One of the better restaurants I have been to anywhere. Service was exceptional. Everyone was in customer satisfaction mode. Definitely returning.

I was in Richmond for another business trip. Now looking for a good place for lunch and decided to visit Tarrant’s .It was a wonderful place. With big nice dinning room and little bar. I had the chicken pie, it served hot, its so yummy. And their sandwich. Both are all good. Excellent flavor. Be back soon! for another business trip.

Just had the pleasure of dining at Tarrant’s. The atmosphere and vibe was amazing(Tuesday night). In a very desolate area of town there is this very cool restaurant with divine food. Enjoyed the feta and watermelon salad, rare tuna and mahi mahi not to forget the lump crab. we could have ordered a dozen different things on the menu and if we lived in the area we’d try them all. Highly recommend. Service, outstanding. Wine too.

We lived in Richmond until early 2015 and have been here a few times. We recently visited when we were back in town for a couple of days. We stopped in on a Wednesday without a reservation and were seated right away but the place was quite busy! Our server came to the table right away and service continued to be efficient and competent throughout our meal. They have a good selection of wine and my wife had a glass of Malbec, and I had a margarita that was good, but not remarkable. For dinner my wife had salmon, which was very good, nicely prepared, and flavorful. I had shrimp and grits since trying to find that dish in the Midwest can be quite a challenge. It was very good with a nice combination of flavors, and very tender shrimp. We each had a side salad and they came with a good selection of fresh lettuce and veggies and tasty dressings. Our previous experiences here were also solid, with the exception of a restaurant week a few years ago that was just OK — that one almost caused us to steer away from coming back but that would have been a mistake. The menu is very extensive so everyone should be able to find something here they can enjoy.

I can’t say enough about this delightful restaurant, from the outstanding service(more on that later) to every dish being delicious and beautifully presented! We went for brunch on Saturday. Delighted to find there was valet parking! Our party of 6 enjoyed the Eggs Benedict, Benedict with Spinach, Eggs with Hash and Seafood Crepes. The little sweet rolls were a really terrific start to the meal, too. Our server was always there with coffee, and offers of «can I get you anything else?» The last reason for the 5-star review is the story of how my husband left his hat on the seat, and later when I called to see if it was still there, it was. The man who I spoke with was very kind, and when I asked if they would mail it to us(we live out of the Richmond area), he quickly said yes. The hat arrived the other day, in perfect condition, and I am a fan of Tarrant’s for life!

Why 5 stars? Excellent service! Our waitress was extremely intuitive about what we would like, and she was well-versed in the menu offerings. She Crab soup. Please believe the hype. This soup is everything. It’s rich and flavorful! There is free valet, which I found out after I struggled for 10 minutes to parallel park an SUV3 feet from the curb. Please don’t judge. It’s not nice. The restaurant is located on the corner of Broad and Foushee, so I had no trouble finding a prime parking spot during lunch rush. The atmosphere is engaging and IMO, breath-taking. The ceiling, the décor, the old wood floors, and the layout speaks to a traditional, prestigious but young and hopeful crowd. I sat there and imagined the space for special occasions, such as wedding rehearsals, promotion celebrations, baby showers, and anniversaries. There were several parties there celebrating graduates. I ordered the Monkfish Marsala lunch special, which was wholly worth the $ 15.95 price. It was expensed, otherwise I would not spend that much on a lunch entrée on any given day. I like a $ 10-$ 15 total lunch bill usually. But anyway, that Monkfish was so delicate, so heavenly, and so memorable! Also, literally everything on the menu was appealing to me, so I took forever to decide, which brings me back to My server was awesome. Go check out this place. You’re welcome.

I have been to this restaurant twice in two days because everything was just soo tasty! The first time I went, I tried the Vegetarian Grilled Cheese which had zucchini, squash and tomatoes on it. I dreamed about that sandwich afterwards lol Then this past weekend I took my family and we all tried various sandwich options which were not only satisfying but definitely our reason to come back soon! I would recommend stoping by while in RVA. With complimentary valet and quick, hospitable service AND great food. Its definitely a win-win.

