I would have given this place 5 stars 6 months ago as it has been our go-to brunch spot. However, the last few times we have been there, our food has taken over 45 minutes to be prepared. Then when it comes out, it is mostly lukewarm and just okay. We were hoping it was a fluke, but that has been the last 3 times. We are in the hunt for a new brunch place.

Love this place for a lunch spot. I have only ever been during the day and for lunch but every time I go I am completely satisfied. It does get really crowded during lunch and there isn’t much seating so that is something to consider if looking for a quick place to grab lunch. Comfortable and cozy seating, if it is nice they have a few small tables outside. Service is always friendly and fast. I love the house made chips, I usually get a sandwich there for that reason alone. Tip — they serve water in the small glasses if you are a water consumer like I am go ahead and ask for a tall glass with ice right off the bat!

This place is small but has an chill and relax environment. The food is very tasty and was served warm but it did take over 30mins to get the food and the place was not super busy. The pizza seemed to be popular and looked very good, but the grilled wings and the blackend chicken wrap caught my eye and I was not disappointed. The grilled wings were served hot and grilled just right and not burnt. The chicken wrap was delicious but it definitely surprised me with the spicy kick… I’m not a huge fan of spicy food but I could tolerate this. Loved the fact that had hard rock cider to top off a nice dinner… Only thing I didn’t like was he wait for food once we were seated

This was an amazing place. The décor is so cute, very vintage and eclectic. Our waitress was so nice and helpful, very bubbly. The menu is very extensive and there were SOMANY gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options to choose from. We got BBQ Fried Tofu and a vegan burger on a gluten free bun. It was amazing. I would definitely suggest to anyone in the area!

Great service. Our waitress was a sweetheart. Gluten free biscuit was yummy, but a little dry. Had to use the extra butter to eat it, but this is the first edible biscuit I’ve had since going gluten free in three years, so it was totally worth it. I got the white bean arugula salad(don’t remember the exact name). LOTS of beans, which I loved! I wish there was a little more arugula, but overall, this was a yummy lunch, and I was stuffed between the salad and the biscuit. Definitely want to go back!

I’ve been to The Mill several times over the years and never thought to write a review. Never had a bad meal here. Their food is quite good. I want to give a shout out for the garlic shrimp pizza. It is absolutely delicious — give it a try! A friend of mine has said several times to try anything on one of their biscuits. haven’t done that yet but thought I would let everyone know that apparently their biscuits are yummy.

Sometimes the wait can be forever and the place can get super freaking loud, but those are my only complaints. Now on to the good stuff: I used to live in Bellevue and our whole house would take strolls over together to eat here at least once a week. I’ve never once had a bad meal here, the coffee(for the price) is really good and their rotating dessert specials are divine. Their vegetarian options are also pretty top notch, and their newly revamped veggie burger is so freaking yummy. This place is so good that whenever my parents, or really anyone, comes to visit RVA, I make sure to drag them here at some point.

We arrived 7:30 on a Saturday night and there was no wait for a table. My husband had the surf and turf. The surf and turf was so delicious and tender and we have leftovers for lunch. I had the chickpea burger and it was very tasty. It came with a side Portion sizes are generous and cocktail and beer menu is really good. This is a neighborhood gem.

Such a lovely family friendly place! We tried it out for a Sunday brunch and were delighted. Despite the crowds, we were seated very quickly. The space is adorable and caters to families. The food was excellent. I got the pancakes and was pleased that they weren’t generic IHOP type of pancakes ;) They were cooked perfectly and I loved the spice to them. My husband got the chicken and gravy biscuit. Oh my goodness was it good! Next time I will be ordering that. The gravy was perfectly seasoned and the chicken was delicious. My husband also enjoy the bacon bloody mary. Our service was just right!

This is a great place to eat if you want a casual meal and don’t feel like getting dolled up to dine out. The menu and service are consistent and the specials are always good. I feel the lunch and dinner options are better than the brunch. I had their pancakes one morning and they were very dry, lacking flavor.

We had heard that this restaurant has some very good vegetarian options. My wife and I are both vegetarians so we gave it a try. Started with the BBQ tofu which was outstanding, there bonzo burger was excellent as well. We also shared their humus wrap. It was good wish it had garlic in it. There baked sweet potato fries were excellent. Service was very good. Will definitely be back.

I have been wanting to try this place for a long time. Made it there on Saturday and wasn’t disappointed… well, except for the lukewarm hash browns, but more on that later. Loved the vibe of this place from the moment we walked in. Gentleman who greeted us was super friendly and made us feel at home. Our server, however, didn’t continue with that vibe. Took forever for her to come over and take our drink orders. Then it took forever for her to take our order. She barely cracked a smile during our interactions with her. Also, took a long time for our food to arrive, but we weren’t in a hurry, so no big deal. We ordered off the brunch menu, but when another table sat down next to us, I heard them say that you could also order off the regular menu. I wished I had known that in advance. Loved the salmon cakes. They were spicy, filling and really delicious. The lukewarm hash browns would have been great if they had been warmer. My husband enjoyed his hash and I thought it was great that my kid could get a pancake breakfast for $ 4. Really, that is pretty awesome. A couple small missteps are not enough to keep me from never coming back here. I am looking forward to returning and ordering off their regular menu.

Had the warm Brussels Sprouts salad and was very pleased. It has big tasty chunks of blue cheese and is heavily seasoned with horseradish, maybe too much for some. Also is generously sprinkled with bacon and the warm feature adds to the overall experience. If you’re trying to keep it healthy, are a fan of Brussels Sprouts(and horseradish) then you cant go wrong.

