Peaco Towing

I wish there was an option for no stars. The woman that worked there was one of the rudest people I have ever encountered. She kept threatening to call the police on me when I asked if we can go check my car to see if the parking tag really wasn’t in there. I’m not surprised that the police don’t even use them as a towing company. They are the worst of the worst.

No stars is what this place deserves. I was towed in a parking lot of which I was a patron at that current moment. The sign in the lot clearly had the peaco towing name but my car was in a parking space and not illegally parked. Nowhere in the parking lot states that there is no parking after anytime or when ur patronizing that current business.
I called. They said come get it at 8:30am
I asked for which forms of payment they accepted. The woman said cash, check or credit but check/​credit would be 5% extra
The fee $ 125. I paid cash. I had $ 140. She counts it twice. Says she doesn’t have change. I said I’m not paying $ 140. She said that not everywhere has cash to make change.
They are a business that offers to take payments in form of cash. Why wouldn’t you have change. She tells me that Nobody uses cash because if you get stranded and you don’t have an ATM then you don’t have cash… How any of that was relevant to my scenario I may never know.
Finally she reaches in her pocket and makes change.

I just moved into a new apt complex less than three days ago. The management office told me I can park anywhere there isn’t grass. There are six units here and only five parking spots, but there is also another spacing a car can clearly park. I have seen several other cars parked there. Anyway– around 3:00 this morning, Peaco towed my car. The woman on the phone told me I parked on grass — I definitely was NOT parked on grass. I tried to explain and she was just money hungry for my $ 150. I asked her name she tells me Debbie and then refuses to give me her last name, but says she’s the owner. When I get to Peaco at 10 a woman who sounds just like Debbie, but says she isn’t Debbie was extremely rude to me. She first indicates she doesn’t believe it’s my car that was towed because it’s a Mercedes. (I’m black you can’t tell from my profile picture) so I tell her «why because I can’t own a Mercedes?» Anyway– an officer verifies my car is in fact my car. The woman has even more of an attitude. I pay the woman, I go get my car and notice this huge dent on the back of my car that wasn’t there before. She declines to give me any of their insurance information. So now I’m out $ 150 and I have a fresh dent on my car. Seriously, if an apartment contracts with that company for towing– don’t move there and tell the apartment management company the reason you don’t want to move there is because Peaco are crooks lurking around trying to set people up just to make a few hundred bucks of people who are legally parked in their apartment complexes.

This is the WORSE place to deal with. I cannot even describe how rude the so called ladies in the office were. When I told the lady with orange hair that she was rude, she told me I was being recorded. Obviously they have had issues in the past.
I asked to see the pictures from where they towed my truck and she would not show me. They are running a scam and need to be put out of business.
Once we paid the crazy charge of 150.00 they told me they would not deal with me and to call the police if I wanted my truck back.
I called Henrico County police who informed me not only do they get called out to this site regularly, but PEACO TOWING has been removed from their list of people they call for towing assistance.
Bottom line we got the truck back after paying their fee with the help of the police. It is really sad to see people so miserable with life. I really hope they go out of business soon and relieve these ladies of their bitterness.

I understand that any towing company’s employees will become hardened after years of dealing with unhappy people. This is the only conclusion that I can come to after experiencing (several times) the miserable people who are «employed» by Peaco.
Unfortunately, I live in Carytown and have gotten towed several times (most of the time it was indeed my fault). The most recent time, I was towed in the middle of the night (technically Saturday morning), and I was in a spot that has a sign saying «No Parking Monday-​Friday). Naturally that is incorrect. I called Peaco the following morning to discover that they are only opened from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. And that’s Saturday hours. Amazingly ridiculous.
When you call or visit Peaco, you’ll be greeted by some pretty sad people. Any time you’re feeling angry at Peaco and want to lash out, just count to ten, hold it in and find some comfort in the fact that even though they are taking your money, all Peaco owners and employees are in fact pathetic, disgusting, sad people. So, there’s really no need to get angry at them since they’re probably angry at the world every day. If you can’t hold it in, you will only be further agitated as some miserable redneck stares at you across a filthy desk and tells you they won’t give you a break.

I want to share my experience in case anyone else has this happen to them. I was towed last night from my apartment complex (second time in 2 weeks) and Peaco said they couldn’t see my parking decal. I was new to the complex and just got a brand new decal. I placed it firmly on the window from inside. Therefore I was very confused when the towing lady informed me that if it fell and wasn’t visible, then it’s not her fault and I need to pay. Even though I thought that was harsh, I understood and went to pick up the car and pay. Upon looking in my car for the sticker, I found it had been scraped off and was laying on the ground of the car. It clearly showed someone had scraped the corner and then peeled it off. I called the police and filed a formal complaint with the management company. I’m guessing this will not go far but i wanted to share this experience because I’ve read other people complain about the same exact thing with Peaco. It’s one thing to tow a car that is illegally parked, but it’s another to jimmy into a car and peel off a properly placed parking permit. They are stealing and causing a lot of stress to people who truly did nothing wrong.

I’ve never given a company a review as low as one star, but really, if I could give Peaco Towing zero stars I’d do it. «Frustrating» doesn’t begin to describe my experiences dealing with Peaco employees on the phone over the last two days — they are downright rude, and they don’t seem to have a grasp of what their own company policies are.
My sister’s driving my car in Richmond while I’m 2,000 miles away in Texas. Peaco decided to tow the car from the lot she pays to park in after 11 pm on Saturday night because the parking tag was on the center console rather than the dashboard or the rear view mirror. It was clearly visible from outside the car. I was told by a Peaco employee by phone yesterday that all she would need to get it out of the impound yard (besides their excessive fees) is a notarized letter faxed to them giving her permission to drive the car.
After I spent my Sunday trying to find a notary in Texas that was open, and a chunk of my morning today in Austin, TX dealing with getting the notarized letter faxed, I was informed by a second Peaco employee that this is NOT what they need to release the car — they will only release it to someone other than the owner with proof that the other person is on the insurance policy for the vehicle. As the proof was IN the car, I had to contact the insurance company and have them fax proof over to Peaco. Once I had done that, Peaco tried to falsely claim that I was the only person on the fax who was authorized to drive the car, so they still could not release it. I had to contact the insurance company a second time and have them contact Peaco by phone — at which point the guy at Peaco today backpedaled and said that maybe the names couldn’t be read because their fax machine is printing on the landscape setting rather than portrait, so the bottom of the page (with the authorized drivers) was missing. The page was re-​faxed to them right side up AND upside down, and they cleared the car to be released to my sister, finally, for a total of $ 195 — less than 48 hours after the car was towed.
When my sister finally got the car back, it was clear that someone had jimmied the lock and been in the car. The drivers’ seat had been moved back, her personal possessions had been gone through, and the hang tag allowing the car to be in the lot it was towed from was conveniently under the passengers floor mat, and no longer in view.
By the way, the only two forms of payment Peaco told me they accept today are MasterCard — which they wouldn’t accept over the phone, and cash. This made dealing with them even more difficult.
Never in my life have I had a worse experience with a towing company than I’ve had with Peaco.