Great food, great staff, great atmosphere. You can’t go wrong with Tarrants for a party of 2 or 20. We had a birthday celebration for my wife with reservations of 24 which quickly turned into 30 at the time of our reservation. They stayed cool, made it work with 30 and treated every one and the birthday girl wonderfully going above and beyond the entire night. I am not even sure how they were able to quickly serve all of us, but they did. I would recommend Tarrants to anyone for any occassion!

My girlfriend and I went for her birthday, and it was great. The atmosphere is really unique to Richmond, it still has the original drug store stain glass in the front and a vintage vibe. The menu has all kinds of options from sandwiches and pizza to more interesting entrees. We got some craft beer on draft, they have quite a few beers on tap from local breweries just around the corner. The triple bruschetta was a wonderful start to the meal. My ribeye was very flavorful, but my girlfriends entrée won for the night, she got the seafood cannelloni. I’m not a seafood fan most of the time, but this shrimp, crab, and mussel medley was awesome. Waiter was new, knowledgable, and nice. I will go again.

Restaurant has wonderful food. Risotto, crab Louie salad, pizza. But don’t go on a Saturday evening. They seem to overbook reservations. Waited 20 minutes past reservation for table. Wait staff and kitchen can’t handle crowd. 30 minutes for entrée. I’ll try somewhere else next time.

Love this place! One of the best happy hours in RVA! Their Mahi Mahi tacos are the best… their pizza… THEBEST! They also serve really good brunch! I got a Belgian waffle with strawberries and cream, it was absolutely perf. The sweet morning buns they serve during brunch will have you tipping your waiter 30% more… there’s nothing bad I can say about this place… Another dish I recommend is their chicken quesadilla… it’s technically an appetizer but it’s enough to have as a meal. Make this one of your«must-try» places of you haven’t already. I’ve always had great customer service here and have recommended all my peeps to come through and show Tarrants some love! They also have valet

This place is awesome. I’ve went there a couple of times and each time the food was fantastic. Great service and cool atmosphere. Finally, I’ve visited a restaurant in Richmond that makes me feel like I’m in a downtown capital city! My honey absolutely loves the triple berry dessert. It is very tasty. I highly recommend this place. I would say that it is rather small inside and more comfortable for intimate social dinners and dates. Not really a place for children and large families.

Went with the family for Sunday brunch and the new location. The restaurant itself was beautiful and spacious great if you have a big group. The brunch menu itself had a nice varietie and the Sunday lunch menu had alot to offer as well. Looking through the whole menu its very large. You can get salad, sandwiches, pizza, calzones, pasta, and a variety of seafood meals. The service was nice but she didn’t seem to really understated the menu. I ended up meeting my parents and they told our servier I would be coming later. When I sat down I was never received silverware or water. We did get free cinnamon rolls which we delicious and HOMEMADE so good I had to control myself just to take one. My father got the meatloaf and my step mom got the tilapia, I had the salor with a side salad. Each meal was very large with plenty for leftovers. The meatloaf was dry without the gravy but the veggies were very good and fresh. The tilapia was very cheesy but had lots of flavor maybe a tad salty in my opinion but overall not bad. My side salad was very fresh and delicious but a little heavy on the dressing next time i will have to get it on the side, my sandwich the salor was very lacking. It was very salty and it did not come with the grilled onions or the thousand island sauce like it was descriped on the menu. When i went to eat it the my sandwich was literally falling apart the bottom of my sandwich was soggy from all the butter. Overall it wasnt bad but it wasn’t great eather. I probably will not be getting a sandwich any time soon but the ambiance was beautiful. If you go you’ll have plenty of leftovers and be stuffed. I might give this place another try since its not the worst place to go to.

