Before I went in, I had a feeling everything might not be up to par, considering it started out with the name«Michael’s Pies and Pints» — which was an interesting choice considering they only have 6 taps — and then just took the name of its address. So, now it’s «304»(not to be confused with other restaurants within a 10-block radius called 8 ½ and Avenue 805). I walked inside for lunch with a close friend. The two of us share a lot in common, but we realized we could add another similarity to the list: this place made us both depressed. The lighting was dim, the waitress was awkward, and the TV was playing CNN. Also, we were the only ones there. I noticed there were many food options to choose from. Then I realized that half of them were brunch items. Who wants brunch at 1:00 on a Tuesday afternoon at a pizza place? Our waitress was awkward but still very nice and attentive. I ordered boneless wings to split with my friend. They might be «homemade» if the owner lived in the frozen foods section at Sam’s Club. Then I got a calzone. Had better, but still decent. I returned about a month later with my girlfriend and not much had changed, except there were twice as many people as before(now there were 4 of us!) Overall, the food was decent, but I just have a feeling the owner was in over his head with this one. However, I noticed something next door on my way out that shifted my mood from depressed to flabbergasted: «Michael’s Scoops and Shakes.» Michael… stop. Please. Prediction for a new name change: «Michael’s Vacant Lots»

We thought that we would give it a try on a Sunday after church. The pizza crust was tough(almost stale). It was hard to cut with a knife. Ended up eating the toppings($ 1 for fresh basil, and $ 1 for artichoke hearts) and leaving the crust.

I had almost given up on scratch made pizza around Richmond, Especially the near West End. The crust is awesome. It is how you want your stone baked real crust. Crispy with good chew and light at the same time. Suace has great balance of sweet and acid. Toppings are always fresh and not over cooked. Everything with this place meets or exceeds what I was looking for in my new favorite pizza place. Great job 304 Pizza Bar.

Haven’t been to a restaurant in the Fan in a pretty long time and I love some of the restaurants around here, but unfortunately it left an undesired taste in my mouth. This place is NOW called 304 but the address is the same. Came on a Friday night around 8PM and the place was less than half full. Never heard of this restaurant until my friend mentioned it; I love a good pizza place. They got your regular pizzas like cheese/pepperoni and then they got specialty pizzas like Greek, Chicken, 304 Specialty, etc. Nothing really that stands up from your average pizza place. Prices can be pretty steep(more on this later). Regular 12 inch is around 10 bucks and a 16 inch is 18 bucks? I got a 12 inch cheese pizza and added my own toppings: Bacon, Peppers, and Mushrooms. Pizza took about 20 mins or so to come out. Crust: thin and very crispy but it wasn’t really seasoned at all for me. My friends were saying that theirs was too salty? My peppers/mushrooms weren’t cooked enough and still al dente. I only ate two slices and brought the rest home. It was just an OK pizza but I’ve definitely had better. 15 bucks total for my pizza b/c I got the extra toppings. It was just way too expensive for a pizza that was average or less than average for me. Service was good; our waitress checked on us frequently and my drink was filled in a timely manner.

Glad there’s a late night pizza spot so close to where I live! I went here with some friends around 9:30pm on a Saturday night. It’s true, for a place called Pies and Pints, they don’t have a ton of beers on draft and they’re fairly generic. Richmond has become quite the beer scene with breweries nearby and other establishments that offer various craft brews so I hope Pies and Pints jumps on that train soon. Ordered slices of cheese pizza which surprisingly had really good flavor but the crust could have been thinner. They have decent TVs and we enjoyed our chill evening of beers and pizzas and did not feel rushed. They have happy hour deals from 5pm-7pm and do weekly trivia. I’d definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a casual night out on Robinson Street.

