Sunset Cove Waterfront Restaurant

My son and I were camping/​fishing at Point Lookout and wanted a nice dinner.
First, this restaurant has new owners/​management and the name is Sunset Cove.
The service is amazing. Attentive, conversational, but not overbearing.
We ordered the Rockfish bites as an app, they came out piping hot and were delicious.
We both order the Rockfish tacos and they were tasty as well.
We stuck around and watched the sunset from the bench outside (trust me, it is one of the best places for viewing that I have ever seen).

Says open on Unilocal.Drove there and they are closed. Tried calling before, and thought maybe busy. Tried calling again while there — nada — not even a message. Will try again some other day I guess.

Yep. It’s outdated but so am I. This place rocks if good food, real people, great prices, and amazing setting matter. Otherwise, stay away!

A nice, relaxing place with a lot of local color. Bartender was fun to talk to.

Saturday moseying through southern MD, it was lunch time and we wanted crab, to sit outside with a water view. Found Spinnaker on Unilocal,it has all of these. I had the soft shell sandwich, partner had the crab cake sandwich. Both of us had a cup of cream of crab soup. Service was friendly but slow though they were hardly busy. The soft shell was very tasty, crab cake not in the top tier, but ok. Nice deck with umbrella tables facing the water. OK but not likely to return.

The décor is out-​dated but kinda reminds me of my childhood, it isn’t offensive. You can see stained-​glass mermaid side-​boob here and there are lots of little costal souvenir-​type things on the walls.
A family member keeps their sailboat at the marina here, so we ended up at Spinnaker’s for brunch when we were visiting them. Service was ok, but just ok. We ate the breakfast buffet and it was also just ok. Nothing amazing but nothing gross either. Everything was hot and the eggs were fluffy. Considering we rolled in 30 – 40 deep (there was a wedding the night before) they did a nice job accommodating us. About half of the group sat together at 2 long tables, and the rest of us filled in the space around at the 4-​tops on either side of the big tables. This is a large restaurant and seating capacity can handle a large group, but I can’t really speak to the kitchen’s abilities to push food out.
There is a large patio and we were able to see some osprey out over the water.

Fantastic! We showed up 30 minutes before closing, whoops forgot everything in St. Mary’s County closes by 9pm except for bars and liquor stores on a Saturday night. Nevertheless, the seafood was fresh and the sweet tea was great. They have gained a few new customers we will be back.

My family and I stopped by for dinner on our way out of town. We were actually told to go to another place in the same area, but it looked like a dump so we turned around and went to Spinnakers. They let us in early and our waitress was was super nice. I had the best snow crab legs ever. My Aunt and cousin had some pretty good crab cakes too. It was also a rather large order of crab legs for a decent price. One of the largest orders I’ve had in a while.
The décor is a little out dated — but the food made up for it.
On our way out the chef even asked if everything was good.

Service was awful. Had to ask for everything we got including menus, napkins, and beverages. Multiple tables walked out while we waited. 2.5 hours to get through a dinner isn’t acceptable. Even had to go find our server on her «smoke break» to get the bill. Only reason we even stayed was because of the incredible views & sunset. Will never go back, left so frustrated.

Really good seafood, not too big on the other items. Awesome location, nice environment. You can’t go wrong here.
