection of produce, including local and organic picks. The store is large, but not overwhelming like the Carytown location. I’ve recently decided that this needs to be my regular grocery store for the following reasons: 1. I don’t feel overwhelmed every time I enter. 2. They typically have a sufficient number of checkout lanes open, which decreases the amount of time wasted by standing in line. 3. The organic/vegetarian foods section is great! Tons of veggies meats, including Gardein! 4. The lanes are easy to navigate with an easily understandable and organized layout of foods. 5. Parking isn’t the best, but the lot always has open spots(even when it’s packed). Yep, those are reason enough for me.

The average Kroger, although this Kroger sells slightly different things than the one by me(I think someone else mentioned that in one of their reviews as well) so I will venture out here when I can’t find the specific brand of product that I am unwilling to compromise on. Staff was friendly and the store is brighter and cleaner than some others due to the recent remodel.

First, it’s Kroger’s so how special can it be? Living in the real West End(um, not Short Pump), grocery stores are limited. Martin’s has destroyed the former Ukrops so I’ve switched to Krogers. With the remodel, the store is bright, clean, and well stocked. Their prepared foods are sorely lacking. Their produce is average. The staff is friendly and helpful. Nothing special about the store but it’s much better than it used to be and considering our options, this place meets my needs… barely. I wish Wegman’s would come here.

Okay, so maybe my first rating was a little cruel, so I’ve returned to give them a little break. I stand by my statement of staying away from fresh meat and produce, but non-food and pre-packaged items found here are seriously cheaper! I saw more than a few things marked $ 2.77, like Herbal Essences or Aussie hair products. Kroger brand hand soaps are a $ 1 each, and I think most other grocery stores won’t go that low, even for their own brand. Plus, I was there yesterday and the sushi chef was giving out free samples of his Temptation roll, which was absolutely delicious! A little bit of spice with crunchies on top, I would’ve bought it if it wasn’t $ 9! Overall, a nice neighborhood grocery store with some great deals — just not the place for quality meat and produce, IMHO.

I’m a hater on chain stores and I roll my eyes when I see someone review a 7 – 11 or a Taco Bell. You’ve been to one you’ve been to them all. Target has the same stuff in it regardless of where it is. For Kroger, this isn’t true, this is why I’m leaving a review here. I’ve lived near three Krogers now in the Richmond area and I’m surprised to say that they all offer slightly different foods. They stock a good selection of the staple fruits and veggies in both conventional and organic. They don’t have a scratch and dent produce bin like the one down at VCU does, bummer. There is none of that silly crap like shrink wrapped [microwaveable!] potatoes. If you’re looking for Chayote pears or water cress go to the Carytown Kroger. We take no truck with your fancy veggies here. This Kroger has a decent wine selection and they’re more prone than the other Krogers to spontaneously have a sale on bulk purchases of wine(which I save money in anticipation of) and they have the best selection of moderately priced, good wine. The other two Krogers, one does not understand moderately priced and the other does not understand good. Since I go here after the gym and while there, notice that a good half of the patrons are also in gym clothes I’m guessing that we’re the reason this Kroger has a higher than average stocking of healthy foods. They’ve got a great variety of dietetic foods, natural foods, vegetarian foods and low-fat options in every department. It amuses me to think that perhaps some patrons of this Kroger are unaware that there’s a gym next door and simply think that Richmonders are sloppy dressers.
