Discount store offering lots of different items. I’ve been able to purchase construction paper, poster boards, canvases, etc for school projects at a discounted rate. I will stop by here to look for these type items first before going to Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, or AC Moore.

Ollie’s! I didn’t even know this Ollie’s was here until I drove deeper into my neighborhood recently. So inside i went to check this place out for a bargain or two. After grabbing a couple of books cheap(couple of bucks apiece) I decided I might need a basket. Started rolling around different sections. Found a few items in the home section and then some definite bargains in the snack section! Hey I’m digging this little store. It’s like a cross of The dollar store and big lots! Heck before I could get out of there they had me enlisted for Ollie’s Army so I don’t miss their sales. Check it out. You might find a bargain or two.

So if you’ve been to a Big Lots, the concept is pretty much same here. A lot of products they have appear to be either out of season, close to expiration, or are returned goods from past customers. They have a pretty wide selection of books ranging from novels, to cook books and children’s literature. Oddly enough, they also have a bath/bedroom section where the sell towels, pillows, sheets and blankets but it all had a musty smell to it. The rest of the store is kinda just jumbled with a variety of things like vacuums, some furniture, dry packaged goods, small electronics and some clothing. The prices seem pretty reasonable but it didn’t appear to be that much better of a deal than say Wal-mart or something similar. We only went because it was right next to the farmers market on Saturdays. I think this place is good if you’re looking for something«cheap» or you want to buy somethings for your new apartment but you don’t want to spend a lot of money.

I’ve driven by Ollie’s several times, but have never stopped in until today. Out of curiosity. It’s like a Big Lots, basically. They’ve got closeout sales on everything from books to linens to food to games to furniture to cleaning products… you name it. REALLY great prices. There were several things that I would’ve picked up had I needed them, but I ended up with some chocolate covered pretzels, a DVD and some hand sanitizer. I’ll definitely go back.

Don’t buy anything like an appliance or furniture. Boxes are frequently ravaged for missing bits and«cheap stuff» often means broken or «expensive because you’ll have to go elsewhere to buy one that’s functional.»