Sunday brunch was extremely busy. The service was excellent. Ordered the biscuits and gravy. It was not you standard biscuit and gravy. Biscuits topped with gravy, the sausage patties were on the side. I would recommend the Mill, maybe a different dish.

Very casual yet very good down-home, feel-good type of restaurant/bar. A wide variety of locally sourced menu options and a nice little bar in the back with some wonderful beers on tap. It’s a small place, so if you’re coming on a weekend, be prepared to wait a bit(they don’t take reservations). Service is top-notch and quite friendly. I recommend sharing the tavern chips(super-loaded and great for a group). The Mill is a nice, quaint little slice of Richmond heaven! Highly recommend.

A fantastic restaurant with the friendliest most efficient employees, & unbelievably good, tender, and perfectly seasoned biscuits. And although a pre-frozen product, were excellent and baked for me at 3 p.m. allowing me to bring them home to family who are visiting from New York, who loved every morsel of these southern treats. In addition to the biscuits, everything I ordered was fantastic! I had their pork chop sandwich, adorned with perfectly cooked and seasoned collards, caramelized & picked onions, which was an explosion of flavor and the most interesting and flavorful pork chop sandwich I’ve ever had. The house cut potato chips where crispy and actually seasoned well unlike you’ll find at most places The jalapeño popper dip is something I shall crave forever! One bit of advice I would give them would be to expand, and add a biscuits and fixins division that would surely do well. The Mill is not only located on MacArthur but is simply on point!

This place is a must for Richmond. It has the hipster and family feel all at once. We had a different waitress brunette and she was as lovely as our last one. She even made some wonderful suggestions which eased myself from having to ask if the peach cobbler came with vanilla ice cream. The chicken biscuit is great an the gravy better along with their biscuits. One of my biggest pet peeves with a restaurant is having to ask for crispy bacon and it come out moderately to what I ask for and I must say here at the Mill they have never let me down… It’s hard to get a five star out of me and they get it with me easily…

Let me tell you the reasons the Mill rocks: 1) BBQ tofu bites B) artichoke po’ boy 3) beautiful glass vases of water on each table D) local, RVA inspired art on the walls 4) right smack in the middle of MacArthur Let me tell you the reasons the Mill doesn’t rock: That’s right, there are zero reasons for the second category. This place is delicious, uses locally sourced ingredients, makes a killer product out of everything they have and serves it with just the right amount of friendly. If you love good food and a really cool atmosphere, you’ll love the Mill. Thank me later.

The Mill on MacArthur is nothing short of a neighborhood gem. It managed to escape my notice for several years, though I’m very glad to finally be in the know! As a neighborhood place, the restaurant is a pretty small one, with inside seating for perhaps 25 – 30 people and another 10 – 15 outside. My party of four had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated, though the hostess was very pleasant about it and worked to have our table cleared off quickly. During our wait, I had time to notice the great daily deals they offer, and it turns out we came on Burger Night(Sunday) where the Mill Burger was only $ 7 and other specialty burgers were available as well. Good timing! Our server was polite and attentive despite being one of only two servers working the restaurant. My dad and I opted for a $ 7 pitcher of Lion’s Head beer(also a Sunday special), and make no mistake: these pitchers are huge! It being burger night, it didn’t take me long to settle on their classic Mill Burger(locally raised and single-source), and we had a Bavarian pretzel appetizer to share. The pretzels were delicious, and the mac and cheese sauce that we selected to come with it was a perfect pairing(though you only get three pretzel sticks when you order it, so perhaps getting an appetizer is best for their ½ off app nights!). Our entrees were similarly super, and I was blown away by the flavor of the beef. The fries were good though unremarkable; maybe go for one of their many other sides instead, like the Mac and cheese? We finished things off with the Nutella Pie, and while it didn’t taste a whole lot like Nutella, it was still as sweet and filling as I had hoped it would be. Despite being a party of four and ordering beer, an appetizer, four entrees, and a dessert, our total did not exceed $ 15 a person, a pleasant surprise not often accompanying the receipt of bills. With everything to recommend it and little to detract from it, I would already go so far as to say this is one of my new favorites for the Richmond region. Give it a try and you’ll be sure to feel the same! Overall: 5.0 stars — — - Pros: — Great(and quick) service despite there not being more than two servers at any one time. — Food is memorable and delicious. — Wide selection of local craft brews makes this a great spot to grab a beer(or several). — Pricing is reasonable, and made even more so by their daily deals. — Locally-sourced food definitely stands out among the hoard of restaurants serving formerly-frozen beef. — Street parking is easy to find(and free). Cons: — Small restaurant size means fewer tables, and thus longer waits if you time it wrong. — Fries are good though unremarkable. Go for the sweet potato waffle fries or M&C!

Had a very pleasant brunch at The Mill! I hadn’t been in this area in a while(last time was when I went to Dot’s Back Inn), but the weather was gorgeous. The interior is decorated with a few cool maps and has a large blackboard on one wall with the specials written on it. The large windows let in a lot of natural light, and I happened to sit at one of the tables right by the windows/entrance. Our waitress was friendly, and my food was delicious. I ordered the fried chicken and biscuits. I was expecting the typical fried chicken breast(with bones/wings), but it was actually a chicken breast filet, and the batter was lighter since the skin was removed. The biscuit was extra crunchy and everything was smothered in white gravy. The accompanying veggie sausage patty and home fries were excellent, and I really appreciated the little bit of fresh fruit as well. All in all, a great meal for an excellent price with decent portions in a lovely restaurant! =)
