Music drinks and tacos !!! Everything was on point !!! Environment was great and was good to just relax and kick back. I recommend this place at any time. It wasn’t happy hour when I went but drink prices were still pretty good I will be going back soon!

This my fave happy hour spot! Prices are GREAT, drinks are STRONG! My friends and I are regulars here & will continue to be as long as there here!

Very disorganized — waited at the door for five minutes before anyone even came from the back to seat us, even after we made noises to get their attention. Lunch menu is extremely limited, and the restrictions listed gave a bad, cheap impression. The queso tasted like velveeta, and the beans were soup.
This place has potential, though, and I hope they fulfill it.

I went to Margarita’s Cantina a few times after work for dinner. They have food and drink specials during happy hour. I usually get a chorizo & grilled onion skillet (delicious). It’s my favorite item to order off the entire menu. The salsa and chips are average. I had a taco meal for dinner, which was decent. It wasn’t great but not bad either. Service is usually attentive and polite. Parking is hit or miss, depending on day and time. If you’re in Downtown Richmond, Margarita’s Cantina is «A-​Ok».

Tuesday/​Thursday $ 1 Taco night is how they get you to come in. The service is non existent! Staff doesn’t care and is frequently rude. Food is of terrible quality just like the staff. Take your business where it is appreciated wether its $ 1 tacos or a 3 course meal.

I have only gotten appetizers and drinks here. I usually get a drink or two here with some friends when we’re in the area. Good not great.
It always seems pretty empty when I go in which leaves me wondering about the food.
They also face harder competition with a few other restaurants in the area. Staff seem friendly from time to time. They have a minimum for credit or debit. Be sure to reach that with drinks, appetizers, or dinner.

If I could give it 3.5 stars, I would.
$ 6 for a good 16 oz margarita? Ok!
The servers are disorganized though and while they are nice, I spent a lot of my time wondering why they were doing things so inefficiently.
Perhaps I’m being a know it all, but they would serve faster if they polished their system a bit. Case in point: don’t store the glasses under the cashier. That means bartenders have to wait for something to be rung up before they can pour a drink.
Strange.
I also come from California so I know what authentic Mexican food is. Just from the flautas ordered, I wouldn’t be hyped to eat here again.
But I would come back for the margaritas. Still a good find for cheap and good drinks.

So after being here for about 2 months I decided to revise my former rating and review.
First off, would never really come here outside of a Tuesday or Thursday night. Why? T/​TH has $ 1 tacos which are actually still really really good and you can get full off of them for just a few dollars. Well, I prefer the pork so those are the ones I eat.
There are also standard happy hours options, pretty much $ 5 for your standard Mexican restaurant-​style chilled and iced drinks. $ 3 PBR (tallboys) as well. So if you play your cards right, drinks and tacos for under $ 10.
So I’ve been here three times during their non-​taco special days. Their food isn’t your standard mexican food. It relies on spice and also fried plantains are a common side. Nothing really special there. The reviews are true, the chips and salsa is pretty standard. Salsa is like runny tomato paste with a little flavor, chips are ok.
Like I said, taco night + happy hour is what keeps this place afloat. If you want cheap, decent mexican food any night other than T/​TH, go across the street to La Bamba.

The happy hour is until everyday 8pm! Drinks are decent! Avoid the manager. She is always angry (Donna) ugh! Needs customer service training! Other than that good food and drinks to share with good company.

Ohhhhhh where do I start? At the beginning of course. Salsa??? More like tomato sauce with a little bit of cilantro. Chips, lackluster not even warm. A few tables were dirty and the bartender (really nice) had the whole place to herself. I had the pollo tacos. Nothing special, tacos lacked any general flavor. The funny part is the menu says the tacos are «traditional» but yet the give you cheddar for the cheese? What happened to the TRADITIONAL queso fresco?
Anyways, now I know why they named it after a drink and not the food.