I REALLY wanted to like this place. Great idea of having a pizza joint on Robinson that is open late — GREATIDEA. However,(BIGHOWEVER), the pizza was absolutely terrible. It was like a frozen, grocery store pizza. So much so, that my buddies and I were convinced that is WAS a frozen grocery store pizza! I’m kidding, but seriously it was that bad… The pizza had little to no flavor at all, there was very little cheese, and it was barely melted. This was hands down the worst pizza I have ever had at a restaurant. I really hope this place can get it together. It really shouldn’t be hard to make a cheesy NY Style Pizza and make people happy!

Some helpful hints: 1. If you are going to have the word«pints» in your name, you might want to have more than six beers on tap(especially when one is Stella and the other PBR). Doubly true for a town where it seems like everyone has an extensive and exciting local draught list. 2. If you are going to have the word«pies» in your name, you might want to make sure that you focus on your pizzas and have them come out warm. Or at least with the dough cooked all the way through. 3. If you are going to serve in such a small space, you might want to manage loud and obnoxious patrons getting wasted instead of just staring at them and ignoring other paying customers. I would have given it only one star, but the balsamic on the Caprese salad was unexpectedly awesome and the pizza topping combinations were pretty interesting.

When we went into the restaurant and sat down at a table, a huge kickball team came in almost immediately. The waitresses were clearly overwhelmed, which was understandable, but things just didn’t go very well… It took us about 20 minutes before anyone asked us what we wanted to eat. We ordered calamari and a buffalo chicken pizza. The size of the calamari was laughable, and we actually asked«is this a full order of calamari?» She said no, that she wouldn’t charge us for it. The pizza was subpar in my opinion, but I also live next door to Belmont Pizzeria, so my standards might be a bit high. In the end, the bill came back all screwed up(but less than expected, so we weren’t complaining!)

Crust is below par. Beer selection below par. For a joint named pies and pints, that is below par. A wrinkled cheap frame of the Godfather movie poster on fake brick wallpaper? Really? They are new and I’ve only been once so I will try again. The décor probably wont change but maybe they can cook the pies right, or change the dough recipe… i got flat yeasty yuck. Also, you are a neighbor of the commercial tap house, joes inn, ny deli, and now mellow mushroom… all joints that do beer taps justice… learn from them. Obviously folks new to owning joints opening this one. Edit: commercial tap house not capital ale house. Also, the person that listed the points summed up my points well… dont call yourself pies and pints and deliver bad pies and limited pints. I have had better frozen pizza.

My boyfriend and I tried here a couple of weeks ago and we liked it. Pizza was pretty good – we got the Greek. Beer selection was pretty much like every other bar in Richmond. I think it would be great if they had taps that were more unique. Not offense to Hardywood and Devil’s backbone, but I’m tired of seeing the same beer everywhere. All in all, not a bad place, but I think they need something to set them apart from other places.

Week 1, got some work to do. But, first things first. they have the pizza thang right. Very good crust, toppings, cheap &service terrific. Inside needs a theme. Is it a late-nite dive or a better choice than pizza delivery? A pizza tray and wheel ain’t it. Bar just ok. tv’s weak, good music but too low, no décor and kinda just ‘plain’. I can get that anywhere. I would not go back until they prove the Robinson St craw is not their mantra. Kick it up a notch, charge a little more, make it even family friendly and make us neighs come back. We want your spot to succeed!

I was sad to see Racine go but I think this is a great addition to the Robinson corridor. We stopped by on Monday and the place is really cozy and cute. A few days after their soft opening so they’re still working out a few minor bugs, but the servers and the staff were awesome. The pizza was tasty and the crust was wonderfully crunchy with deliciously smoky edges. We both would have preferred a thinner crust. The slices are a good value with quality of topping choices, but the salad choices seem a bit pricey compared to other pizza joints. I’d love to see a small house salad priced a bit more reasonably to go with a slice. From what I can tell this is not part of the Pies and Pints chain(like the one in Fayetteville WV), so don’t expect that. It’s a tiny kitchen with maybe four or five pizza ovens, so you may have to wait. Hopefully their menu will be posted soon to the Facebook page. We will be back to try the appetizers and a full pie. :)
