Love this spot. The menu and the people are sooo unhelpful but the food is so dang good. Don’t forget to grab one of the homemade ginger beers, it’ll wake you up!!!

The Jerk Pit never disappoints so it is always my go-to when I want some good Jamaican food in Richmond. I’ve been a fan of this place for years. You can dine-in, order take out, and they also cater.

This place has some awesome Jamaican food! I just had the jerk chicken with plantains, but the sandwiches also looked really good. I’d go back.

Very small place, but great jeked pork and chicken. Loved the jerked chicken pita and the pork salad. Very casual neighborhood dive. Think moving day or game day, not date night.

Wow! I found this place on Unilocal after just arriving to the area. We went in with our family of four & each ordered a special. Two jerk chicken special plates & two chicken curry plates. We also ordered a beef patty to try. All of the food had great flavor! The best part? The entire family ate for less than $ 25. In a sit down restaurant, that’s unheard of. We will be back to try more items on the menu. The staff is very friendly, parking was easy to find & our food was quickly brought to us. No complaints — 5 stars!

This place is an excellent option for tasty Jamaican jerk chicken and spicy beef patties! I’ve just recently returned from my first trip to Jamaica, and the patties here are way spicier and noticeably larger than the patties I had in there. Surprisingly enough though, the price of Jerk Pit’s patties is the same as in Jamaica, making the patties a great steal! The jerk chicken is served in gigantic propotions with tasty slaw and a couple of bread rolls. The spiciness is not overpowering and not quite as hot as the patties. The cole slaw portion is also very large and a huge relief when one’s mouth *is* burning from a patty bite. The price of the chicken is the same as what I got in Jamaica, but the portions are larger here, also making this a steal. I will definitely be returning to try out the Jerk Pit’s other menu items soon!

I’ve only eaten here once, but it left an impression. I was a little overwhelmed when I walked it. It was pretty loud and I couldn’t decipher exactly what I wanted. And I didn’t get the impression I should ask too many questions. So I ordered a stuffed pita pocket because it sounded like something I’d like. And I was right! The food was flavorful and incredibly filling. I was definitely a fan of the food, but the atmosphere wasn’t quite my cup of tea.

Laid back ambience, way more of a takeout place than sitdown. Prices are cheap — we got two entrees, a drink, and a desert for ~27 not including tip. The staff seemed like a really nice bunch(one of their fathers was hanging out in the restaurant), although it took our cashier quite a while to process our order using their new tablet system. The jerk pork was unbelievable — melt in your mouth, sweet and(not too) spicy. Could not recommend more highly. Pit pocket was not worth ordering. It was mostly slaw and had far, far too much mayonnaise, which overpowered the sandwich. Pineapple cake was moist and ginger beer had a SERIOUS kick, and both were very cheap to add to the meal. Now that we know what to order, we’ll definitely keep this place in mind next time we’re looking for a quick, cheap meal.

The curry is amazing(any of the meat choices)! It’s just one of the foods you crave over and over again, and this place never disappoints. Be sure to get the plantains… Oh the plantains… Yum!

This is the first time I dined at The Jerk Pit. I had the lunch special Curry Chicken. I enjoyed the meal but I wasn’t wowed by the flavor. Wasn’t as flavorful as curry should be. The cabbage and the red bean rice were fresh. Not sure if I’d dine here again.

The staff was incredibly nice and the food was delicious. The have options for vegetarians as well as authentic other traditional meats. Highly recommend if you come to this area. Very affordable and very yummy. I ordered the chicken pit with fried plantains. Mmm. My wife had the vegetarian kebab. She loved it. We will be coming back again… soon.

I’ve had the curried goat, jerk chicken and the fish dish and found them all to be excellent. Although there are a few tables in the place, this isn’t a dine restaurant. Still the food is authentic and the service is excellent. If you looking for take out that is good, and reasonably priced, this is it.

GREATFOOD! I was craving Jamaican food and I saw that they had an $ 11 for $ 20 with of food deal going on. I ordered the caribe box with jerk breast, rice & peas, steamed veggies, and plantains which was only 10 $!! Everything was seasoned to perfection especially the RICE&PEAS! They were the best I’ve ever had! I had $ 10 extra dollars to spend so I also bought a beef patty which was ok, a order of coco bread which was fluffy and delicious, house made ginger beer which was great and also packed a punch, and last but not least a slice of pineapple coconut cake which was moist and delicious also! I highly recommend this place! great menu with great people. It’s a nice family owned restaurant with many great things to offer!

This is my second time here and this time around i had the Oxtail platter. This came with oxtail, rice & peas, steamed vegetables and sweet plantains. I enjoyed all of it very much and would certainly order it again. I also used the $ 11 for $ 20 Unilocal deal which was a great deal. Certainly would recommend.
