My friend and I went here for lunch and I have to say I was very pleased with the food and the service. Our waitress was very warm and welcoming. She provided us with excellent customer service and was able to answer any questions we had about the todays specials and food. I ordered the crab cake sandwich with french fries and homemade berry ice tea. The turn around time for the food was pretty good. When the meal came out everything was prepared and cook really well. No complaints at all. I would definitely recommend this place and come back for lunch again.

The place is cute. The staff were nice. The cornbread was fantastic. I look forward to trying some other items but I won’t have the meatloaf again. It needs work.

Lunch at the counter as all the tables were full. Son had chicken and waffles and I had the meat loaf with okra. Excellent and fulling meal. Friendly staff. Reasonable prices

A wonderful family experience. They are very busy but it looks they can handle any size parties with ease. Nice décor and excellent food. Every family member was pleased with their entrees and the teas were amazing. I will definitely be back.

My wife and I fell in love after trying this place on a Sunday afternoon. She ordered the seafood platter, and I ordered the meatloaf dinner. Portions were huge and we a not small people. Everything was a nice temperature, not too hot or not too cold. The staff was awesome and the food was great. Will be going back very soon to try more dishes. Not a lot of parking. You will not be disappointed.

Great food! Great company! It was my first time there and I wasn’t disappointed. I had the turkey wings with mac n cheese, and cabbage. We also ordered the fish nuggets appetizer… perfect! That batter was amazing! My friend had the smothered pork chops, cabbage, and the yams. Her pork chops fell apart they were so tender. It’s a pretty good option for soul food. We didn’t have a problem with the service. Our waitress Ashantee was very attentive. The sweet tea was pretty good too ;-)

I’d come back just for the sweet teas and sides. The food was good but nothing stand out to me. So if you want some of the best sweet tea in RVA. COMEHERE.

I’ve only tried Sweet Teas once so far. It was pretty good. Love the atmosphere of the restaurant, cute décor, and friendly staff. The location is decent with a parking lot near by so you can pay to park. I ordered the chicken tenders, fries, and Mac n cheese. Alongside their«flavor of the day» which was strawberry. They give you cornbread muffins which were good. Definitely recommend trying for some southern styled food!

What to say? The food was delicious. The service was okay. The atmosphere here is nice. I like the colors and the décor. I was a little put out by the fact that our server seemed to be very happy and talkative at other tables and rather reserved and«stick to business» at ours. The Sweet Tea is delicious.

My husband and I have been hearing about this restaurant for awhile now. Decided to check them out for lunch on Saturday. Really nice staff. However, when we arrived home to eat our meal we noticed that we received only 2 pieces of fish per entrée instead of the 2 entrees that come with 4 pieces each we paid the $ 14.99 per entrée price. We was trying to figure out why the cook walked out the back and just stared at us. She knew what she did, but that’s okay. Will not be returning. The outside of the fish was fried too hard, and the yams was full of sugar. The Mac and cheese had a lot of burnt spots from reheating. I give it them one star for the friendly waitress, and the other star for the cleanest of the front of the restaurant.

Sweet Teas food is amazing. Simply delicious. And not to mention the sweet tea is amazing too! I have to give it three stars because of the service and the prices. The waiters are always friendly but they are slow as January Molasses. I frequent this restaurant because the food is so good but I kick myself every time because it’s impossible to get out of there in under two hours. Secondly, the food is slightly overpriced. Other than that. No complaints.

Decided I wanted to come here after my graduation, because I drove by this place everyday going to work, and I’ve heard pretty good reviews about it. We had called and made a reservation because we had a good amount of people coming. We get seated fine and they actually have the table ready for us, which is always a plus. The waitress was very nice and came around and take our drink orders, it was still happy hour so a bunch of us opted for their long island iced tea and the rest of us got sweet tea, cause why not? The tea was amazing so was the alcoholic version. They have a lot of options and there was something for everyone, which I did like. I ordered the smothered pork chop with macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes. The pork chop was okay, it was very dry, luckily it was smothered in gravy or else it would have been completely inedible. The sides were very good though! The mac and cheese tasted homemade and it had a great flavor as did the mashed potatoes. I think as a group, our meals were just okay. I think I would come back and try something different, but would not order the pork chops again. I also think they for what it’s worth, they are just a tad over priced seeing the quality of the food.

Yummy. Stopped through with my friend on new years eve from out of town. Very impressed with the staff and food. I got the friend whiteing, greens, and mac and cheese. Mac and cheese was the best I ever had just like home. Greens were good, fish had too many bones for my liking but it was very good grief fish. My friend had smothered pork chop, mac and cheese and yams. Her words«those yams should be illegal!» and I agree! We shared a crab cakes meal that was pretty good and cabbage. Cabbage was plain… Only complaint. No flavor at all. Both got lemonade. Hers regular, mine with berries(not sure whst it was called) but both yummy. Fresh homemade. Best food. We were looking at everybody elses plate and they give large amounts of food for the money everything looks excellent. I even stop by on my way back home and got a side of yams and macaroni because they were that damn good. I would make the hour and twenty minute trip back there from my house you just to eat. They had steady business everybody look happy and the staff was super friendly. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for some good home style soul food cooking. Make the trip you won’t regret it