Fun décor and atmosphere but that’s not all that’s necessary for a good review. I have been here twice and unfortunately feel so underwhelmed both times. Students come here for the cheap prices and big plates but really only their lunch menu is cheap (lunch $ 6 and dinner $ 10-​$ 17). Quality is lacking and really why pay for a big plate of bleh? I had a crispy beef taco lunch plate today and the beef was only moderately better than taco bell contents, I’m sorry. It was oily and just mush seemingly seasoned with powder packet taco seasoning. At least the lettuce and cheese were fresh and the refried beans… well, they’re refried beans so they’re already sludgy and bland. to begin with. The rice was tasteless but I guess at least the meal overall wasn’t salty. Sorry, I’m trying to look at positives and give the restaurant some credit but as you can see I’m grasping at straws here. Service good but meal came out ~20 minutes later which was a while considering we were the only people in the restaurant. Will not return.

First time at Taco Tuesday. It was a good night. Good food, I had two chicken tacos, 1 beef. A little bland, but the hot sauce made it perfect! The rice is so delicious! I am a fan on that alone! I liked the atmosphere, lively, but not really loud. And the window table had a nice view.

Holy salt shaker, Batman. I order fajitas like a fiend at nearly every Mexican restaurant I visit unless it is a taqueria and these are the absolute worst I have ever had.
I live nearby and for some unexplainable reason had never tried Margaritas before and now I know why. As far as a Mexican restaurant goes the prices are slightly towards the higher end, though certainly nothing exorbitant, however when compared to the portions and prices at other restaurants — the value for your money is non-​existent. The portions are tiny and the food comes with a general aura of inedibleness.

I came here to have drinks with a friend for her birthday. There was some good and bad things about this place
The good:
–The happy hour had $ 2 tacos and cheap margaritas till 8pm
–The barbeque party wings were great and the chicken tacos were also.
–They play rap and R&B music
–They gave the birthday girl fried ice cream and a candle which was really nice.
–the waitress was really nice
The bad :
–The service is slow.
–The bathroom needs some serious attention
–I got sick the next day from the food (FYI) I’ve never been sick from Mexican food before. And no it wasn’t a hang over I only had 1 drink.

Cheap beer and tacos. Great Combo!

Over priced, small portions, low quality, and terrible customer service. Came for happy hour with 4 friends around 7:15. Was told that happy hour ended at 7. We saw a sign inside saying that said it ended at 8pm. They then said that sign was for Sundays only. We then mentioned that it said Everyday on the sign. They finally honored the special. Mojitos and long islands ($ 5) were weak. Margaritas ($ 6) were mediocre at best.
After drinking 2 or 3 drinks EACH before happy hour ended. We waited 10−15min before our server decided to come back to our table. We finally placed our order.
20mins later still no food. Mexican food never takes that long.
Alas we finally get our food. I ordered chicken and steak fajitas which was $ 13.00! I got 3 small taco tortilla which weren’t worth using. They skimped out on the meat and vegetables. Extremely small portions.
I wouldn’t recommend this place. If you want Mexican go anywhere but here.

Had two taco’s during happy hour here, it was pretty good. May be stopping here for the bar crawl/​cinco de mayo.
The atmosphere was pretty cool also. Nice spot.

There okay need to work on people skills and not showing so much favoritism. Like hello.

Came here for a $ 1 taco night special. I wasn’t really expecting much… think Little Mexico’s $ 1 tacos… We walked in to a few folks at the bar with a bartender, and nobody else around. We sat ourselves after about 2 minutes of waiting and a woman walks up to us at our table and just kind of waits there, not saying anything. I say something like «hey there» and she asks if she can help us. Ohhh, this is our waiter. We had no idea, hah.
We got some beers and margaritas, both were fine. The tacos came next. I guess I know why they’re $ 1. Cold tortilla right out of the fridge, unseasoned ground beef, shredded lettuce straight from the bag, and the cheaper brand of shredded cheese you find at Kroger. After dousing in hot sauce, I without pride, shoved them down my gullet.
With the sudden abundance of taqueria-​esq establishments in Richmond that offer superior quality food and service, this place seems to miss the mark.

Ordered the fajitas and a margarita. It was pretty good and it was cool that they served them with corn tortillas. However, for the price of 15 bucks its a little on the steep end. But I guess it’s because of the area.
Their service was really good and attentive even though we had a large party. They took really good care of us.
