My best friend is so into mid-century modern and lives in a house Frank Lloyd Wright would be proud to own. He makes me go here to browse all time, and it’s a really cool store if you’re into that period. They have really fab lighting(I do confess I love those Medusa floor lamps), in addition to period pieces. They also carry some new contemporary art pieces and decorative items made by regional artists. Everything here is in mint condition so expect to pay a mint for the piece you covet.

Metro Modern is an antique shop that focuses on Mid-Century Modern furniture. This is one of my absolute favorite stores for browsing. Owners David and Sally Ramert find the coolest, quirkiest items around. Some of the neat items I’ve seen in the store include a blue and turquoise Danish pendant lamp that looks like an umbrella, vintage handbags, a geometric Alexander Calder-style mobile, an original movie poster from the movie Gigi, hand-painted mannequin heads and lots of sleek, 1950’s and ’60’s furniture. Don’t go here expecting to find diamonds in the rough, these are elegant, designer items in mint condition. The owners are very friendly and encourage shoppers to stop in and browse. If you see an item you like, don’t be afraid to ask them to negotiate on the price. They strongly believe in sending their items to homes where they’ll be cherished.
