The state denied me it wasn’t these nice people’s fault. Just ask them about all of their policies b4 purchase of any firearm

Let me preface this by saying I know NOTHING about guns and was pretty intimidated by just starting the process of learning. Let me also add that I was starting the learning process because my girlfriend’s family is chock full of gun enthusiasts. The staff, specifically Tom, helped me in some very important areas I may have over looked. First and foremost, I got a detailed safety lesson both on guns and ammunition. Since my girlfriend’s family was planning on going shooting later that day I needed to learn how to shoot. They showed me a safe and proper technique. I may have looked like a total rookie that afternoon but thanks to the friendly staff at Guns 4 Us I was safe and even managed to hit enough targets to not be laughed at by her entire family. I may not go shooting again until the next time we visit her family but you can bet I will keep Guns 4 Us in mind for all my future endeavors.

I went into Guns4Us to inquire about selling my Taurus Model 85 Ultra Lightweight Compact .38 +P revolver. The gun only had 65 bullets run through it so it was like brand new. I had my original sales receipt for $ 360. I wasn’t sure what it was worth but I thought I’d check. I was told that they would give me $ 175 with the safety key and $ 150 without the key(keys cost $ 6). I told them I would think about it but asked if I could leave the gun there at the shop because I had to return to work and I can’t bring guns on the base. I was told to sign a slip to protect them in case of an issue, fill out a DROS form(intent to sell) worksheet so they could start the paperwork in case I wanted to sell it. They stated they had to check to make sure it was clear and I owned it(don’t remember the site) and they wouldn’t know until the next day. t went home and checked online and the gun was going for $ 315 in excellent condition, which mine was, and two sites didn’t have any in stock(new or used) so I decided not to sell it. The next day was a long day at work so I didn’t make it into the shop before they closed(9AM-6PM). The following day I went in the shop at lunch to let them know I decided not to sell and they let me know THEYHADSOLDTHEGUN. I never agreed to sell, there was no bill of sale, nor did I receive payment for the gun but they sold it anyway. Now, had I take a gun and walked out the door, they would have had me arrested for theft but it was OK for them to sell MY gun when they had not purchased it. I was furious so I went to the police and they said I didn’t have a criminal case because I filled out the DROS(record of sale) worksheet form(not the real form — that is typed). They believed I had a good civil case and told me I would need to pursue that avenue. Needless to say, the practices at this store are shoddy, deceiving, and unprofessional. Beware of what I would call the«snake oil salesman». Mr. Wiknich attends city meetings and writes articles talking about civic and fiscal responsibility and the importance of the Constitution yet runs a business like this. Learn from my mistakes because I was in a hurry… don’t sign anything until you have the check in hand and when they say offer, they mean they are free to sell it even though they haven’t paid you for it. BEWARE!

I really love these guys. They are friendly and informative. I am most impressed by Shannon. It’s really really awesome to see women breaking into a field that’s(historically) been predominantly male dominated. I find that impressive.

I went into the store to get my handgun safety certificate and was told unless I plan on buying a gun from the store that day they wouldn’t administer the test. Plenty of options out of town I don’t liked being rushed or pressured into a sale. I will never set foot inside, give or recommend any business to Guns-4-Us. Go to Frey’s great shop great service.

As far as I know, this is pretty much the only show in town. Open everyday, unlike most Ridgecrest establishments. Big 5 doesn’t count, if I can’t buy a 1911 or an AR-15 from a premium manufacturer, you’re not a real gun store to me. You’re a shoestore with bullets. 2 spaces for parking, otherwise it’s street parking or across the road in the strip mall. Usually some elderly gentlemen sitting around talking about gentlemanly affairs. I feel like a baby walking in there. Their website is a bit sore on the eyes, but it’s quaint in an early 1990’s browsing on AOL sort of way. You can purchase a membership here to use the range a few miles outside of town on the west side of the 395. Renewal is in March I believe, but that is just a 2012 thing? Lots of used guns for sale. You can even touch them, and pick them up, if you know what you’re doing. They’re just on racks in the middle of the store. New gun and ammo selection can’t match any of the stores in LA, San Diego, or the Inland Empire, but you pay for the convenience of having it here I think. I’m the type of guy who will go out of town, out of state, or online for my gucci tacti-cool gear, but for those who are too mature to shop(or are gittin’ lost) on the internets this is the place. There is a back room with some interesting old stuff in it. I treat this place kind of like a museum, and I will buy a little something at the gift shop on the way out, a little gift I can pop off in the middle of the desert at a berm. Pew pew pew!