A great little spot for a brunch. We drove up and there was valet parking which we took them up on. We didn’t have reservations, but we arrived right when they opened and had no issues in getting a table. First I ordered a mimosa were they brought me out a half full flute of orange juice and a mini bottle of champagne! A fantastic way to start my bunch. They also deliver homemade cinnamon rolls to the table which were very delicious. I had the waffle with fruit on top which was really good, but what I really enjoyed was the side of home fries. They were seasoned just perfectly and were oh so good! Overall a very yummy brunch that was enjoyed by the entire family.

Cool, bustling place, not exactly a diner, but diner-style food and prices. It’s the more casual side of things, as opposed to their sister restaurant, Max’s, which is a little nicer. My bf and I are OBSESSED with ruebens. And this place basically had 6 styles of ruebens. My bf got the original, and I got the Rachel, which is basically the same sandwich except the Rueben came with corned beef and the Rachel came with pastrami. Pastrami is GREATER than Corned beef, so natch mine was better. BUT, these were pretty great ruebens, bread not too hard, and meat perfectly sliced with a nice Dijon. Service was prompt and friendly and they had an excellent wine/cocktail list for a casual eatery. Atmosphere was bustling and had lots of different types of people(young, old, HIPSTERS), while also maintaining a nice class. I would highly recommend this place for a family dinner out, with or without kids, as its casual & lively enough but also nice enough to please everyone.

I love Tarrant’s Café! I’ve been here numerous times for lunch and dinner and can’t say I was ever disappointed. Their lunch tacos are great and their ahi tuna for dinner is even better! The appetizers are all great and a must try. The service is always wonderful as their servers are on point. Definitely one of my favorite café’s in Richmond!

Had a wonderful brunch at Tarrant’s Café. Started out with a sweet breakfast roll. Then had delicious she crab soup and scrumptious fruited tarragon chicken salad. Also had refreshing pineapple mimosa. Our server, Maloney was wonderful too. #TarrantsCafeRVA #GetInMyBelly #Foodspotting #Food #GoodEatsRVA

This place has been on my list of places to try for a really long time and I finally got the chance to check it out last weekend. Unfortunately it was the night before the marathon and I was with runners so we didn’t get to try out the cocktails I’ve heard great things about but the food certainly didn’t disappoint. I ordered the fish tacos because I have this compulsion that drives me to order them at nearly every restaurant where they are offered and these were definitely some of the best I’ve had. The fish tacos were grilled mahi-mahi(which is SO much better than fried fish tacos) cooked to perfection with pepper jack cheese, guacamole, corn relish, and guacamole. Plus, you get a side of rice and beans. At under $ 15 they are definitely one of the best deals on the menu and so so so delicious. The restaurant itself was typical of fan style bars/restaurants — very, very narrow, and very, very crowded. Unfortunately we were seated RIGHT next to the kitchen which was even louder and distracting but the tacos were definitely worth it. I can’t wait to go back and sit elsewhere and try a cocktail!

Came here for dessert, just that. Got the brownie sundae and the oreo cheesecake. Both were huge portions. The oreo cheesecake was just the right texture, but the crust could of used some more crisp. The brownie sundae was gigantic and i’d recommend splitting that if you grab it. It came with ice cream and whip cream around a big plate, and chocolate sauce drizzled on top. They played frank Sinatra while we were dining there and the atmosphere was very historic with chandeliers hanging above each table. Next time I am in town I will have to try their pizza!

My Favorite is the Rachel, it’s a ruben sandwich, with a side of sweet potatoes. The cuban is also good. Restaurant has good portions, a tad but pricey, but I love ordering take out from this place once in a while.

It’s between a 2 and a 3. I’ve been several times and the service is always good. The food is ok, but the menu is way too long. The specials page could be the whole menu. We’ve had the crab cakes and ribs special– they were both good but not great. I had the salad in the picture. I’ve never had a salad with grapes, pineapple, cantaloupe, red onions, cucumbers, spinach, and nuts in a mustard dressing. It was a very strange combination. My fiancé had the Caesar salad, which had onions, tomatoes, and cakes– none of which belong in a Caesar. I had the manicotti, which was ok but bland. It tasted not quite as good as homemade. My fiancé had the chicken parm which he said was good but the presentation wasn’t great. It was kind of splattered on the plate. The free valet parking was a nice perk, but the gum all over the underside of the table was pretty gross.

