Super frustrating experience here… I went a few times prior to an injury and getting pregnant, and loved it, so I bought a 10 pack of seasons. Well, once I recovered from injury and had Doctor’s «ok», I got pregnant, so I called 4 times and left messages to inquire about what classes could accommodate pregnancy, and emailed several times over the course of 2+ months. No one ever got back to me, and I’ve officially wasted my money because now I’ve moved out of the area and can’t even use the classes. I really wish the customer service was better, because this place has a great mission.

My toes are in a different time zone. I only know they exist because I’m handy with binoculars. Even worse? My hamstrings seem to have been fabricated of concrete. They ain’t moving. Man versus Self. Before I skip to «This yoga studio enabled me to live stretchily ever after», we must reveal another conflict. Normal Man versus Yoga Man. Yoga people can intimidate. This is because they glow. I don’t glow. I’m bald. I’m chubby. I have crooked teeth. I don’t shop at Whole Food. I listen to punk rock. Make no mistake, the teachers, are glow-in-the-dark yoga people… but they don’t intimidate. Their inviting and laid back mojo make the studio feel different from some yogenvirons proliferating Berkeley, Piedmont and Marin. Maybe it’s because they’ve chosen to locate Mindful Life in humble Richmond. Maybe it’s because of the goals they’ve helped establish for the Mindful Life Project. Or, maybe it’s because they’re simply great people. If seeking a perfect little yoga studio where pretensions are left at the door, I recommend jaunting to Richmond to check out Mindful Life.

I go to Mindful Life yoga classes regularly. The teachers are EXCELLENT. The style is a calm flow, which one can follow according to one’s own ability. The sequences make total sense. The space is clean and bright. Easy parking right there. The price is reasonable, with ten-session cards as low as $ 10 – 12 per 75-minute class. The proceeds from the classes benefit Mindful Life’s work teaching mindfulness to Richmond school kids. All ages and shapes of people are regulars. One feels welcomed and included regardless of level of yoga ability. The place really offers the best yoga I’ve ever experienced.