I’ve been holding off on writing this for a few months. This experience was just pretty awful… so here it goes. My boyfriend and I went for an early lunch one day and we were seated really quickly as it was pretty empty. I ordered the baked chicken with mac and cheese and sweet potato fries. He ordered the fried chicken with fries and mac and cheese. While we waited we were brought a really delicious slap of cornbread. But that’s where the deliciousness stopped for the meal. My entrée came out and it was pretty sad and bland. There wasn’t a ton of flavor and I barely picked at it. The sides were a bit better though. The mac and cheese was sufficiently cheesy and the sweet potato fries were fine, but covered in sugar. My boyfriend’s plate was a disaster to put it lightly. His fried chicken was bone dry as it had all the life cooked out of it. His fries honestly ruined the meal. They were covered in salt, so much so that he had to pick up each fry and rub it with his fingers to move the excess salt. Both of us are quite liberal with salt, but this was just ridiculous. The sodium overload combined with the dry chicken caused him to leave 9/10ths of it on his plate. When the waiter came by to check on us we just asked for the check as there was no point of sticking around any longer. He just looked at our full plates with a look that showed this was a common occurrence and took them from the table without any acknowledgement. I really wish I would have said something, because it felt like I was lighting money on fire by spending any on the food we had. I had high hopes for this place as it is pretty cute and I want the best for businesses in the Bottom. I hope they can pull it together.

I stop by Sweet Tea after work to pick up something to try for a future group outing. I needed a place that could cater to seafood and vegan eaters. Purchased Buffalo shrimp and Mac and cheese and yams. For dessert I had the peach cobbler. I spent $ 25.00. Pros: Beautiful Place and Nice Staff. I also liked the Mac and cheese. Con: I didn’t like the shrimp it was breaded and the buffalo sauce tasted like hot sauce. Yuck. The most disappointing moment was the peach cobbler. It’s to sweet. All I could taste was the sugar. I wanted to really like this place and I do, the décor is so cute it fresh and airy but I just can’t see myself spending my hard earn money on the food.

The food was pretty good. Sweat Teas were great but a little too sweet for my taste. The cornbread was excellent. My daighter had tge chicken and wafgkes but the waffles looked store bought. Ordered our food and the appetizer came out with our entrees. The smothered Pork chops looked good but ended up taking them home. Maybe next time will be better.

So I will preface this by saying its a solid 3.5. I rounded up for reasons that will be explained. I was born and raised in the southern states and Virginia is the farthest north I have ever lived(but I am very well-traveled). So, let’s get to it: Pros: –the food is well-seasoned and seems to be genuine to the way MS/LA seasons their food –food was hot and did not take long –portions were just right; I didn’t feel like I was given so much food that I couldn’t finish the entrée(shrimp with rice and greens as the sides) Cons: –pricey, but everywhere outside of the poorer southern states charges a premium for«southern food»(just something to note, most places will charge $ 15 for a «southern» entrée) –service was kind of slow but the people were friendly I caught this place on a Monday when it wasn’t busy. If it were a busier time I would’ve given it 3 stars probably because the service is a little slow. Why’d I give it 4 stars? My fried shrimp had the shell on the tails removed, so no unwanted shells and the shrimp were very clean. When it comes to food, it’s the small victories that matter.

While wandering the streets of Richmond, I thought: Oh! Why not eat some southern cuisine while in the former capital of the Confederacy :) Sweet Teas fits the bill of a charming, Southern establishment. There are mason jars galore — in which water is poured, in which tea is poured, in which light emanates from thanks to unique light fixtures. There are booth seats, a large bar, and cute window seats with overstuffed pillows. But what ambience and service(our waiter was very attentive and pleasant) Sweet Teas offered was very much counteracted by the overall lack of quality in the food. My boyfriend and I ordered the spareribs with mac n cheese and yams as our sides. A friend ordered the liver and onions with mac n cheese and collards. We got four ribs in our order. Four ribs for 16 dollars. For the price, it was kind of ridiculous and the ribs were not even that amazing tasting. The mac n cheese was nothing out of the ordinary and the candied yams were very very sweet. My friend was unimpressed by her liver and her sides as well. We ordered two slices of cake as well because my boyfriend and friend had a bit of a dessert craving. Overall, the cakes were pretty good, but I thought that the overall crumb was a bit dry. In all, it’s a nice, little place for dinner but the overall meal, for the price, wasn’t worth it.

I rarely write updates, but here goes! I haven’t been to Sweet Teas since my review over a year ago, but business must be booming because they recently moved location a few blocks west to the corner formerly occupied by Arcadia. Service still stands out, and my waiter was very warm and friendly. He offered a second piece of warm cornbread, and also refilled my strawberry lemonade twice without me asking him to. I love lemonade, and Sweet Teas’ strawberry lemonade was refreshing with real whole strawberries! As for food, it was excellent. I ordered fried fish this time, and the fish was nice and hot with a perfectly fried yet light exterior. I ordered collards and mashed potatoes with gravy as my two sides. The gravy was still a bit salty, but the collards were significantly better than my last visit(during which everything was so salty that I even jibed about the American diet). Prices aren’t cheap, but portions are good, so it’s reasonable overall. The menu only has a few items, but they must be done well, because Sweet Teas clearly keeps its customers happy and coming back.