I stayed in Linden Row and apparently they are in charge of room service here. So I ordered some delivery, and it arrived in less than 15min. I ordered deluxe pizza with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions and green bell pepper and it was really good although I personally would prefer it without the peppers cuz they give a bit of bitter taste to it. I also tried the garlic bread(my husband made a comment, he said«it’s real garlic!» Yes indeed :) and the Greek salad, both very good and all ingredients were fresh. If you are looking to have a few drinks with your date, it has a very romantic atmosphere with a speakeasy feel to it. I love the old school bar counter(probably came with the building).

I am basing this review on a small lunch — disclaimer! However, this place is just adorable and we were so happy with every aspect of our experience. I ordered the spinach salad, expecting to receive what I always receive — walnuts, strawberries, spinach, and some type of crumbled cheese. This salad came with with candied pecans, cheese, tomato, cucumber, melon, grapes, pineapple, strawberries, onion(and more things) and a honey mustard dressing to die for! As a business traveler, I give kudos to anyone who can serve me 10 vegetables and fruits on one plate(I recall actually counting them). My mother ordered the Caesar salad with herb chicken, and she was mooning over it. In her words, «It’s like they cooked the chicken in butter, but that can’t be it. I don’t care. It’s amazing.» The service was delightful from host to server, and the garlic bread was just the icing on this experience. We will most definitely be back if we’re in the area.

Things started off well with the famous crab soup. And the most fantastic garlic bread I may have ever tasted. Crab louis was beautiful, and came with two bonus shrimp, but was painfully overpowered by a strong mustard seed horseradish sauce, banana peppers and greek olives. Poor lump crab, your delicacy is lost. Im rounding up because I’m a sucker for a marble bar.

I mean, what’s not awesome here? This is by far my most frequented haunt in RVA. Yes… It’s 2 blocks from home; but so are about 10 other restaurants. I’ve been eating here… Dining in, take out & delivery years. I think perhaps once I had something I wasn’t crazy about… But even that I think was more a preference thing. With big a nice dining room and decent little bar area, it’s got pretty much what-evz you might be looking for in a somewhat classy but unpretentious joint. Now to be clear, is there better food in town? Sure… But if your looking for a consistent dining experience without going to a chain, professional yet warm and inviting staff, a homey-feel(not to be confused with homies), and just in general, a feeling of a well managed place… This is the quintessential place in downtown. Oh, and the happy hour… Or should I say happy 6 hours! Yeah… Get some! Favz: fish tacos are the absolute best I’ve ever eaten anywhere! Triple bruschetta app is giant and a total Meal. She Crab formula is he best I’ve ever eaten but lacking in crab when you get it in dining room(meaning take-out guys hook it up a bit better)… Monte-Cristo, Reuben, Sailor… All insane. Tilefish, corova fish… All insane, fettuccine Bologna, I really can go on… All great. If you have a party of people with any concern they may not find something they want… This is the place, PERIOD! The menu is ridiculously long.

I really, really liked this place. The atmosphere and the decorations here are wonderful. It’s like walking into an old style pharmacy, lots of wood and old glassware behind the bar really make you feel like you’re going back in time. Check out the bears head on the wall near the bar! We were here for brunch on a Sunday morning, and it was jam packed. We got a couple seats at the bar(thankfully) and started with a couple drinks and complementary hot cinnamon buns! It was unbelievably cold that day, and those cinnamon buns were so great to have basically as soon as we went in. Love that we got them free. Good job, Tarrant’s! Food took a little while to get there, but I’m not gonna take off a star because of the service(which was exceptional) and the taste. The french toast foster that I had was just awesome. If theres anything better than a hot plate of french toast combined with bananas foster on a cold February morning, I haven’t found it yet. It was special. My experience at Tarrant’s was wonderful. I can’t wait to go back and try more of the menu, and experience some more of the great service. Hopefully it won’t be as cold next time!
